On my server, technically 8/8, I am also 8/8 on another server thanks to world visits, I don't have to limit myself to 8.
I RP and write multiple characters. Only 3 of them are levelled and 6 are at 70, though I may keep them there.
But those three are:
Saefinn - my SCH/SMN/RDM/DRK
X'hayu - my PLD/WHM/MCH/DRG
Yesunova - my DNC/GNB/SAM/BRD/AST
But am only using Yesunova for endgame at the moment.
I have 3 alts in addition to my main. The first I created to play with a friend who was on a different world than my main (later transferred my main to that world). The second I created to help with house decorating because my other 2 characters were already tenants in 2 houses each. The third I made because I wanted to replay the entire MSQ one last time before the ARR revamp is released.
Just the one Im posting with.
I have 3 on this server, including my old main, and then a bunch of others leftover on Balmung (my old server), and a placeholder on mateus just in case but I never used that one.
I have several that don't count for checking out things I was thinking about fantasia-ing. I had a couple semi-serious ones for a while, but it got to be too much to keep up with. So, I'd say I have 0. :D
I don't see the point in having alts when I can play all classes on a single character. Plus it costs more per month to be able to have alts.
One alt, which was once my main. I started out playing as a DPS but decided I wanted to try tanking. I started a temporary alt to learn tanking at a slower pace, without the catch-up boost, but then I became attached to them. Once she passed the progress of my main (which wasn't that far really), she became my official main and my old one the alt.
Sixty-three?
I'm happy I made this post. It's a lot of fun reading other peoples uses/experiences with having alts. Thank you all for indulging my curiosity!
Im the type who gets nostalgic, creates an alt, realizes how boring arr is and all its tutorials are, deletes said character, then goes back to raiding on my main til i get nostalgic again.
I think the furthest i've ever made it is lvl 15 before i get bored and start missing my main.
I have 10, one for each race on my main world and two randos on another server. Used to have two others on another account, but I gave that account to a friend so he could play.
TONS. Too many to count them, hahaha. I love experimenting with different charismas for my characters.
Until recently? Just one - I had a Lala and a FemRoe.
But now I have a Bunbun. Hoping the Post 50 ARR quests will be trimmed down by the time I get to them.
2 for custom deliveries and beast tribe quest items for .3 crafted gear.
2 to hold fc's for ship/subs/gardening. Possibly replacing those two with the above two to keep from having to log around 5 characters twice a day.
If the game was more alt friendly, I would definitely have some. I basically just have 2 potential alts sitting at the character select screen though because as much as I might like to play them I don't want to go through the whole grind again.
Like... 1.3 alts at this point, I guess?
I have a former tank/healer alt that's now just a tank/Dragoon alt, and then another for playing on Japanese servers that only ever has one or two jobs leveled.
I have five alts. One is at endgame, two are in SHB and the last one is just at the start of HW. I tend to switch to an alt when I'm stressed in RL (replaying the story is like picking up a favourite book) or I play them when I don't have much to do on my main.
I have 1 Viera, 1 Hrothgar and 3 elezen (2 males on different servers and one female). I would love to be able to switch mains occasionally, but unfortunately this game is not at all alt-friendly; losing access to housing, achievements, mounts, music rolls etc. makes switching impractical.
I have tried going the fantasia route, but found I missed my fem roe way too much.
No alts. With the possibility of playing all classes on a single character I simply have no need for alts. I have no reason to play on other worlds/datacenters either.
Like 4 or 5?
And i use 2.
My main obviously and on another DC my alt.
I play my Main with JP Dub for MSQ[yay] and my alt in ENG Dub[oof]

I do not see the point.
One char can do everything and with new game+ you can relive the MSQ.
I have one alt that i kind of abandoned when i remembered all of the effort that would go into getting it caught up.
Other than that, i do create new ones to test out some facial tweaks i want to try.
I have my main, and my original character. I had left FFXIV before ARR patches were finished, then came back a few months after Stormblood came out. I couldn't remember how to play, and instead of just starting a new class (which I should have done) I created a new character that is now my main. It works out though, I use my old me (as I call her) to run things with a friend, and use main me to run things at my own speed.
More than I'm willing to admit and most are endgame.
You're forgetting entry accounts.Quote:
Nonsense...?
You don't pay for alts. I have waaay too many, so I should know.
It's not "pay per alt" its "pay more (unless you use 180 day cycles) to even be able to make an alt".
Currently I have seven - Two main alts (Viera, Au Ra), four I occasionally use, one that seems to just be there. All are at post-SB content except for one - who's about 1/4 in the SB story line.
You pay more for a standard subscription, which (as far as I'm aware) only affects how many characters you are able to make.
But it isn't "pay more to even be able to make an alt".
Entry level subscriptions can have eight characters, one per world. You do not need a standard subscription to have alts in any form. Only if you want two on a single world, or more than eight in total.
I had two alts before I'd even left the free trial period.
A) I said my comment goes for standard account and B) at least as a German, I don't see why anybody should even work with an entry account, as 11€ isn't far away from 14€ for the regular service.
(Plus, 60-days-playtime-cards on the Internet tend to be a small tad cheaper than buying the sub twice on Mogstation.)
47. I've registered my name on every server where it was available, so I would never see doppelgangers or impersonators. I play only one character and very rarely second alt.

If you make an alt on a different server, is it really an alt? :pQuote:

I have a bunch created, planned to have 2 "mains" one for physical and other for magic, end up using just one, but kept the other one and created 2 more on same server as "mules" for inventory, then when I became owner of our FC mansion and all, I use them as my "maids" to keep housing furniture, manage gardens, airship missions and selling loot from them.
I have 1 Alt. My big Hrothgar kitty.
<3
If I didnt want to lose my favorite Glamours that only work on a Female Character...I would have Fantasia'd
At least 15 across different servers, thought maybe 2 of those do I play a lot.
I have a few, but I havent played any in years.
