I've seen them. And they started with a large influx of likes in just 4 days and significantly plateaued after that it could barely reach 1700. And now it ended up being the same handful of people over and over again sharing art.
I'll quote my post again so you can see it.
Im not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. Im just going to say that the forums are a very small portion of the actual playerbase and sometimes certain sides can be overwhelmingly vocal about the things that they want. Its probably not always true that the thing being shouted about is actually "wanted by the majority." It very well could be in this case. Im just saying. It may not always be as it seems.
I agree with your post. Everything is about profit to them. They are a business, and its working as is. If we COULD make them pay forward some of that profit, I would be all for it. I just dont know how beyond leaving and even then it may not help. They already have the money. They just wouldn't get more.
Edit: As far as it being profitable, I guess maybe there just isnt enough interest in the other genders. Though I still stand by my stance. I want XIV to have a bigger budget.
this and that are entirely different situations. adding them will harm the game long term. the devs flat out said what they would have to give up and what would happen if they did include them. With those races you mentioned it was different since they could handle them without any major drawback both short term and long term. People keep getting so caught up in "ooo shiny I want it" and don't pay attention to the negative effects it will have not only on the game, but the game's development and the development staff as well. Of course, resort to stupidity like labeling all those players as somebody who asked for something so mundane as that instead of considering that there are logical reasons behind it. x.x
Actually, I recall around heavensward where bringing in Viera was a hot topic that Yoshi said something along the lines of "if we do Viera then we will probably have a male only race as a counterpart" so if anything they kind of alluded to there not being any male Viera.
This is a solution that only works for PC players even if it was a plausible solution. It took years for Skyrim and Fallout, as examples, to get access to mods on consoles, and even then Sony restricted them to only using assets already in the base game.
Better if they just got the manpower they need to actually finish these races in house.
But there never was any male Viera. They are only mentioned but never seen before.
Do you think that people will be mad because male viera or female hrotgar are added? The only reason some ppl dosent want them is because of some ppl (like on from a thread that has already died) made us look bad and they didnt want us to get what we wanted. at least 99% of the playerbase wouldnt get anywhere close to mad because others have more options than before
This could’ve been thrown into either of the two megathreads.
reread what I said because nothing what you said connects to what I said. People's feelings are irrelevant. I'm talking about facts. It is a fact that introducing the two genders would harm the game long term due to how much resources they would eat up not just for their creation, but also for their continued existence. Also because somebody will argue, yes there are different teams, but they all pull from the same pool of resources. I'm talking things not being included that would have been if they could afford the resources, i'm talking delayed patch cycles, I'm talking increased work load for a dev team already pushed to their limits as it is. You are asking EVERYONE to make a sacrifice so a vocal minority can get a new shiny that they were never promised to begin with. People being mad is NOT the basis of my argument so stop trying to make it so.
This doesn't even address future story telling concerns considering history has shown that when you make males playable to an amazonian themed race their story gets muddied and even butchered. (look at Night Elves in WoW and how they went from a proud Amazonian race of warrior women to subservient housewives the moment males became accessible to players)
Actually, everyone has a say in the matter and trying to dictate otherwise will paint you in an extremely negative light. While I support more options for all players, I don't support those who think their opinion matters more or that others don't matter because of their opinion. Just because you don't like their opinion doesn't mean they aren't entitled to one.
As far as "most" goes, I'm not sure that is correct but I also know there are some that don't want the missing genders added. I can see the reasoning on both sides as lore has been set in place. Now before you all go "Lore is a bullshit reason!" To some it isn't. There are many out there who love the lore and wish for it to be followed. Now, SE can alter the lore or perhaps create a reason within said lore for the missing genders to emerge and I think that would please most people if they included them alongside this new lore explaining why they are suddenly being seen.
TLDR: respect everyone even if your opinion differs. People have different views on many things and it doesn't mean their opinion, or your opinion, is more valuable. Also, I hope we get more customization! :)
Nah people who want to stifle options for no reason's opinion is invalid. They have no importance it's just someone being a dick plain and simple.
Saying you don't care is a valid opinion. Saying you deliberately don't want them in the game on this forum as a argument point for them not existing is not valid.
It's very doubtful FFXIV dev team uses the sort of tools some random modders would understand enough to use. Not too mention they would not be made available to the public for use. Most things made outside of the game engine like characters require expensive software like Maya for rigging and animating.
While it's an interesting idea, can't work for MMOs. People really don't seem to realize what development actually is. the shear amount of work it would take to create 2 more character models to completion with a level of polish of the rest. Demanding devs to do things over the internet is getting out of hand. Let them make the game, they are professionals.
It really is a shame that it seems common people with no experience actually developing a project albeit, software, media, any type of digital content feel they can tell professionals how to do it and that they are doing it wrong.
Really blows my mind.
They won't even let the community develop mods (despite years ago promising us a dev kit), and you think they will allow this?
lol. We can't even get a public test server so we can help them find their utterly broken stuff before it drops. Wait until this class overhaul coming in ShB, and enjoy the year's worth of 'balancing' patches as we play things in ways they didn't anticipate.
No, this dev team is going to keep doing what they are doing.
