So I will not be able to participate in the majority of the progressing stages. Great. Someone on reddit just mentioned that the stages can be pushed through hand ins and fate spawns WITHOUT any timely restrictions, which seems even worse than S hunts.
I'm really displeased now. Was so excited to help Ishgard rebuild and see them progress, but it seems, others do the work. What will be the leader boards be, #1 all hogged by one person from another server besides my own?
This really is silly. I'd like the opportunity to participate in my own world's event. As it is, I guess I'll have to try server-hopping. As it is, you have to try and get there an hour early...
I would welcome the help, but by doing so, you are pushing the progress from a different server artificially and people from their homeserver WILL feel as if they hadn't contributed enough at all. (Not to mention they'd miss out the transitions of the phases, while people server hopping people prob. seen it alreasy thrice or so)
People choose a low pop server for a reason. If they decide to accomplish things in a slower pace, let them. Don't take the experience of new content from them!
Once the progress bar for the stage is completed, it doesn't matter how many crafters are turning in collectables. Everything is waiting on the timer.
Servers came up for JP prime time so they had plenty of crafters on hand to push progress right away. EU progress was steady at first since servers came up during EU mid morning hours then surged forward when their prime time hit.
It was dead of the morning in NA when servers came up so very few players online then and not that many more were coming online during the midday hours. We managed to get our progress bars completed before or just as our prime time was starting but it was slow due to fewer players in general online.
NA's status has nothing to do with a general lack of crafters and much to do with the timing of when the content became available. If the servers had come online at 8pm Eastern instead of 5am, you can be sure that our progress would be much farther than it is right now while JP and EU would have been the ones appearing to lag behind.
I think Squeenix was, as usual, thinking locally and not globally when it came to the "problem" it was trying to ensure they preemptively fixed.
I have no doubt they looked at the smaller JP worlds, went "I dont think Tiamat's 37k population could do later steps easily without world visit" and ignored that the smallest non JP server (outside Spriggan and Twintania) has more than DOUBLE that population. They probably also didnt take into account that theres people on each cluster who would make a discord for the sole purpose of ensuring they camp out in each servers Firmament as soon as it the fate unlocked, for the purpose of ensuring as many people as possible on the home server got screwed out of doing a badly-designed fate. (Its a poorly designed, brainless fate and the reward is the equivalent of 9 collectable turnins. You arent actually missing anything if you didnt get to see it).
Servers came up between 2 and 5 am local time, and NA still had a server racing for world first.Quote:
Interesting, still phase 1 for most NA servers. On Chaos only Spriggan is still in phase 1. Guess NA people just do not like crafting?
Servers are locked at phase 1 for 10 hours after you turn in enough items to advance them, 2 for the fate and 8 after the fate finishes. Based on the average time it took servers to finish, this puts each server unlocking each phase roughly a couple hours earlier each time. Which means JP and EU should finish phase 2 (and EVERY subsequent phase) well before most NA servers do, because NA will perpetually unlock each phase somewhere between 2 and 5 am, which means most NA servers wont have any real completion done until the afternoon, because the difference between 5 am and 3 am unlocks is like 10 people.Quote:
Not sure what your point is. NA had all morning, day and evening. EU had half of morning, day and evening since it seems nothing much progressed overnight...
I just checked our server after ariving at work quick and the second phase is allready over 50%. I have a normal life so i didnt had that mutch time yesterday. After checking all that new stuff out and getting used to it, it was allready so late again that i needed to log off. What happens once the restoration is finished, cant i earn any scripts anymore or what?
I was also a bit disapointed, i thought we get an overworked Eureka for Gathering the mats, instead they just added a few new nodes in the old zones. Also the requirements for the Ishgard stuff are so low that there is even no need to get the newest Gather/Crafter equip. I thought first about getting the new 460 gear to, but there is simply no need i can still craft everything easy to max with my old stuff. They could made atleast the max lvl collectibles for ishgard harder to craft and giving us a bit higher rewards for them.
this world visit thing...is stopping me from shopping... I need all these peeps to get off my lawn so I can actually go shop D:!!! I was not expecting to see literally 100's of players crowding the Aetherite trying to warp to the next world...like what? And it's almost 2 am...sigh when is this over again? I was excited about it but now I'm over it.
/rant.
But on a less rant note, I really hope they change this...
Another suggestion an FC mate mentioned that would help: Kick AFKers. If someone gets the AFK buff, boot them from the instance.
Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer & Director Yoshi-P.
We have received a lot of feedback regarding the Ishgardian Restoration and have been following the ongoing discussion. Thank you for your interest in this new content!
There are two points in particular that I would like to address.
World Visit System and Firmament Player CapAround the time that concerted works began, we saw a lot of players using the World Visit System, which caused the Firmament in the World they are visiting to reach its player cap, and many players were unable to participate in concerted works in their Home World as a result.End-game Content for Crafters and Gatherers
This point came up during the development of the Ishgardian Restoration, and we were aware of the risks involved in players visiting other Worlds to help. However, we decided not to place those kinds of restrictions on the World Visit System for the following reasons:
- The number of crafters and gatherers varies considerably between Worlds. The Worlds with the most crafters and gatherers have over four times as many as those with the least.
- Worlds with low numbers of crafters and gatherers would struggle to carry out concerted works without visitors from other Worlds, creating a risk that those players would not be able to experience this content as intended.
The difference in the number of active crafters and gatherers is the main reason for the varying degrees of progress between the various Worlds shown on the Lodestone’s Builders’ Progress Report.
To help ease this disparity, we decided to allow players to visit other Worlds within their data center and lend their assistance to the Ishgardian Restoration efforts of that World.
This is the first time we have implemented this type of cross-world content, and we apologize for the issues described above. However, for the first few days following the release of this content, we would like to observe the trends in each World before coming to any decisions.
We understand that being unable to participate in the Ishgardian Restoration on your own World can be very stressful. But please rest assured that we are preparing emergency measures that we can put into action should the situation deteriorate, at which time an announcement will be made. In the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding as we work to improve your experience with this content.Based on the information shared in the Producer’s Live Letter, a number of players were under the impression that the entirety of the Ishgardian Restoration would be designed as end-game content. Following its release, some of these players have expressed opinions that it does not contain anything difficult enough to be considered end-game content, and have been disappointed as a result. And as always, we are grateful to all of you─the players─for your feedback and support!
As we recently discussed in the Producer’s Live Letter, the Ishgardian Restoration is planned for release in installments across several patches, and while we are taking end-game content into consideration as we continue to develop various systems for this content, what was released in Patch 5.11 is but the first of these installments.
I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the concepts behind the Ishgardian Restoration as a whole. This content is linked to the story that unfolds in the main scenario, and for the most part, it is designed so that it can be enjoyed by all of our players.
It is worth bearing in mind that the quest to unlock this content can also be completed by Disciples of War and Magic, and that low-level crafters and gatherers are able to take part in its core elements. In fact, the improvements in Patch 5.1 to make crafters and gatherers more accessible are directly linked to the concept for the Ishgardian Restoration.
Our aim was to introduce crafting and gathering to players who have never tried it before, so we designed this opening section to appeal to as many players as possible. For that reason, concerted works were created in a way that does not demand a high degree of skill to enjoy.
Rather than beginning by narrowing down the types of player who can participate, we made this first installment in Patch 5.11 in a way that would allow players to experience the restoration as an ongoing and evolving project, since this is the start of a new series of content. For the first part, the various elements that comprise it are remarkably simple, and it currently does not include any of the end-game content that the development team is considering. In particular, the concerted works were created to allow as many players as possible to participate.
As for the upcoming installments, we plan to provide a substantial crafting and gathering experience, as well as introduce aspects designed as end-game content. You will begin to see these updates from Patch 5.2 onwards.
We apologize to those crafters and gatherers─including fishers─who were expecting new ways to play, but we will be adding high-difficulty recipes, a ranking system, and scratch-off tickets (name TBD) in future updates, which we are sure will be worth the wait.
More details will follow in an upcoming Producer’s Letter Live, so please keep an eye out for that.

* Updated since the initial post.
We have been reviewing the data for each World up until this afternoon (Japan time), and have verified that the commencement of concerted works in and of itself is not causing issues on any World. Therefore, in order to alleviate the previously discussed congestion for the time being, we have opted to prevent players using the World Visit System from participating in the Ishgardian Restoration on other Worlds.
This change does not require us to perform server maintenance, and the necessary work can be carried out on each World in real time.
Read on for details.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused over the last few days. We will continue to monitor the situation and should the need arise, take further steps to ensure the smooth running of this content.
Thank you Yoshi P <3
Cheers for clearing that up x
Thank you for the response Yoshi P!
Glad to know there are emergency measures in place should things go further south.
Here's to hoping things clear up a bit.
Couldn't you just have it so Concerted Works function the same as any other FATE? Where the difficulty/amount required to finish it dynamically changes based on the number of people in the zone? Then there's no risk of a server being unable to finish it based on low population with a World Visit lockout on the content. That way a dead server with 5 crafters can finish it the same as a busted server with 5,000 crafters.
The only difference would then be the rate they finish the stockpile phase at, which honestly I think is fine. More than fine, actually, if you're on a smaller server then sure it would take longer, but I think individually you'd feel you had a bigger impact, no? More of a sense of pride in your server when you do finish it? Where as with how it is now, it doesn't really feel like a world event anymore. It feels like me and my server spent time working on it, then an influx of Wanderer's came in to steal credit at the last minute. Saw plenty of Wanderer's acting like they were Gods gift to Twintania last night, wasn't particularly a welcome sight. I'd rather have finished stockpiling much slower than tired my eyes out rolling all night at those kinds of comments.
Much obliged. Thanks for the response, Yoshi-P!
Yes for something that was supposed to be a community and server thing.. it makes no sense they allow world visitors.
2 crafts and i went and did other stuff because it was just crazy the amount of people, i do not like large crowds even in game, lol
Thanks for the response I guess? But isn't the issue here that players from other worlds aren't joining to help with the actual gathering/crafting? They are camping out for the fate that happens and locking people out of their own servers instance? I don't see how those two things relate to one another and is justifiable.
Yeah I saw that but if there is one thing this community has proved time and time again is that no amount of pleading with them to do the right thing will change their behavior. They will need to be forced to stop to fix this issue, in the mean time the situation will get more toxic. It always does.
Good response, but I kinda disagree with the idea that low pop worlds needed this help. While certainly we would've seen a growing disparity, I can't really imagine it being terribly influential. Maybe us low pop servers would've liked to take our time on it. We'll still get there in the end. World visit for this could've just been something left off until it was clear that some/many worlds were not progressing at the pace devs hoped/intended. Part of why I feel this way is that, I choose to assume, there are many players on low pop worlds that enjoy the low pop feeling, and being crowded out of this content would be a huge turnoff. Personally, I'm much less inclined to participate due to the area positively brimming with bodies.
I am also not sure why they did not at least make it so that if you have to turn in a certain amount of items to participate in that. Also if they feared that lower servers wont be able to do it then maybe make it so that the fate itself is easier with less people (just like the stuff in Eureka) and for the rest of the turn ins you could easily watch and see if these servers can do it or not. I mean its not like it has a big timer and if people really want housing then they should be able to do this.
(Or they could have just not given any rewards to those that take part in fates that are not from their own server. This way only those will help that truly just want to help)
First of all, I wanted to say my thanks for this type of content. It really feels amazing working as a server on a project! It definetly makes a lot of fun seeing many players around and just aiming for the restoration of Ishgard, each on their own server. I've been waiting for this type of content since ARR!
But sadly there will be always those people that like to abuse the system and grind their tokens super fast, with almost no effort. I can only advice to limit the FATE to people of the same server. If a low population server needs help, then other servers should and only should help out by delivering collectibles!
Well I was wrong. I was sure this was going to be a housing situation and they would ignore it. This part is ruined for some people. But going forward if the content is truly long term and they actually have something they can do a 2 week logout all worlds would be reasonable. Stuff calms down and if your server wasn't able to get it done and you missed your server you can help slower servers.
As much as I enjoy ishgard restoration so far, challenging content for endgame crafters and gatherers should’ve taken priority as there are no relics currently and the savage tier was last patch. Ultimate is a thing BUT remember only 1% of the games population does it AND on crystal yesterday I did not see a single PF for ultimate. Yes there is plenty of other content to do but endgame crafters and gatherers are basically bored to tears with the revamp easing the difficulty of both and no real challenging stuff to do. (You can grind out scripts really fast if you know how) Entry level systems for new players should’ve been back seated as getting the average joe into crafting and gathering has been a problem since the games launch. It wouldn’t have killed anyone to hold off a little longer and make content active players could’ve enjoyed then appeal to the newer players once you’ve fleshed said systems out. Gatherers can’t participate at the moment (except in concerted works) and restoration has no timer in the menus either which is kinda a bummer.
ALSO yeah build a wall and keep other servers out or limit the amount of wanderers that can participate in concerted works. Coeurl was flooded with people from balmung and maetus telling people to show up earlier if they wanted to participate in the firmament. which, playing devils advocate for a moment, is technically correct with how the system is set up. Other then these gripes I look forward to ishgard restoration.
This, so much. The reason why I chose a low pop server is because I didn't want to be part of world first racing games and congested places. I like to play content with moderate pacing so I won't miss out the details every patch entails. I'm not much of a "rusher".
In regards to the restoration issue... Low pop servers might not stand a chance with content where big numbers rule (eg. leaderbord in this particular case), but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be able to complete said content at all. It would only get troublesome, if it was a time gated event and the goal HAS to be reached within a certain timeframe (which is likely to have Isghard fully restored, and let's say, for example, it needs to be complete at the end of next month). This alone would become a disadvantage for servers with low crafters/gatherers, since Ishgard housing is still tied to restoration. But it's not like cross-world players can purchase wards outside their homeworld, so wanderers helping out with the progression is kinda fruitless toil - at the first glance. Contributing to another server surely is not a selfless act, as they can spawn the next fate with their hand-ins, meaning one or multiple groups can control the restoration flow of the whole datacenter. Not a bright perspective tbh. It's ultimatively the same mechanism hunting communities do with S rank spawns. And we all know the polarized opinions regarding hunting communities.
I really wonder how long these stages are. I mean if its something that might take an active server a month to beat then it really should not be a problem with lower servers (if people want housing to be unlocked) because the new patch for this is months away. So I really dont understand that need for help at all. And if its planned to be so long that it would take even active servers until the next big patch then I question on why they did that? Because there could then be the problem that even higher servers might not want to finish it and why would people then even take their time to help smaller servers? I doubt that they meant the fate with help since they have the ability to change its difficulty so there should be no problem with not many people there. So its the turn ins. Will people really go to lower servers to help with turn ins? I mean right now you can just do nothing and still get the whole credit in the fates so why should people even do that, especially if they already did enough for their own server? Also if that content really takes months to complete for active servers then why give out so many rewards? People just need to do a couple of fates and a couple of turn ins and can probably buy most of the stuff.
I am really not sure if they planned that out so greatly.
Thanks Yoshi,we really needed that!
I'm sure things will die down soon, but I kinda wish they blocked them off now.
If they wait a week or so, it'll be fair game for all others servers to be able to
do the FATE's and stuff and progress on their own right off the go.
this ideal is awesome one
some many craftsmen there
World Visiting should be disabled for the firmament for at least 1 month. That way you can establish a baseline of which servers need help, then make adjustments from there. Its crazy that there are so many wanderers in my own world taking up space that my own people cannot get in.
If low population servers need help (which I hardly doubt Zalera is behind Balmung but not that much far behind) then why don't they just adjust how much help each fate needs? It goes for 30 mins when it initially pops so to me they must be thinking what if there is hardly any people doing the fate? And if it fails why not adjust it like they did with shb fates where they're harder or easier based on how many people participated. That way if a low pop is truly struggling and we fail our next fate timer would just make it easier for our smaller numbers.
But seeing how in the middle of the night Zalera had their fate again and we're almost ready trigger the count down for another one- ya call bs on this. I hardly doubt the good people of larger servers are donating items to us.
I really, really enjoyed watching Mor Dhona evolve and grow. Same with Idyllshire and being able to progress a zone on my own like the Doman Enclave was really nice. Taking screenshots and finding the little changes is the best part of these developments in my opinion.
That's why the thing that bothers me the most about this new content is the fact that I'll never get to see the initial look of the zone for myself now. It's done and gone forever. No screenshots to add to my collection. No little discoveries.
It would be one thing if the first of the changes took a few days to complete, at least giving interested parties a chance to experience things. On the day of the patch though to go to work and excitedly come back, ready to build...only to find out I had missed some of the development already was disheartening.
Between the huge number of people clogging the zone making it impossible to even get in and the short time between growth events what chance does a large number of the player-base even have to experience this content? It's frustrating and extremely disappointing.
Donate is a stretch and you are thinking of it the wrong way. They couldn't get it done on their server so they are getting it done on yours. It isn't about helping you at all, just like when all those people who come to full server. They aren't their for help they are their to get carried. Shitty behavior both ways.
