Is this him?
How do you activate Titanman radar(tm) anyways? I want to know, hahaha.

I suppose maybe, maybe Koji might take a glance.. but I base that solely on the fact that he knows English.
Also, did you figure out when winter starts yet? Remember, it's not 'when it snows'.
You may think it's a troll, I think they legit had their train of thought. I don't understand the need to kick them while they're down. I see many people (at least 5 people in this thread) rub in their face so I would go as far call it bullying.
If it and this is a troll, why is it multiple pages? Yall biting real hard if so.
Absolutely nothing.
No expansion so far was bad/unplayable/cyberpunk tier to the point ure probably thinking.
Nobody held u at gunpoint and told u 'PRE ORDER OR MISS OUT ON A MINION' with zero effect to your gameplay.
You could wait until 22th of November to see the first reactions/thoughts of those with early access and decide yourself to buy it 1 day before the official launch..but here you are,
thinking the expansion will be bad or that SE has some very dark secrets based on one minion with 0 effect on ur general gameplay.
theres nothing questionable about such a common tactic, its just preying on nostalgia, square enix isnt the first to do it, and definitely not the last.
Easily!
Hear me out, it is manipulative, but its also one of the most common practices in the gaming industry,
also heres another thing u may not know, Minions do not affect your stats, performance, skills or anything, basically as long as people dont get a gameplay advantage i dont mind what they FOMO[ and no a 30% exp boost isnt a big deal].
Plus i intended on buying Endwalker anyway, so i pre ordered, im not concerned about dark secrets or anything of that short which doesnt exist to begin with.
It's the same thing for all preorder bonuses. And I won't defend limited time preorder bonuses.
But the whole Fall thread doesn't leave me confident the OP here is bringing this up in good faith either.
And here I was just pre-ordering cause I wanted early access with the in-game stuff just being a bonus. I agree with the general premise of some of the responses that FOMO stuff needs to either go away or become timed exclusives but that's as far as I'll go, none of this other nonsense they're throwing around.
I have no idea who these minions are supposed to represent other than characters from some old FF game. I have no idea why it's important that they are always together.
Seems to me like only those who are dedicated franchise fans would care, and as dedicated franchise fans they're likely already playing FFXIV. Anyone who cares about having both minions has up until the day before early access starts to pre-order.
I don't think anyone who cares is going to miss out.
The amusing irony is that for all people are complaining they don't come together, as minions they will be eternally apart. You can only summon one at a time.
I think the idea is cute. They haven't done a thing where you get TWO minions as a pairing for a pre order. Do I like that one goes away? Absolutely not, but It is what it is.
I also have a lore theory that they are using these two as a metaphor for Alphinaud and Alisae. Palom and Alphinaud both have training as a sage as something in common.
Bonus items added as preorder bonus for people who want to buy it earlier, what a tragedy
Forced????
I don't believe that you know how OCD works. There's many types of it. I have OCD and it doesn't get to me in ways you're assuming it gets to people with OCD. That's pretty big blanket assumption.
Some people obsessively clean. Some people have to do certain actions/ect when doing something (Like how I have to count one, two, one, two when walking... among a few other things I do others would find strange). I could keep going on about this for a while.
Sure SOME people might have 'OCD' when collecting things in game. But if they didn't buy every single product related to XIV (The blu-rays, the figures, the plushes with the codes) they'll never get everything. They'd have to be playing since day one.
Please don't confuse OCD with Fear Of Missing Out. It really doesn't look good when you assume something like this.
FOMO is a tactic businesses have been using for years. This is a 'first world problem'. This is far from anything new.
...Does it really matter when you’re generally not charged until a week before release anyway?
It is called a good marketing department that knows how to cash in on your nostalgia. I strongly suggest Square Enix fire these people before they run this MMO into the ground via excessive monetization but right now I am screaming at a brick wall until the FF14 devs slip up and put out a bad expansion and everyone blames the preference for cash shop items vs quality content.
Ignoring this legitimate complaint from this person is akin to digging a hole.
No one is forcing you to do anything. You don't have OCD
As someone with OCD who regularly stresses myself out with obsessive habits, I chose NOT to become a collector of anything in this game, (minions, Triple Tiriad cards, mounts, etc.) just to keep sane.
There’s no way I could enjoy this game as a collector.
Sometimes it’s best to live in moderation. I only try to attain my favourite things now.
It’s fairly obvious at this point this is a trolling account. Every thread they’ve made so far is purposefully inflammatory or willfully ignorant.
Forced? When did wanting something become being forced?
OCD is a mental illness that can impact your quality of life.
For example, I have OCD and I can't leave home until I have locked, unlocked, locked, and unlocked my front door 30 - 50 times to make sure it is locked. Or I keep on switching the light on and off 50-100 times just to feel content that it is 100% switched off.
When you go to work you couldn't stop thinking about whether you have switched off your stove/oven even though you remember doing it a ton of times, and in return, it impacted your work performances.
You spent almost an hour parking your car because you're so stressed that it is not parked correctly.
Or you're so distressed when you're 200 miles away from home because you think you "might" have forgotten to do something before leaving, and the only way to calm down is to drive 200 miles back to your house and when you're happy everything is ok, you drive 200 miles back to wherever you were.
Being a neat freak or like to complete things are not OCD. OCD needs to be diagnosed by a medical professional and be medicated with anti-depressants and/or do CBT/cognitive psychotherapy.
Please don't insult people with OCD like that.
Well, since this thread just came up...
That's right. It's a reward for existing customers. Tell your friends to start playing now rather than later.
You've already decided to get a more expensive version of the game package, but you refuse to purchase it even a day earlier?Quote:
Even I who is playing right now feel forced to preorder just to make sure I can get the Wind-up Palom since I already decided to get the digital collector's edition for the mount.
Then you're already screwed because certain minions are not available any more, like the Baby Gremlin minion, the Wind-up Red Mage minion, the Chocobo Chick Courier minion, the Caith Sith Doll minion, and potentially others, like those that came with certain merchandise purchase.
So new players should come in knowing that about the game, and if they have issues about not having both minions in their collection, then don't buy the collector's edition.
Even I, who did preorder the past two expansions, lost those rewards when I started over on a new account last year. The rewards are there to incentivize early purchase before the expansion officially launches, not for potential new players who can read reviews or ask friends/strangers on the internet who are currently playing whether they should also play the game and buy the expansion after it has come out.
You're missing the issue here. If you buy the Collectors Edition for Endwalker after November, you'll forever be stuck with only Palom. If you preorder Endwalker but not buy the Collectors Edition, you'll be stuck with only Porom. Even if you're not an extreme minion completionist having only one of the twins is a deliberate attempt to get you to both preorder and get the Collector's Edition. If you have even mild OCD you're forced to pay $60 early before reviews for the game come out. That is the issue here.
A "minion completionist" doesn't have to consider reviews before buying an expansion to an ongoing game with a linear structure like FFXIV where you're forced to go through each expansion unless you buy a boost for each character. Why are you trying to be a "completionist" in a game that you're not sure after 8 years and 3 expansion that you will continue to play?
The fact is you have an informed decision to make. At worst, you can always put the minion you got in a retainer and never use it if you cannot get both.
Yes, it is; that's how marketing works. I realize that probably sounds harsh, but as has been pointed out in this thread already, SE is a business, and to continue being in business, they need money. So since you (and I) are their customer already, they're going to do everything they can to get you to part with more of your money, since they know you probably already like their products. It's less of a challenge to get any of us that are already subscribers and following this information to give them more money than it is to convince a totally new person to start giving them any money, with no previous buy-in to any SE games/franchises/merch. So of course they're going to try the most tantalizing marketing techniques they can think of to encourage that outcome.
FFIV is my favorite Final Fantasy - Palom and Porom's storyline was probably one of the formative experiences of my video game youth - so I understand the frustration for people who either can't preorder the Collector's Edition for some reason or who come in after the fact and don't get this, I do. But this is pretty standard video game marketing stuff, at this point. If I were in either one of those aforementioned camps of people and found out I couldn't get this minion, I'd be disappointed but I'd understand the circumstance and move on with my life. It wouldn't keep me up at night or anything.
...Maybe I'm just old lol. Completionist issues used to be a problem for me, in games, but particularly in MMO's when it's limited time stuff like this that is "out of your control," I feel like you have to kind of learn to live with it, if you're going to continue to play this genre. There's more important things to focus your time and energy on, even inside of this very game.
And who knows? Maybe somewhere down the line, if they decide this is going to bring in BOKU BUCK$$$$ for them, they may put it on the cash shop. It's not entirely outside the realm of possibility.
Even assuming you already have every other minion in the game (well done!) any inkling of 'completionist' in you means that you will for certain be buying Endwalker anyway... so why would you not preorder?
This isn't like new game releases, where marketting gets people to preorder an unfinished, unseen product. This is a mandatory expansion to an ongoing MMO. You don't have a choice. If you want to play FFXIV, then you're going to buy Endwalker.
What else are you going to do? Hang out in Eulmore at level 80 for the next 5 years?
