You're supposed to look away when a lady is undressing, sheesh.

When did they say that?
She was never completely undressed (well, I never bothered looking closely during the fight, but certainly not in the cutscenes), and Shiva is probably an adult, so it wasn't simply Ryne.Quote:
Also, Square: Here's Ryne/Shiva sexualized and getting completely undressed in a raid...
EDIT: Ok, Savage she was temporarily undressed, but still covered by light.
Please. It's like no one's ever seen Sailor Moon. Mahou shoujo transformations aren't sexual unless it's Cutie Honey or intentionally so. And even in Cutie Honey it's less XXX and moreso provocative in a flashy, glamorous way. Wedding Peach, Madoka, Tokyo Mew Mew. It's all there.
People who equate some mild nudity with "sexualization" have some serious personal issues that should be worked out.
Also, it seems to have stopped people from discussing the actual interesting parts of what's presented in that fight - for her ultimate she seems to strike the exact same pose as Hydaelyn in the mural of the Sundering, and her transformation in savage seems to look very similar to Ran'jit from the solo story fight with him. Could be a hint of something to come, but at the very least they're cool callbacks for people to notice.
I thought it was alright... It didn't feel incomplete like the Kefka fight. And yes, I know that the last fight of the respective savage tends to have an extra form attached to it but the dev team often does a good job at making the default/normal mode fight feel... Idk, complete? Kefka stands out to me cause when you do it normal it reaches a point where mechanics just repeat for a taaaaad too long, making you think "hm... it's almost as if something is or was supposed to be here but isn't in this mode."
Didn't get really get much of that feeling out of this one. Boss has an extra form in Savage but I don't think it looks very good... what with a certain dragon's head just kinda... hanging out.
If there was any encounter I was truly disappointed with in this tier, it was the third one. Felt uninspired... you fight a geometrical figure surrounded by a flock of smaller sin eaters on the same platform on which you fought Voidwalker in the last tier. Just... meh all around.
Did you miss the entire last letter? Yoshi spent an entire hour telling people not to use lewd mods because it makes the game look bad. People are just saying its a bit hypocritical to pose Ryne in such a way immediately after that huge hour long statement. Obviously its not the same thing, but its still hypocritical.
As much as I enjoyed the aesthetic of the fight, I do feel Shiva and Hyda-Ryne should have been their own encounters respectively. Combining the two dampened the emotional impact both could have had on their own, not to mention it robbed Ysayle of her much deserved "return". I am looking forward to how the fight changes with Savage, though it's a shame it's not canon.
Unfortunately a lot of people, especially in the west, cannot tell the difference.
I had an at length discussion with a friend about how the west would see this. And as a student of the arts, you honestly can get used to seeing nudity and not bat an eye (thanks life drawing).
It should be of note, Yoshi-P approved this. I would think if he thought it would be that big of a deal, she could/would be given a different form. I think her fusion is beautiful. It's angelic, and in a way, a tragic form of unity because you know she's going through what Ice Heart did, but ten times worse. What would a divine being need of dressing like normal?
At least squall 2.0 was tsundere for only a little while. But she's still not cool.
Time to learn Savage.
The way I see that is that they didn't really have the time to set that up like they wanted. Gaia is outright rude to everyone for the entirety of the tier, and the questline ends with Thancred and Urianger stating that they're likely going back home in 5.3 and will not be around for the Raid's conclusion in 5.4.
It might just be bias on my part, but I'm inclined to believe that Gaia's development from rude to nice was meant to occur in the third tier, much like Ramza in Ivalice, since it did feel a bit like it was on fast forward. But delaying it that long would require Thancred and Urianger to go "Okay, we're out Ryne. Have fun staying with this girl who hates you once we all go back to our original lives." And that'd be pretty terrible!
I for one like terrible people in my happy go lucky story lines. She'll have a change of heart for her girlfrie- I mean new friend, but it's a pleasant reminder that not everyone likes you or your company right off the bat. And as a Eulmoran set in the mentality of Lord Vauthry's reign, it'd be weird to have her sweet and serene immediately.
Because someone who's lost his memory and not understanding what's going on in general or what to do and having a voice in his head should be nice to everyone. We don't know much about her or her previous life but Eden story is not over yet, so she most likely has her reasons to act like she does.
And Gaia doesn't hate Ryne, she just finds her annoying at first for obvious reasons.
Idk i kind of liked it
I have no idea how you misinterpreted what I wrote as "Gaia should be nice to everyone right off the bat regardless of her circumstances" when what I actually said was "It'd be really terrible if Urianger and Thancred left before Gaia shifted to becoming nicer towards her since Ryne wouldn't have anyone on the First to emotionally connect to until Tier 3 of the story". There wasn't a single point in that post where I criticized Gaia for being rude or said that it didn't make sense.
Idk if it was just me being tired and cranky when I started those quests, but to me Gaia kinda just came off as a stereotypically edgy bratty teenager for the entirety of the first set of quests, and learning more about her brought understanding but did absolutely nothing to make her less unlikeable lmao... maybe it's partly because at first glance she doesn't LOOK like a young teenager the way Ryne does, so I thought she was like 20 and was like "hmm wow nasty lady" until I realized that she is, in fact, a teenager. Guess I missed the text that said how young she is (and the fact she's wearing 6" platform heels...) and it threw off the whole first impression <.<
It is a nice change of pace to not have everyone fawning over us every five minutes, so I'm with you there, but my god she was annoying. Not done the quests yet though so maybe my thoughts will change, we'll see.
Has anyone pointed out that the OP is acting just like Gaia? I find that kinda funny.
Honestly i thought it was pretty great easily one of the best fights in the game imo atleast style wise
I love how when teenagers are actually written like teenagers people hate them. Gaia is such an edgy goth brat and shes wonderful.
Also speaking of e8, I still get chills from that last phase.
Weeb lovers might like it but others might hate it.
Personally I hated her because she was written like a stereotypical teenager :p maybe a tiny handful of actual teenagers I've met have acted that openly hostile and nasty, and I thought they were... y'know. Nasty. For acting like that. But this is harkening back to my high school days... maybe I just got lucky enough to not encounter that many obnoxiously rude bratty people there lmao. /Shrug
Anyway now that I've actually finished the quests, Gaia does get much less annoying and I think the fight was actually pretty cool. Weirdly easy though? Like, e8 felt way easier than any of the others. I think we had maybe one wipe if any, and all of the mechanics seemed really straightforward once I'd seen them.
Watched Savage tho and it looks like a nightmare in comparison lol
Fair enough. Thinking about it, I don't think my earlier post is really quite accurate. It was just my initial gut reaction as I was watching the cutscenes the first time through. I probably would've thought she was just as insufferable if she was a person I was stuck sitting next to in my freshman year bio class. Looking back and taking the story as a whole, she probably is a good portrayal of a rude spoiled brat of a teenager. It wasn't my experience that most people I encountered and interacted with were that particular flavor of nasty spoiled brat, but that might not mean a whole lot lol. Whether she was an accurate portrayal a particularly angsty teen or not, that kind of attitude is just grating from anyone.
So really, the unfortunate outcome was that I disliked her because she was acting like a nasty spoiled brat, aaand because I didn't actually realize she was a teenager until a couple of cutscenes in - I thought she was a young adult acting like a nasty spoiled brat, which totally colored my opinion of her differently. I disliked her less when I realized how young she actually was, and by the end I actually kind of started to like her because she stopped going out of her way to be hostile and rude. I disliked her as a "person" at first but I don't necessarily dislike her as a character.
In short, doing story cutscenes will tired and cranky is bad, and I maybe got a little too in character because there was also some "dude stop being nasty to Ryne wtf???" mixed in there.
It's flashy, I'll give it that - though I think Titan was a much more impressive fight.
Ehh I liked it
