More viera hair (And the ability to use modern Aesthetics hair)

I support this so much. Form and Function and the braided hair from HoH are my favorite hairstyles and I want them so badly. The limited choice of hair styles is the only thing I dislike about Viera. Right now my retainers have fancier hair than my main xD I'm a daily customer with Jandelaine right now because I'm just unsatisfied with all the choices I make for hairstyle and colour :(

Yes please. Just because Hrothgar can't have more hairstyles doesn't mean that they should limit Viera as well. I understand it wouldn't look good to release Viera with all hair and Hrothgar all limited but the game's out now; adding all the previous hairstyles is easier on Viera than it was on Au ra, they sit in the same position as Miqo'te.

My guess is that they were waiting to see how popular bunnies were going to turn out to be before committing to undertaking the work to create new hairstyles/adapt existing ones.

It is a shame the abania plait (I think thats what its called) Would look stunning the viera. My oOC alt on metaus look awesome but I RP her as a sky pirate and I miss the dreads she used to have.

I think the Lightning hairstyle would implement perfectly with the Viera as well as the side braid. I really would love both and neither seem like the hair would be too much of a hinderance.

at the very minimum, I would like all of the hairstyles I've looted, bought and purchased (mogstation) to be available on Viera.The Lightning hair was specifically advertised as "female hair" and yet that isn't entirely true anymore.

I have hope they are working on this but that hole in both my in-game wallet and IRL wallet from buying hairstyles is getting itchy.

I'm sure next update will unlock the missing hair for Vieras. (I REALLY HOPE SO !)

The problem with this logic is people may get turned off and it will effect the popularity of the Viera to begin with.
People want the hairstyles they purchased/worked for. I don't see how Viera,who are so similar to miqote with the ear situation, would have an issue with having the existing shared hairstyles.

Agreed. Plus, I think the biggest annoyance is that the two brand new hairstyles featured in the expansion aren't even available. The new long haired style is probably my favorite in the entire game, and it's pretty disappointing I cannot use it as Viera.

I really hope they add hairs we buy... if they do not in future i would change to another race sadly same if i like viera

Anyone heard from Square if the next patch will have some new hairstyle/headgears available for Vieras? =/ I'm really waiting for an official statement, otherwise I will probably change back to Au Ra. The lack of hairstyles (medium-length especially) is annoying me.

I think when they say viera have unique heads they mean the ears. Because if you didn't notice, their ears actually move slightly backwards and thin when their at Max, to upwards and more rounded at the smallest size. At least for ears 1

The braid is going through the ears and that bang is clipping, it looks wrong.
Kinda confirms that yup, some hair styles wouldn't work well with Viera or would have to be heavy redesigns.

Yeah most mods only look good in still images why SE has some standards on gear and Hair styles and Why viera is a issue for them with hair styles

I spent a brief spell as a Viera when they first came out, and the lack of hairstyles was a major factor in my decision to switch back. I loved their height, the body proportions and their emotes but it wasn't enough. I realised I'd gone from a fairly unique character-model to something more generic. If I could have changed her hair, I might have found a look I liked and stuck with it, but right now, the customisation options are just too limited (yes, Hrothgar's have it worse but I don't think that should be used as a defence of the status quo). Not being able to use looted/purchased styles is a real annoyance. I think those should be a priority.

Obviously that's true with the size and position of the ears compared to Miqo'te. However, they would just be reworking hairs like this to fit the viera head, they are apparently intent on making new viera hair to fill these slots. Maybe, they mean the same hair, but heavily retrofitted to the viera head, so it becomes unique to viera, rather than a complete new hairstyle?

I suspect we'll find out with 5.1. I would think that nothing new wouldn't be good and lots would be unhappy. Lets hope they have quite a few new things for us. I love the race but a bit more variety in looks would be a good thing for sure.

I am expecting it to look like this honestly (and I don't mind it) if SE themselves implement it. Based on where the ears are it was obvious the braid was going to get cut into it.

Yeah, I want to go back to my viera, but they need WAY more hair options than before (in particular the ones you pay for or earn). If I can't have headgear, I at least want some hair. Even if it's hair I don't like, at least it will differentiate my viera from other players who use those hairs. More variety for sure is a good thing.

None. Viera didn't get the most recent hair either. As far as I know they didn't talk about it in the live letter, I don't speak Japanese.

SE holds their character models to a higher standard they would never allow such an obvious mistake in game...

both races need new hair! its pretty upsetting, getting new hair styles that were just released after the new races have been out and I still can't use the newest hairstyles.

It's been 6 mos since expansion has been out. I wouldn't be surprised if another 6 mos the new races will have to wait.

That looks stupid AF but it makes logical sense, it's not clipping, it's not a massive redesign and it's like one of the first styles we got when shared hair was implemented iirc. After that time the devs standards have gone way up and I'm 100% sure you wont find a newer shared hair style that looks that silly on that race.

I mean, I could break down how wonky the form-n-function hair would look if they tried to redesign the it for viera without changing the core concept but I feel I wouldn't be saying anything new.

I think their point was exactly that that style looks "stupid AF" on Miqo. And imo, some of the styles we got after that weren't really a step up. In texture quality, maybe, but some of them are still uuuuugly. Or just odd looking on some races/genders (imo).

Idec if some of the hairs would look silly on Viera. I'd just like to have more than like, three options total that don't look terrible on my character.

There's a difference between looking stupid af but working and that form-n-function mod. That poster would have a point of the hair balls clipped through the ears ... but they don't. On a conceptional level it hair style works even though it looks goofy on this 1 race.
I mean, tell me how the form-n-function hair would work without breaking the logic of the base design.

From an aesthetic and design stand point that's the story for a good number of shared hairs seeing as none of them where designed with the thought of "how do we make this work with Viera ears sucking up 50% of the top of a character's skull". Sure, there's some that could clearly work ... form-n-function aint one. I don't even see a way to make it look stupid af yet logical. I could def see a Form-n-function inspired style though ... but it would be a complete redesign and at that point it's would just be a racial hair.

And Form-n-function gets a lot of attention because for many it marks the moment when Hairs started really getting HQ for the most part.

They could adapt the ones that don't need a heavy re-design and give unique ones for the number that don't. Of course someone's always going to be unhappy their favourite hairstyle might not work, but not as unhappy as the current situation of only really have 7 styles to choose from I'd imagine.

Form & Function would absolutely be a problem because they'd have to move the braid which I imagine would cause stretching, but there's still plenty of styles that don't have that problem. I'm just disappointed we STILL haven't heard anything about this, I understand it's not their top priority but it doesn't seem to feature for them at all.

They are now holding viera development, lol.

I don't think that's fair, Hrothgar didn't ask to be limited in this way either. And I haven't seen any of them suggest Viera shouldn't get anything unless they do too.

Come to think of it I've seen very few Hrothgar complaints at all?

I read your post, I just don't agree that they couldn't make these styles work. At least to an acceptable enough level, even if some would look kind of silly. I don't even mean form and function specifically, I mean all of them. For that they could angle the braid forward and have it run in front of the ears. Could it look really silly? Maybe, but no more silly than those awful buns shoved on the sides of the Miqo's face.

And if they have to just make an adjusted racial version for some styles, then so be it. It would better than leaving the race with a tiny fraction of the options everyone else has. Add a few styles at a time, whatever, but this whole release two limited races and leave them alone with no comment for half a year thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I get why Hrothgar don't have more hair (i.e. faces) at the moment because those will take a lot more work to render. But Viera are hardly different than Miqo'te, so they should be more manageable. No idea why they didn't get the newest hairstyle, tbh. (Maybe to be fair to Hrothgar...???)

That being said, that's kind of the amount pretty much everyone started out in 2.0. Just be patient and you'll eventually get more hair and will probably be able to use the modern aesthetics hair at some point. It took 6 years for them to build up the collection of hairstyles we have now, so it definitely won't happen soon, but it will happen eventually.

It's the reason why I fantasia'd from Viera. SE needs to realize there's a playbase dedicated mainly to customization, glamour, etc.

Kinda wish they would've picked either Viera or Hrothgar and made one complete race rather than two unfinished races. As is, I don't expect any noticeable updates to either until 6.0.

It's beginning to get concerning considering it's been so long already and unless I'm wrong it's not even been talked about lately or asked.
