I've just started having this constant 90001 error and have no fix for it. Same for my partner, we're both on crystal but have wildly different set ups down to different platforms and internet providers. Made my own thread about it. We both have a serious commitment to our static and would really rather not have to sacrifice that.

Hang in there Antivilain - hopefully with enough of us shouting, they'll finally help us out. :( Just sucks that it was working fine for years, then now so many disconnects every day.

I am having the exact same issue. I basically had to switch classes to a dps because if i heal/tank for a group in a dungeon, they are guaranteed 1 wipe due to my disconnecting. My wife plays right beside me on the same ISP and router and never has disconnected once. I've done every "fix" mods have posted from multiple threads, but nothing has worked yet.

Happened multiple times today.

I followed all of the steps posted by the mods as well as a few my isp suggested but to no avail. I just purchased sub and the expansion and i cant play due to disconnects roughly every hour. This is insane. I don't know what to do, I want to play the game but if I cant play and no help is given I feel I should be entitled to a refund for my sub and cost of expansion. But I don't want to do a chargeback because I don't want to lose my account.

Since this morning I have The Errorcode 90002 . Round about every 20 Min the game kicks me out.

So today I havnt had 90002 but now i'm getting 90001 every 45 mins or so. Last night I tried a new fix and havnt had 90002 yet but I uninstalled my killer network drivers and not sure if that did anything but no 90002 as of yet just the 90001 now.

Edit: I spoke too soon. Got 90002 again. Has anyone got any update from support?

So I downloaded WTFast to see if it helped and I went 2 hours and 45 minutes with no issues then got 90001 again. Its still allot better than once or more every hour. But I Shouldn't have to pay $10 a month for a service to be able to play the game without (or less in this case) interruption. Nor have i received any type of help from support or mods either on my thread asking for help nor this one. Its starting to really deter me from playing this game again if we as Customers who ask for help get left in the dark.

Recently returned home after a few months spent in the States and was looking forward to still hang out w/ my long distance friends in-game, only to be greeted with these constant 90002 errors a few times per hour. Prior to this, I had to use tethering on my phone to even load into the datacenter, but at least I would stay connected as long as the cable itself wasn't dislodged, meanwhile now the best I can get is perhaps 30~ minutes until the disconnects start even with this method. It should be noted that while I was gone, the internet at my home was upgraded to fibre optic, which I thought meant I could have a more stable connection when I returned and would be able to connect normally without needing to use my phone, but since I'm posting here that clearly was not the case.

I had tried using ExitLag, which got me around an hour or so of solid playtime, which made me hopeful I could stay connected, until I DC'd twice during level roulette and chose to dip so my party wouldn't have to deal with it. I really wish there was better support for this because I am steadily running out of options and don't want to have to quit and leave my FC without a leader or no longer have the chance to play with friends I met exclusively through this game.

This has been happening all morning to me. I am logged in for a few minutes, then error that I lost connection to the server.

Hi all,
The issue started this week, I was in the middle of a cutscene in the Doman Enclave when I lost connection, after that every time I tried to log in as this character (Ezra) I was greeted with a 90002 error and would be kicked out to the title screen. At first all I had to do was reset my router and it worked fine for a couple of days.

Fast forward to Friday, was playing in the Lochs, got disconnected with a 90001 error. Tried to log back in and was getting a constant 90002 error. I tried everything that had been suggested, changing upfp ( or whichever) in config to 0, reset my router, changed my IE settings, forwarded my ports, tried deleting the character folder in my FFXIV folder under My Games and rebuilding it, disabled antivirus, logged in on a different datacenter and logged out/tried to log in on the affected character afterward, even tried a clean reinstall of the game to see if it might have been a corrupt file in the character folder.

This still did not work. I was able to log into my alternate character on the same server, and even my other character on a different datacenter/server. This is not a problem with my ISP or anything on my side as I said I was able to get into my other characters just fine and play the game without disconnect. I downloaded WTFast (VPN) and tried to log into the affected account, it worked fine with the VPN, but I cannot log in without it as it still gives me the 90002 error even though I've gotten out of the location where I was having the issue and even moved on to the next expansion.

I'd really rather not have to pay for/constantly have to use a VPN service just to play the game on my main account nor would I want to transfer worlds as it seems to be affecting JUST this character but unless a solution is found I have little recourse. Here is the info for my character, I'm not very tech savvy either when it comes to IPs and such but I have a feeling that it's dropping packets or there's something going on with the IP this character is connected to on the other end of things as I said the VPN works fine.

Character: Ezra Sephrera
Expansion: Started happening in Stormblood, still happening in Shadowbringers
Known areas where game gave me the error: Doman Enclave (Kaneken), The Lochs
Server: Gilgamesh
Datacenter: Aether

I just started having this issue as I got to Hingashi. Get booted every 30 mins. Not only that, but immediately after my internet on that computer is unusable for the next few minutes while it sorts itself out or whatever. Really weak squenix. Was excited to make it through the two xpacs I'm behind. A few months of sub at least. With this though, I'll likely unsub before my next reup. Please fix >:|

Hello everyone ! I've ran into 90002 errors also ever since I started Stormblood last month of June. Sadly there doesn't seem to be anything indicated why these disconnects happen. I might not even be in a dungeon or an instance when they happen! I've had some disconnects just from my character being AFK in Camp Drybone !

Playing on a wired connection. I disconnect straight to start screen. Frequency can be from 3-4 times in less than 30m, to an hour and up to 2 hours of playtime without any issues. I connect from Montreal, Canada.

Notable fixes I've already tried:
- Internet Explorer Settings
- FFXIV permission settings
- Turning off any background/uploading programs (Google Drive, Onedrive, etc.)
- Portforwarding all known ports of FFXIV
- Running everything as administrator
- Fresh re-install

Same issue, only started today... It's very infrequent and with no rhyme or reason. Never had issues before, nothing changed to either my network, browser or PC... Nothing at all. No updates, no nothing.

Though yesterday I had none of the issues.... At all.

The game is currently unplayable for me. There are so many lag spikes and dropped connections that playing isn't possible. I have tried making characters on all the different NA servers, tried different shards, nothing is working. Hope it can be fixed soon.

I have been getting 90002 disconnections at least 2-3 times per dungeon I try to run. Only once have I been disconnected in Limsa while trying to access the company chest. I have several characters all on Crystal - Goblin server and it doesn't matter which character I play, the disconnections just happen randomly inside the dungeons.

I've re-installed, I'm on PC and a wired connection, and my internet is high speed and my speed tests show there's no issue with anything, apparently except with Final Fantasy XIV...

I don't know what else to do at this point and as much as it sucks I'm relieved I'm not the only one dealing with this at least...SE seriously needs to look into this :c

Was gone a few days for work, ever since getting back last night now I suddenly keep getting 90k disconnect errors. Everything else I've done online since returning home works fine except for this game.

Started getting disconnected and getting booted to the Start screen maybe ...1 1/2 weeks ago? Also coinciding with pushing through MSQ on Stormblood--but I only mention that because a number of others have. Frequency of disconnections is getting crazy though. Last night got four disconnects within a 10 minute period alone. Can hardly run any duties at this point. Even crafting is very risky. FFXIV is the only program that I'm having issues with, and anything else on my Internet connection at the exact same time remains unaffected.

Yes I'm having 90002 everyday for 3 days, that's why I came here to see If It's just me or more ppl are having this same problem. I play on PS4 and I'm sure this is a connection problem with FFXIV servers. My internet looks normal with everything else.

Months and months later, still having issues. Square has not admitted to nor addressed anything. Got 90002 errors three times in 10 minutes just now. Started almost exactly at 5pm PST. Been on it all day with zero issues at all until right this moment, then a series of crash to start menu with 90002 error. Only happened inside a dungeon instance which is where I usually see 90002 errors occur. Been sitting outside the dungeon in town no issues. The rest of my internet and applications have have no issues whatsoever. Only FFXIV is having problems. Every time I get a 90002 crash, I see a giant spike in network latency for FFXIV specifically. Nothing else is affected.

C'mon Square. Enough already. You can't have this many people complaining across so many platforms and hardware configurations while you continue to play the fool, burying your head in the sand. Address this problem. This is on your end.

The only two patterns I've observed is it happening more often (but not always) in instances or area transitions, and a bit more often at night, but I also have been doing a lot of instances lately so it's hard to tell if there's actually a causative link. Here is what I've tried, based on internet research and trying to make use of others' solutions:

Troubleshooting Steps I've performed:

• Restarted modem and computer
• Reset modem
• Ensured I have the most recent drivers and Windows updates.
• Used a route tracer to determine no substantial packet loss on any intermediate nodes (about 6% at server node) [ UPDATE: This is still happening with zero packet loss. ]
• Checked with other players to see if it was a widespread server issue; I asked a few dozen players and it doesn't seem to be epidemic
• Checked with my SO; we are on the same modem, wired connection, taking same route to the server, and only I am having issues
• Checked other online games and general internet use; no issues, including no interruption of YouTube or whatnot during these 90k issues
• I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF14 completely (including scouring the Windows registry)
• I have changed Ethernet cables
• I have swapped Ethernet ports with my SO to see if he suddenly d/cs and I don't, but it's still only me being affected by it
• I have purchased a new Ethernet card (improved performance overall, not a bad use of $15, still getting 90k'd though)
• Disabled Adobe's updater (someone said that program in the bg was causing it?)
• Added the recommended port forwarding (just today, will see if that helps) [ EDIT: Nope. ]

I cannot think of anything else I can try on my end. It's happening just seldomly enough that it's difficult to troubleshoot. I can go hours without any issues, or even most of a day, and suddenly right at an inconvenient moment, get booted out.

I am at an utter loss. I'm "happy" to see I'm not the only one having the issues right now as most of the threads I've found were from 3-5 years ago. I would welcome any further advice from other members.

Edit: I've seen continued 90ks despite zero packet loss being tracked and despite adding the port forwarding, which I didn't think was going to be the issue anyway since it's affecting me and not my spouse. I've submitted a ticket with S-E.

Just adding another voice to the chorus. Same 90002 issue, I've tried everything listed. I get disconnected ever 30-60 min. No other issues in any other game.

Problem with 90002 disconnects are still there. Only solution for no disconnect is use of VPN with extra costs...

The same issue - 90001 + 90002 for my and my friend.

Same issues here. It's been going on since Shadowbringers release for me.

UPD: Works fine for last 2 days (6-7 August).

So I started this thread months ago when I had literally HUNDREDS of 90002 Disconnects since Patch 5.2, and my wife had ZERO. We play on same computers, same network, etc.

Now with Patch 5.3, immediately it has reversed. I have no disconnects, and she is getting them all the time.

The only recourse is to pay for a VPN service to stop this from happening, since SQENIX will not fix this issue. They keep stating that it is not their issue, even though I and many others have provided multiple data points that proves the issue is with their server/software.

Recommendation: Just pay for a VPN service. I've spent 20+ hours of my own time troubleshooting and collecting data for SQENIX, and they still just ignore it. Like a flat-earther, no matter how much data you show them, they simply will not admit. It's not worth your time to argue with them, since they are idiots, and you'll get nowhere. Just get a VPN and dont waste your time.

I just thought I'd bump this with a little bit of an update. They did provide a couple other things I could try, such as changing my DNS to Google's. I also released and renewed my IP address, and for the last day or two, all was well enough... but have had another 90k2, this morning. My spouse, again on the same network as me, is not having any issues whatsoever. I've once again cleansed my computer of FF14's files completely, after backing up my config. I've reinstalled the game once again, trying the same thing and expecting hoping for a different result. I am completely at a loss as to why this is happening.

I eventually got the "contact your ISP" from the support team, so they've officially thrown their hands up in the air and given up. I do know that it cannot be a simple bandwidth issue, because this happened while my spouse's computer was off, so certainly not choking my connection. I can still state with confidence that I am not losing internet connectivity in general. It's completely localized to my FF14. We compared traceroutes and there's no discrepancy. I'd like to add to the previous steps one that I forgot; I did make sure the game was running in Administrator Mode to rule out any permissions issues. The biggest problem is that I can go hours without any problem, so any change I make and test can take hours to determine if I'm still having the issue. Not disconnecting for, say, 2 hours, doesn't prove the issue is fixed; one 90k2 certainly does prove it's still broken.

I do see a couple people are having success by using a VPN, but that just raises a couple more questions for me. If it is something that a VPN can resolve, that should imply that the issue is between the client and the server, yes? Shouldn't my spouse and I both be having these issues if that were the case?

Just a minor update. I got an update from QA and they kicked it back into support. They did say they would pass the message along but they couldn't make any promises. For my part, I promised to put in my best effort to be in touch with my ISP and see if we can re-route. However, the only two ways I can get in touch with my ISP is calling them or using the "Xfinity Assistant"... which isn't helpful to say the least. Trying to get in touch with someone online requires messenger from Facebook (???). I suppose I can try the Xfinity forums? Truly desperate times and measures.

Anyway, I'm still bewildered at why I'm the only one having issues when my SO isn't, but I can say that I'm still seeing substantial packet loss from the NTT servers as I track it. I'm still having this mental back-and-forth of "I'm watching up to 70% packet loss, it can't be on my end" and "my spouse and I are taking the same route, why is he doing fine while I'm constantly 90king, it must be on my end".

I don't know. If anyone can think of something on the client end I haven't tried and should look into, please by all means let me know... otherwise I'm kind of at a state where I'm fresh out of ideas.

EDIT: I just had another 90k2 error... tracking shows only 9% packet loss at the problem node. I don't even know anymore.

Just wondering if anyone is also having the problem I am. I am constantly getting disconnects whenever I try to load into an area. For example. Just today I teleported in Lakeland to the Ostall Imperative. In the same area mind you and I still dc'd as soon as I got into the loading screen. Same thing when I try to load into an instance from duty finder right after my queue pops and I accept.

Also, if I have to use a VPN, can anyone give any recommendations for the issue?

I posted in another thread about this issue, but it's been happening to me for about a week now. What's really strange is that I can let the game idle for hours (left it on overnight and didn't play for about 17 hours in total - just running borderless windowed while I had browsers open) in a city while people all around me run around and craft and whatnot, I get no disconnects. However, as soon as I start controlling my character and doing something as basic as running, the disconnects start happening.

Even after getting a VPN I'm dc'ing. I'm out of ideas.

I've also now been able to experience what other users have said here about people playing at the same time in the same household. I've now been disconnected on two different computers - mine and my husband's - while we were both playing at the same time. He was not disconnected while playing on either computer (and has not seen the same disconnect errors at all). There's no way this isn't something on SE's side.

Sadly I've had two this morning. I've re-enabled that Mudfish VPN thing everyone in the community appears to swear by. I'll keep posted. I'm hopeful that, if nothing else, this thread and my work helps some poor sod in the future. I know I'd be utterly lost without reading years of forum threads and reddit posts.

The VPN did not protect me from another 90k, sadly. However, it did provide useful information: that at the moment of disconnect, there was congestion that caused a sudden severe spike in packet loss. Something that may not interfere with something that buffers like YouTube, but would definitely impede something as sensitive as FF14. I have passed everything I have collected and done along to a CS agent with Xfinity. And... to my great shock, I found someone who not only read and analyzed, but acknowledged that I had already done everything they would have asked of me and more, and are now submitting a complaint on my behalf to the higher level teams.

Is that going to work? ... I don't know. But they've reassured me that they can tell there are no issues in my personal network or immediate vicinity, and are going to do what they can. Best believe I gave that CS staff a good review. Even if they end up unable to fix it, I'm simply overjoyed to get a human response.

In the meantime, I'll keep playing, keep enjoying the game as I can, and keep an eye out to see if things improve. That said, if by some chance someone in the future does stumble upon this thread having similar issues: I would recommend looking into the things the SE support email out, try their fixes, try the steps I have on this page and the last, before crying out to the ISP.

90k, especially 90002, is a generic disconnect error. It does not have only one solution. Therefore, even though this one ended up getting pushed to ISP level, one of the fixes I've tried might work for you.

Can you give this a try? You don't need the specific brand's NIC, but basically go through your NIC driver advanced properties and change to match up with what it suggested here ( as basically its generic to be disabled for most gamers ). I have been having 90002 disconnects as well since 5.3 patch, today I actually didn't encountered any ( not sure if just lucky ) or if these NIC driver optimizations actually helped. I applied them this morning.

Well, I set as many as I could, though some of them were incompatible (anything that said to set to 1024, for example, was impossible for my hardware). Might as well try it, because I'm still having issues, and complaining to the ISP didn't produce any tangible results.
