If you are going to level multiple jobs with trusts, would it not be more efficient to level multiple to 73 first and move on to next dungeon when trusts are ready?

I've only done Trust dungeons as a tank, and the only word I can describe them with is boring.
As a Gunbreaker, I didn't do too much damage, most of the DPS came from the Trust NPCs, and the healer would keep me alive unless I pulled too much. All I had to do was make a pull, do some AoEs to get aggro and I could literally just go afk as the DPS clear the mobs one by one. Only fights you had to actually participate in were bosses and with 3-4 trash mob pulls between bosses it left you with a lot of doing nothing.
I do like trusts, but I agree that they can be boring to run with after the first few runs, especially because of the lack of aoe.
Also, can anyone confirm if trusts get any new abilities through levelling? Would be nice to have an incentive to level more than 3/4 trusts to 80
The only reason I'm not doing this is because I only have one tank at 71 right now, so I decided on the current plan instead. But now that I think about it, it does makes a lot more sense. Maybe I will see if I can get GNB to 71 and try it with the next batch of three Trusts.
I would add on being a tank in a Trust is god awful, especially if you prefer pulling to the wall. the AI doesnt do any AOE rotation as far as Im aware and if the healer is casting Malefic, they wont stop to heal me even if im going to die. its probably good for learning to tank but not for any fast tank leveling.
I disagree and in fact seriously hope this result was intentional.
They NEED systems that funnel more tanks and healers into the Duty Finder while funneling more DPS out of it.
I would consider it bad design to NOT funnel players into content that best smooths out the experience for the largest number of players. Meaning systems that widen bottlenecks by encouraging the crowd to steer away and encourage the thin-links to steer towards.
I think the issue is that I don't think it's going to funnel people out of trust dungeons and into the duty finder, I think it has a good chance of funneling people completely out of healing and tanking and into DPS. If the system is inherently made to make it boring to be anything other than a damage dealer, people will become damage dealers.
The reason I feel it's bad game design is that there's already an incentive to going to the DF as a tank or healer (and DPS when the queues aren't atrocious) and that's time. Even bad DF groups will usually clear in 20-30 minutes, less if everyone is on their game. Trust dungeons usually end for me right at the 30 minute mark, though some ran a little longer.
You don't need to have trust dungeons be boring to funnel players. Even if trusts were the most interesting and fun way to do the dungeons, I'd eventually get back to the DF due to being able to knock out the grind in 1/2 to 2/3 of the time.
Yeah it's a 5.0 healer role problem. Not something inherent in the Trust system.
That said, I absolutely love the Trust system. I work from home and often there will be a couple of hours where I'm awaiting communications from a client, or just having no work after deliverying early, and I would fire up FFXIV. In the past I simply couldn't do any dungeon or party content during the day because I never know when I'd need to go back to work or get into a detailed discussion on the phone. I basically leveled most of my crafters and gatherers during the day.
Now with Trust, I can just stop, anytime. It's slower, yes, but it adds to the variety of things I could now do during the day. And I plan to level the Trust NPCs with jobs that I just won't be playing (but want them to be 80 for completion sake) as I feel that if I bring a job into a party with other people, I'm obliged to learn and perform appropriately, yet there are jobs that I'm simply not interested in learning. It's probably a professional habit from where I would decline work that is beyond my expertise.
I would actually wish they open up Trust for more low level dungeons, including some level 50/60/70 dungeons that I missed because I stopped playing during that period.
I've been farming Trust mostly as tank and DPS, though, as it's just faster to queue with real people as a healer. So I wouldn't mind seeing some QoL improvement to Trust for healers.
I think they are the worst regardless of role. I like the idea of them, but each run is a tedious slog, and the fact that the npcs take so many runs to level just kills it. I got a tank, a healer, and a dps to level 72, and I’m so sick of the level 71 dungeon that if I never see it again it’ll be too soon, and they aren’t even eligible to run the next dungeon yet. Nope, I’d have to run that 71 dungeon 87 more times (being hyperbolic obviously) in order to earn that privilege.
I guess they really didn’t want many people abandoning duty finder in favor of trusts for these dungeons, but this is just too much. I hope they adjust this in the future and make it so you don’t have to do quite so many runs to level up, and I also hope they keep adding onto it with more available dungeons.
