All i can say is that i found my new main job for Endwalker.
i plan on maining reaper but i also want to make a lot of gil so i plan on rushing through the MSQ and getting DRG to 90 first then work on Miner then Reaper. if there was a way to level reaper to 80 super quick in like a day or 2 i would see about doing Reaper first
Feels like HW DRK to me with more edgy anymations and a porperly designed living shadow, its to soon to judge of course but looks like we still have Dark WAR and new DRK dps for Endwalker. The job looks cool but i hope this doesn't mean that DRK stay forgothen as a WAR clone.
Interested in it, and is that the first job Battle emote where we see something extra being used(spirit hugging the character)? The only concern I have when watching the video: when the character trandsforms they do one spirit animation, but then the same attack three times in a row, really hope it's not a "spam same skill 4-5 times in a row" type thing, got enough of those on most tanks.
It looks so nice, I'm quite surprised by the "pet" aspect of it (the spectral thingy), it looks interesting ! Can't wait to see how it'll turn out.
#Hype :D
I'm normally a caster type of player but this job reveal actually looks pretty fun.
Also, love the fact we're getting the Death Scythe glamour, as a old FF11 veteran, that makes me nostalgic.
Class looks bad ass, won't be my main, but I will level it to 80.
Visual wise looks so great, still early to actual main but honestly as I levelled every class to 80, will be fun to spend some time with it. Did NOT expect the Void buddy/assist into it, it was a nice surprise
I am not usually into melee I will give this a go.
Reminded me of FFXI dark knight so looks good to me ^^
I'm happy to finally have a scythe class, it looks great visually. Here's hoping the skills are better!
I hope so, considering BLM,WHM,WAR, and DRK had it (along with the awkward positioning of the scythe), one would imagine it is easier to add for this job considering it will fit the stance.
Yep, and this is exactly why I wasn't excited about scythe being the weapon everyone has been clamouring for. They could have maybe done something interesting with scythe or even gone into a more martials arts direction like with Ranjit but nope. They just leaned super hard into chuuni grimdark edgelord to the point where they even included a demonic/ghost companion. I know some (a lot?) of people are super hyped by that but I just groaned. It looks like it could be fun to play but esthetic wise it's just.. kind of boring and super expected.
I initially didn't notice that you actually change outfits during the presumed "burst" phase of job where you channel the voidsent's power, but I can see that being a bit of turn-off to some glam happy people.
PSo2 dodged around a similar issue by allowing you to disable the physical transformation of its Dark Blast mode and instead just get a power aura in the shape of the respective Dark Falz, so hopefully they'll do the same here for the sake of memes like glowy-eyed death chickens/frogs/chocobos/etc.
I'm also honestly in the camp that finds the job kinda...whatever and it's likely just going to be another thing for my inner completionist to bring to 90 then never touch again unless the gameplay is really entertaining.
On the other hand, I'm really hyped for Sage and can't wait to play that, especially if it's meant to be the more offensively inclined shield healer.
Remember when people said the WoL couldn't possibly be associated with voidsent/void creatures?
Not only we got a sycthe-wielding edgelord job but now it comes with your very own under-the-bed-I'm-also-in-your-closet spookies!
No but for real, this is the first job I've ever seen in a ff14 trailer that makes me wanna main it day 1. Even samurai didn't make me this excited.
I'm having a flashback to the Master of Shrouds prestige class from the D&D 3.5 splatbook Libris Mortis. Having a host of incorporeal followers that could drain ability scores by touch was hilariously broken if your DM wasn't prepared for it.
Wondering if the reaper's shade will work more like a carbuncle, or more a temporary summon like Living Shadow or Automaton Queen.
I hope we can glamour the avatar.
I would love to have diabolos as my voidsent avatar.
You can have that right after I get a Demi-Alexander glamour.
After watching the demonstration a few more times, I think I pinned down part of why I'm not terribly keen on the class, and that's that they opted to attach the gaudy green/red and black slashing visuals to all of their scythe attacks, which makes them very indistinct outside of the directions the slashes are going in.
The other melee jobs have much tamer special effects on their combo moves, which places more emphasis on the animations and it's generally only their combo finishers that tend to have much visual flair.
I think I'd like the job better if it placed a similar emphasis on animations over visual effects by reserving the fancy colors for their combo finishers and other moves you're not going to be spamming all the time.
Looks cliche and unoriginal honestly. Gameplay may be fun, but the style of play is impossible to tell from the trailer.
I found the name very Bland
like Sage is pretty simple but Reaper jeez
I don't think the name is particularly bland, really. No more than the likes of 'Rogue', 'Warrior', 'Ninja' and so on.
I'm pretty excited - it's effectively exactly what I wanted in a job but didn't get until now:
- Suitably 'edgy' aesthetics.
- A scythe as a weapon.
- DPS role.
- A 'pet', even if only temporary/tied to specific attacks.
Furthermore, it potentially opens up the way to other similarly darker jobs in the future.
Total opposite for me. How flashy the attacks are is a big component in my interest.
I am pretty interested in this job, and I may go farm a few maimimg glams just in case, but the devil is in the combat rotation and we won't know anything about that until like, October probably.
Yeah they look so good! leaves me to wonder if the upgraded parts of the engine. we saw some improvements with shadowbringers, but they seem now more polished than ever. i‘m excited to see the job skill showcase now!
Im also curious if summoner will have something similar with the egis? im pretty much certain they‘ll remove them now and do something similar like they did with reapers pet.
My honest hope is that reaper takes up some of the "dark dragoon" stuff from 4 and the spinoffs of 4, and then the dragoon classic heads into the "holy dragoon" path.
I'm absolutely hyped! Sage was a massive letdown for me, so I'm glad at least this one I like! Scythe, specter, it's totally my thing. And finally dragoon will also get more good looking sets I hope, instead of just "tank-mini". I also laughed a lot at all the people who kept saying "it's impossible, there's no reaper job in other FF games so none of that is coming, you're all wrong, plus scythes aren't weapons" and now are proven very much wrong.
My only gripe is, as someone else mentioned, the choice of fleshy effects over animations, and I also much prefer animations and kinda scoff at paintbrush effects.
As of right now, I think I'm still gonna be going through endwalker as a MCH, but the more we learn about Reaper the more the chances are I'll switch to it.
I'm just hoping we get a skull mask and a hooded cloak glam so I can have the grim reaper look.
I'd be willing to play it, only if it doesn't have those pointless positionals.
