Don't really care about bunch of 2nd or 3rd rated took the first place just because real good WoW players quitted.
FF14 contents are never intended for these type of people and never will.
They are not SE's core audience nor FF14 community really cares about mmorpg hoopers.

They will probably have a lot more fun than people who complain about "elitists" that don't like the carry-oriented design of duty finder.

Chicken little the sky is not falling today. I wouldn't call this a drama fest. Yeah boosting isn't great; most people who boost never got to learn how to play as one would do through leveling. It's generally frowned upon.

That said I don't really care what some streamers are doing for a stunt where they go into a game blind. I expect the first few rounds to be pretty rough but I might watch for the spectacle. The only people genuinely bothered by this are gatekeepers who see ff14 and wow in some kind of false binary where one has to be "winning". This isn't the horde v alliance. It's two companies with two competing products. You can enjoy both for different reasons without disowning the others, criminal lawsuits not withstanding.

OP reeks of peak internet tribalism. Someone needs to a study on this and its parallels to white flight and unfounded immigration fears. The WoW community is not going to "take over". Lest you forget SE is a Japanese company; the primary market is now and will likely always been Japan. Its an open question if anyone even reads the English forums, in part because of the troll accounts and hyperbolic nonsense like this.

Stop worrying about other players and how they conduct themselves.

Am I the only one who is really looking forward to watching this? I have a very strong feeling it's going to be great fun seeing these raiders blindly fighting their way through what they think are "easy" raids!

So A LOT of you may not know but Limit Max is the leader of the #2 guild in WoW formerly #1 up to like a month ago. About a year ago he created a character and boosted to 70 then rushed to 80 to try out raiding. He took a pause to focus on WoW stuff but he is back. 5. Most of them have had maybe a week to learn their classes.

^ The more attention this mmo gets the more attention it gets from professional content creators. If this happens with Icy Veins backing it then you can effectively retire every single job discord overnight especially since come Endwalker some of them will not even be supported anymore.

I do not think they will cause drama at all but the FF14 community has been hounding them hard about boosting and ACT being on stream like it has never happened before.

but you're the one making threads in the forums about this supposed drama fest ? I wouldn't have heard of these people otherwise.

They are getting away because NA players tends either report it wrong or expecting others to do it.
If this is happening in JP, JP community already got them banned.

If you really want them to be ban, you can always post their video to FF14 twitter and asking their PR team on this.

But how does any of that matter? Why be upset if they play 14 or if they raid or what percentage of who watched what and now thinks something is/isn't easy. The threads about asmond trickled off because at the end of the day he's just another person playing the game.

Oh no, they cleared the hardest content of the game without sitting through the 90+ hours of story cutscenes to get there! The shame!

More people in a game is only ever going to be a good thing, outside that who cares how they play the game everyone plays their own way. Like I said why should we care that they have boosted and are raiding outside of the fact that more people will come in. This is the exactly same discussion when Asmon played. When people worry and care too much about who is playing that is when gatekeeping happens.

According to the Twitter thread they posted on also people are paranoid about the toxicity that comes with Icy Veins completely forgetting that toxicity is caused by the developer not even trying to balance their classes.

So the guy is basically going to try and hire those experts who meet the criteria.

I can literally link you threads upon threads where players who asked for more challenging content got told to play a different game because "it's not the game for them" from 2.0 beta and onwards, even though this game was originally the game for them. so you can act like this community won't throw a fit and try to gatekeep an whatnot but the more "hardcore" players come to play the game again and start incorporating themselves into the community the more gatekeeping/drama you'll see.

meh whatever though. we all know history will just repeat itself here since it'll just be a repeat of the "More Like WoW vs More Like FFXI" debate in 2013 or whether they should add in Jumping and so on. Honeslty though? after 10+ years playing this game on/off i'm just too tired to care anymore.

Pointless topic and clear drama llama bait.

That said, there is one thing I think it's worth noting, skipping is not just about missing out on the story. That's a huge part of the game and intended experience, yes, but skipping also means you don't actually learn the basics, mechanics and feel of the game. Playing through the story means you have completed multiple dungeons, raids, trials, solo instances, etc. You've seen all of the common fight mechanics and have at least a basic understanding of how to tackle them. You know what the common combat markers look like. You know how to read cast bars and how/when to dodge attacks. Etc. I think most of us can agree that Lunar Bahamut isn't exactly a difficult boss.. but the reason he's not difficult despite being at the end of the last dungeon in the game right now is because we know how his mechanics work. We know what Akh Morn is, we know when we can safely dodge back into the nail explosions, etc. So when you use a skip pot you're not just missing out on the story, you're also missing out on days/weeks/months/years of actually learning how to play the game. Put a new player (or newly skipped player) up against Lunar Bahamut and it's likely they'll struggle, and probably struggle quite a bit despite how easy he is to most players who have reached end game naturally.

Now, since these are supposedly great players I'm sure they'll be able to pick things up if they really want to, but skipping isn't just about missing the story even if you are just in FF14 to do end game content so it would be nice if people stopped dropping that line.

So lets see. Naguura felt the need to make a 12 minute video about her impressions of the game where she spent 8 MINUTES talking about why she boosted and how she promises to do the story then Max had to make an entire TwitLonger about the issue of them constantly being told they screwed up for boosting and skipping the story.

Clearly noone here watches any of these guys channel like Max, Naguura or Noawh but their chat is filled with either WoW people trolling very good or FF14 players insulted that they would dare say they do not like story in MMO's and just want to skip.

Lynx who has some credit on these issues even mentioned it is a big trigger thing. ALSOOOOOOOOOO all of the above streamers have spent hours at this point talking about why they are using ACT. The people in this thread in pure denial about this is amazing too me pretending like an ACT thread does not pop up here atleast 6 times a month with people arguing.

I am not baiting anything. There are better ways to bait and farm drama in FF14 then giving a heads up that hardcore raiders are giving FF14 a very serious look again that might have real affects on this MMO. These guys are not just raiders but a lot of them are addon creators that help them to min/max WoW that will make it far easier then the current process of plugins to run these things.

I mean, unless they're dragging in random people to harass and belittle or something it doesn't really matter, right?

If they violate the ToS in some manner, they'll face the same consequences anyone else does. If the worry is the game starting to cater to hardcore, the hardcore have been here and the devs give them a nugget here and there but also basically tell them "Go do your chocobo races and like it" when they want more. I think things will be fine.

Huh? Raiding in either game is pretty transferable. I played WoW in shadowlands and got caught up enough to do Heroic raiding right off the bat just by reading on my class. Conversely, we took on a mythic wow raider who had no savage experience in FF and if he hadn't told us we wouldn't have noticed. It's really not that difficult to boost, read your job, practice on a dummy and do well in a week. People who boost and suck at the game are the same ones who don't boost and still suck at the game. /shrug

Things I certainly didnt miss from playing WoW were all the Twitch names/guilds I dont care about constantly being shilled on their forums. Its sad to see they all pop up here now.

I watched their Titania clear.
Just as expected. They are giving the game a fair chance and enjoying their time figuring out the boss fight, which is what they wanted to experience.
No drama there, just people having fun.

It was fun to watch. Looking forward to the next fights
