I've caught 4 spectral fish in one zone and got exactly 0 spectral currents...

"I don't like it therefore by fact it is the worst thing in the world" The post.
Also, do tell what more another dungeon could offer besides lore? Hallway, boss, hallway, boss, cinematic hallway and then a boss. Unbelievable! Could you imagine the step, it's genius!
The time gates need to be taken away completely or reduced to something like 30 minutes - 1 hour at the most. It's infuriating enough to fight against RNG, and knowing you have to wait two hours before you can go back in to try again adds insult to injury, especially if you finished the last round with say, 9k points and there's no guarantee that you'll be lucky enough to get triple rainbows next time.
Needs more rainbows
Besides attacking them. Do you believe the content will be relevant all the way to even the next patch without an overhaul? They shouldn't have called it pointless. If the content is doomed to be dead down the road, then a dungeon is better. It at least gives you a different thing to stair at during a roulette.
The dev team has "clearly" painted a limited resources picture. Side content needs to be either good on drop. Or they need to be more committed to balancing it for global markets in a more timely manor. They have not had the best track record for side content. All that is happening is they are creating an atmosphere of resentment as demonstrated by the person you quoted. Extra dungeons just create boredom.
But maybe they have a plan and they already have balance fixes prepped. But maybe some of the vaunted communication would go a long way to diffuse threads like these. I am not a mount collector so doesn't bother me either way about the actual content.
Thank you for the hint. I've watched a video of the Quest on youtube and it shows a whole different location.
This is weird. I'm playing with German language settings (I'm not a native English speaker) and the description clearly says " can only be found at Jadeite Thick during rainy weather".
Thanks again. Will try it again at the required time.
Honestly, i do like the concept of Ocean Fishing, i just wish we would have more than 6 amd a half minutes in each zone. We get a 7 min timer for each, and we are forced to stop at the last 30 second mark, and it's not enough time for anyone, especially if you get the larger fish that take 10-30 secs just to bite. We have a 60 min timer for the whole duty, yet we dont even use half of it. If we had a 10 min timer, at the very least, it would help us get more out of this content.
Uhh, what labels something as "dead content"?
Cause I could say the same about 24men raids, they become hella hard to pop the next expac. Should they be dropped in favor of more meh dngs just cause "it's something new to look at later (if you're one of those people who do roulette. I personally avoid rerunning old dngs lvl synced)".
Also ...
This is wrong, Eureka is actually still fairly active when new content slows and Squads became trust.
I recently got my friends into Eureka to get their glow sticks and I completed 1.5 weapons with lil effort in decently populated instances. And trust are a godsend.
The point of this ocean fishing content seems to be to act as both a platform for them to add new stuff to later on AND as a means to draw more attention to fishing for those who had no interest in it before by making it a fast track for leveling (like the restoration stuff). I've played this game for years and today was the first time I EVER touched fishing. I legit had it unlocked but never did the first quest until today. It was the same for crafting with the restoration, before that I struggled to push any of them up to 30 and now I'm sitting here making new HQ armor for myself.
It's fine to be disappointed with something but I does seem like the type of thing more so aimed at getting new people interested and up-to-speed before making more interesting stuff later.
Thats my problem with it too. I honestly thought it would be something else. Maybe some kind of longer voyage without those scores where you can fish, talk with others, relax a bit if you want to look at the landscapes and to maybe have a bit of random events. How awesome would it have been if you are there relaxing and fishing and suddenly pirates attack the boat. Now you have to defend the ship by using its weapon or have certain attacks ready. Or instead of pirates it could have been a sea monster. Or instead of an attack its just really bad weather. Just some random events like that. Of course they too are old someday but honestly having nothing like that just makes it really stale..
They could have given us some points if they wanted but instead of having to reach highscores and have to do it as a group too (which punishes everyone if a few are not doing much) you get only your own personal score which then will be turned into currency. This currency can be exchanged with an NPC for prices, including the pet and the mount which should be sellable. With that everyone that is not interested can just buy them and the rest have something to farm for by selling those.
They do try to encourage people into 24 mans. And yes they do become dead content all the way back in ARR you couldn't get the first one to pop after the second one came out. They had to add weekly rewards. I am a little surprised they haven't addressed the problem with SB ones not popping yet. But it might not be a Japanese problem and if they don't have an issue it seems to be low priority.
As the system is right now, it's stressing people to fish, fish, fish with as few break inbetween casts as possible. Even going as far as what as deciding if you should stand or sit on animation time, same with release. As soon as you can, you run to the side of the ship and start fishing, no taking in the enviroment at all except the first load-in.
The "problem" as I see it is the mount and titles being tied to a single trip. If these instead were tied to a total point or total catch it would do a lot to reduced forced stress on players. A 5k point trip won't feel wasted as it contributes to your overall progress for the mount, not the win/lose we have right now.
Also really wonder how future random events would be, if they're preventing people from fishing for some time it will be something people would avoid unless the time lost is off-set by a big point bonus. The same problem as people leaving if the first place doesn't spawn a rainbow right now.
the whole point of ocean fishing is making it easier to level fishing, it's not meant to be some hardcore ground for hardcore fishers lmao.
To be fair, this is what I find most ironic about the FSH class in general.
You get skills called Patience but in order to actually optimize while fishing, you have to be fast and fish fish fish.
Fish so you can get more casts in during "Patience" duration. Fish so you can try to catch fish in allotted time/weather constraints. Now, we have Ocean Fishing where you now have to fish for points and bonuses during limited time windows. All the while chugging Cordials like a drunkard in order to fuel all your fishing speed increases (Such as Double Hook, Patience itself, Chum etc)
Seems odd though, given that:
1) FSH is literally the easiest and quickest job to level up in the game anyway.
2) End-game FSH has frequently been starved for content due to how few fish are actually necessary for end-game cooking recipies. (Leaving the only real thing to do being to fill out your fishing log and then shelve the class until next expansion)
Honestly the worst thing about it is the 2 hour real world requirement. I literally could not do it more than 2-3 times a day normally, and I've not come close to the mount since the patch dropped. This content WILL die out quite quickly and then I will NEVER get the mount because RNJesus is the most Savage content out there...
They have stated this is just the frame of the content and plan on doing a lot more. Can we stop whining about every new thing that comes out?
Then they shouldn't have released it half-assed. Or at least not put highly coveted rewards into poorly thought out experimental content until they knew what they were doing. Look at how slowly they've been dragging their feet with adding any rewards or main content to Ishgardian Restoration until they really really really see how it is going to work, one step at a time. They screwed up with this and we have every right to tell them they screwed up.
given that you need to coordinate 8-man parties to get almost any of the titles associated with it. And that requires people to mostly be level 80 with high GP and hi-cordials and to fish super-efficiently, it is definitely meant to be hardcore content.
Like the entire system is designed around requiring the right baits at the right times to have a chance at doing well in anything.
Well random events could maybe trigger between the places which of course would not take away from the timer. Or these events could give a nice amount of points too. Honestly I would have loved it more if those points would just be exchanged into currency.
Of course thats why the only rewards this have (next to exp) is locked behind something which you only get as a low level fisher if you get like three rainbows. I mean if it was for leveling only then they could have just increased the amount of exp normal fishing gives you and be done with it. Or put no reward behind it at all because the exp would be enough.
Or it will die out because instead of giving them feedback which might help improve future updates they get only silence from us and thus wont even know why people might not like it. And then we might wait forever for no new content for this to come because they dont believe that the time spent for it would be good investment.
Feedback is something which they want. Yoshida himself stated this more than once.
And sorry but seeing how we even lost another dungeon because of time and money I wont stop posting my opinion about new stuff..because if it dies fast then the time and money could have been spend elsewhere.
i think it'd be more fun if combat jobs could come along and defend the boat from aggressive mobs (and get bonuses in doing so)
or provide some manner of bonus, like bards playing sea shanties giving +gp regen or a bonus to gathering/perception, machinists providing sonar equipment/a thresher to throw all your worthless fish into
That might just mean that most people would just go there with their combat jobs and would took away from the first new real fishing content. Honestly just install some kind of weapons on the boat or give us some special skills when a fight happens (like using those spears for fishing for fighting) and even a fisher should be able to defend themselves just fine.
It would be interesting to have "battle" style fishing on board the ship using large-scale fishing tools like harpoon cannons and large fishing nets to catch truly massive big fish like krakens or sea serpents and whatnot. The tools would function like the usual weapons we can use in places like Steps of Faith. Each one would have a few different options for attacking the enemy in order to lower their HP, immobilize them, and ultimately catch them and add them to your fishing log, sort of like pokemon, heh. Different tools would be suited for taking down different kinds of beasties. The "damage" you do and the success rate/duration of immobilizing them and chance of capturing them can be related to your gathering and perception stats, with GP being used to activate the abilities.
All time slots to fish as of 7pm EST Sat are booked through Monday 5pm EST. Booking a game event days in advance is a thing now?
Thanks! I figured it out!!
You don't absolutely need tripple rainbow for the mount, just some good dice rolls. An fc member got a 12k score from a single rainbow run. They lucked out and got three !!! double hooks during the rainbow that brought back 4 HQ fish each.
The spectral fish or rare intuition fish all seem to have a chance at triggering a rainbow, but no guarantee. The entire event is a ton of dice rolls.
It seems like every time SE tries something new gameplay-wise it fumbles 90% of the time.
Diadem, Lords of Verminion, Eureka.
I wish SE would find a way to host beta tests for new content before they are deployed. Even random surveys would suffice.
I actually enjoyed the content. Leveled my Fisher from 30 to 80 mostly through ocean fishing and just got my shark-mount 2 hours ago (had an awesome group with +80% bonus at the end, pushing my 7k way over 12k - S/O to you guys!). I'm now more or less finished with the content but I had a good time while it lasts.
- The timer should be for fishing time, you should be able to fish until zero, and then start a separate 30 seconds of doing nothing and being sad.
- You should be allowed to change bait in the 30 seconds. If this is some technical limitation and the servers can't handle changing bait that's incredibly depressing.
- Getting spectral should stop the timer so that the last minute and a half of a run doesn't feel like you've already run out of time.
I have yet to get higher than 7k points. this is ridiculous. If I wanted to have to fight against stupid RNG within RNG within RNG I'd play poe again.
Run it 20+ times already, still have to see 3 rainbows in one run despite trigger it myself a few times.
My fisher was already at 80 so i'm running it solely for the mount.
I agree with OP as rng is now very frustrating.
It's obvious the feature will run dry (heh) in a week or so and then bye bye chance to get the mount
This game will be a lot fun if you are stop being content locust and trying to consume a content as fast as possible and move to next “unfortunate” content. Sea fishing is very enjoying as it is. Do a fish trip, then go to other content likes PvP, Eden, Nier, etc. Please stop being a content locust and let every enjoy this content
"Trying to consume a content as fast as possible"
It's not particularly hard, given how limited the longevity of most content is...
As I said, I did a single Ocean Fishing expedition, totalling 25 minutes and by blind luck managed to get all the meaningful rewards from it.
So what now? Move on to other content? Such as? Eden? Done it. Nier? Done it. Beast Tribe Dailies? I still do my 3 quests a day for each faction. MSQ? Up to date within 2 days of casual play.
That's one of the key points of feedback pertaining to things like this. Longevity is lacking in many of the pieces of content in the game. With the Devs seemingly only knowing how to prolong content by making it into a tediously long grind (See: Eureka which most people did not finish through Hydatos)
Most of the content that has "Longevity" revolves around spamming Duty Roulettes (Leveling alt jobs and grinding Tomestones for gear) or spamming GATES (Getting MGP for Gold Saucer goodies). Which can get old pretty fast.
So, when a new piece of content gets developed and added in, forgive us if we actually play it to take a break from 24/7 Duty spam...
If we could do that, it'd be great, but most people won't. Then when it does quieten down, there'll be less to trigger the rainbow, less chance to earn the 10k points needed for the mount meaning that there's no reward for doing it.
If you're getting EXP, that's great, but doing it at 80 and getting nothing but a few yellow scrips is pointless.
You just need to check The Firmament to see how this will end up.
