This happens every patch, I normally have 70+, but when a patch comes out it hits 0 pretty fast.
I'm hanging on to 20 anima for emergency teleportation now :P
I'm surprised there isn't much support for this from the "Anima ruins my immersion" crowd.. Doesn't this remedy their issue? Apparently they have a problem with the rest of the playerbase keeping their anima.. guess there not happy unless everybody else is unhappy..
And on that note.. I'd vote that we don't have an anima removal NPC. Forget'em and move on..
Why don't you all cut off your noses to spite your face?
Thats pretty much the point, people are too worried about how others get immersed in the game. I offer up a solution that would benefit people who don't want anima only while keeping the game the same for everyone else but some people are not happy unless everyone plays the way they do.
Replace anima with a system that allows you to indefinitely teleport between Aetheryte crystals?
That way you can teleport as much as you want, but you need to be near a crystal or node to do so, providing a more balanced focus between the adventurous and immersive travel anti-anima people want, while still allowing people to teleport without having to worry about anima conversion.
I just dont understand the point of putting in a NPC that will remove your anima. Just dont use it. And if you want to spend the hour on a chocobo to get to camp Dragonhead while the party tele's, dont be mad when they arent there anymore. Taking away the anima doesnt really solve anything without something else in its place. Give us the Outposts with the warps and a few teleports and im game. Alot of people dont have all day everyday to play, so why would we want to spend all that time on a chocobo and then its time to go to bed?
Sounds good to me. Call the NPC "Johnny Hardcore". When you talk to him, he says two things "You want the truth?" "You can't handle the truth!". With a nice little Yes/No dialog.
Selecting Yes garners the player the following benefits:
No Anima
No Teleporting.
XP for levelling reduced to 0 when not in a full party.
When you die, if you don't get a rez you lose 20%xp to next level, 10% if you get a rez. Losing levels possible.
NM spawns set to 72 hour timers.
Anytime you try to claim an NM, an NPC will spawn and steal your claim, it will then proceed to pwn in front of your face.
Did I miss anything?
The NPC mechanic i suggested would be optional just like getting a goobue. If you wish to play how you have been then no need to talk to him/her. Please refer to the 2 links in the op to see plenty of post about people who dont want to teleport.
HAHA, i love it.Quote:

Final Fantasy XIV is a MMO. Its whole concept is based on players interacting with each other and sharing the same virtual word. Think about what that means for this topic, if you can manage.
And while you're at it, try considering more than the extremes of a discussion instead of seeing everything in black and white.
Speaking of the word manage, I "managed" to come up with an idea that should please party's on both sides of the line. Players who want to teleport would have their anima stay as it has been. Players who dont want to teleport can opt to use the "anima wipe npc", name pending of course.
And for anyone who has not kept track of post, I would in fact keep my anima, this is a selfless idea to benefit players who don't want to teleport. Sometimes you just gotta think about others.
It seems you ignored my advice to think about how this game works.
Oh well, I guess ignorance is bliss for some.
I've never heard anyone clamoring to get rid of anima/teleporting. The only thing I've heard is folks that either want more anima per day or tele spells. Personally, I wouldn't be for the later if only one class could use them as in XI.
Maybe SE could make it so we have to use gil to teleport (as someone stated earlier) and that way they could fix the gil problem. I mean some people have so much gil that when AH's come they can bu whatever they want and really mess up the market. Teleporting by use of gil is an excellent gil sink.
Oh, awesome. Another one of these. Its funny because this one thinks its actually different.
i doubt that the people against anima dont use'em... everyone knows after all this job quest, that you can consume all your anima in 1 day if you're not careful and run all the week, so for me is a last resource thing, only if its too far and i dont have time i use anima, this people that are gainst anima im sure they want the whm taxi we had in XI, i rather have anima than asking someone to take me somwhere, wont be fair for new players. But i would agree that in order to use anima you need to be near a node, because all the lore they say there is and all.
so you want them too take their time making a NPC system to remove anima from 100-0 for you?
1: WHY dont you just not use it.
2: Thats would be a waste of time and SE would be dum if they listened to you.
3: again... dont use anima if you dont like it. problem solved.
White mage spell teleport to each city {can i have it}
If people would use Anima correctly there would not be a problem, I only use it when I am in a hurry, and I seem to always have some.
This is one of the silliest Ideas I have seen to date. Simply don't use it and it won't be an issue. Why should they waste the time to program something in that you can abolish yourself by simply not using it? Take the time in money to develop something that has no purpose.
See the problem with this thread- nay, this topic, is just how ridiculous the forum-goers ego is. The forums population, and community, is very, very small. It's just so damn vocal that it appears to be thriving. The majority of players don't even check them, and if they do, they generally avoid posting, because... Well. Ya know. It's crazy.
The idea of adding a function to appease some vocal minority who don't want the option to teleport around, while still maintaining that option for others would only create more complaint threads.
"Petition to have anima removed entirely in lieu of teleport spells."
"Petition to have anima reinstated."
"WTF, all these people are getting drops and enjoying content way, way ahead of me because I have to walk"
People will seriously bitch about anything.
In an MMO, no one person is important. That's right. You. Are. Not. Important. Neither am I. But together, with all of our friends... Now that matters.
The seventh umbral disaster will sever the aetherial stream that allows us to teleport using our energies.
I'd rather Anima be tradeable. If I don't want mine and someone else can't bother walking around then I can sell it to those dirty lazies and casuals that are ruining MMO's. Or if someone does me a favor I can repay them with some Anima.
