There is balance though 1 Job will always be able to outshine others in some type of content. But all Jobs can beat all content with ease.
You call monk gimp on ifrit just because it takes damage from seer's. Even though its easily managed and not even a factor In terms of a jobs usefulness in that fight.
I already said.. classes don't have to be perfectly balanced ( They don't have to deal the same damage ) BUT they should be able to enter a fight and not be counter productive like Monk is in the Ifrit fight. Monk requires healing and brings nothing extra to the table = not viable.
All they have to do is bump Monks auto attack range up and problem solved.
Just because they get hits by seers and a couple other jobs that get hit by seers makes the Jobs not balanced? /doublefacepalm
No not problem solved. Then monk will be OP. Monk has the highest DPS of any class right now on Aurum.
You are not looking at the big picture but just one fight. Fights are balanced when all jobs can beat the fight. Yes some will be harder then others but thats what make the classes Unique
Are you kidding? Taking dmg when White mages have limitless MP makes a job gimp?
every job should be viable and balanced for every fight. The game will be anti-fun if not.

Every battle class/job is viable in the content we have now.
There are certain combinations that make beating certain content easier or faster, but it doesn't mean that it cannot be done any other way.
One of my LSs often does Ifrit and Moogles with 1 or 2 pugilists/monks because the members like playing those. To them it's fun to work around the limitations, and gain the benefits of that job (usually high damage output).
When is monk ever a better pick over a warrior or dragoon in any content currently out?
I never saw any monk out DD my BLM, in anything.
Taking 4 BLM and nuking 5-10 mobs down in 3 seconds with fire is alot more preferable to taking MNK or DRG.
and then BLM has a twitch stun which can be very very usefull, especially when you have 3-4 blms.

Can monk do content? sure they can, but i LOL everytime i see one get one-shoted by coincounter or die from eruptions when hes in the middle of his combo.
dont get me wrong, i would love to take me Dragoon to everything but im not blind to the fact that multiple ranged players (specifically BLM) is far more efficient.
And its obvious allmost every other player realises this when im constantly asked to go BLM when i have DRG geared up... and that is the real problem.
Monk is currently close to the worst not bringing anything except nice kite powers to fights which isn't enough to make up for the rest of its shortcomings
You basically want to take no dmg when fighting. You have two options now, go play a ranged dps or play on a private server where you can do what ever you want. I dont see the point of having fun doing these type of battles without any risk. They might as well have an NPC outside giving away free boss items.
In FFXI the AoE range of some mobs were huge (30 yalms) that even some range jobs got hit and I never heard anyone complain about the AoE there. People knew what to expect, so either run away or take the damage and hope your healers can keep up. Thats how a game should be! Thats why we have healers, tanks, range and melee dps. Its all about making a perfect balance in your group and adapting to what you have.
Thats the funny thing, if ranged dps took damage it wouldnt make a difference if you took melee, as it stands right now is you are much more vulnerable as melee, and on top of that the BLM will STILL out dps you..
maybe if melee didnt have to <run away> for over half the fight then they would out dps the blm.
Just did Ifrit in 5 mins with 4 mnks 1blm 2whm and 1 war. Ya monk is so gimp at ifrit.
Lol looking at his Lodestone he hasn't beaten Darkhold/Aurum Vale or Cutter's cry so i seriously doubt he knows anything about how amazing monk is at those fights

I think it is because people afraid to try. It is problem with pickup party, where people want to do it as efficient as possible. So they dont have time to try new things (altough it is fun). on Ifrit, i think if WHM can keep regen on MNK and do aoe+stoneskin everytime ifrit jump, the monk will fine. anyway, what is average damage of MNK AA on ifrit?
You want to boost monks dmg because it gets hit by seer's in ifrit. Even though Its the best DD by far in Aurum Vale.

Funny i never said boost mnks damage i'm asking for a Range increase. See you're not even reading your just typing what ever makes you feel better or good inside. Pay attention. A range increase wouldn't increase dmg in those fights, only in ifrit, and any other upcoming poorly designed fights.
If a class has a weakness like monks (having short range) they should have something to make up for it. I'm not saying they can't do high damage. I'm saying in fights like ifrit they are trash and although they might still do good dmg to him it comes at a MUCH HIGHER COST then other classes for the same if not worst damage.
Usable doesn't mean equal. I still see some class/job are more prefer than other classes/job.
I agree that the classes still not balance enough to the point that new player will be able to do fine by having one job leveled only yet. Still need more adjustment work.
most people are doing fine now, because we all have been leveled up everything beforehand, but new player would think differently.
If anything its the Community that makes it unbalanced. They go out see a video of a fight with one setup and eveyrone copies that setup. that is the reason you see Chimera groups looking for brd/blm. the 1st win's were with that setup. most parties probably never even tried a drg/mnk in chimera.
Monks elemental fists costs mana, and dps is not that much greater. Warrior doesn't share the same range it can out range ifrits sear. Lancers get extra tp.... from meditate so ur point about dragoon is mute. BLM ENMITY ISSUES AHAHAHA yeah right. Freeze and chameleon = easy mode hate. stop trolling
blm spells cost mp to. But thats not a weakness because they can keep it up the entire fight just like monk. Drg Dps isn't close to a good monk. and War is still in Seer's range at it's max range.
Once again Stop looking at only ifrit and branch out to other content. It's not the only content out there. And Right now it's a compete joke to beat with any job.
