I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think the Monk dashed, it looks more like the editor simply sped up the frames to get us immediately into the action instead of waste time watching the characters run there normally. I mean, no ability on the action bar went into cooldown when it happened, and his friends were already waiting there when he arrived.
Or you could just not complain and let other people do content however they want.
Balance is a developer problem, they should be making sure that fights can't be trivialized by stacking a certain class. If it can then that is a viable strategy (hopefully not the only one). Putting in an arbitrary penalty if you aren't running the rainbow coalition of jobs is a pretty lazy fix. As would be giving every class a single necessary group buff, no one said it was easy making a good MMO.
Make every class useful, what players do is their business if you give them the proper tools to work with they will come up with various strategies to accomplish results beyond even the developer's expectations. In this aspect FFXIV has so far not done so great yet. But that is why we are getting jobs and other combat changes.
Also alliance content please.
No I don't think that is the case.
1)Notice how everyone else is still moving at the same pace. He is the ONLY one that speeds up.
2)Notice he looks to be moving out as far as he can as to INTENTIONALLY show off the ability. Each time he does it.
Taking into account to that ability it makes since why they didn't take the view of the paladin if they wanted a close up view or a mage to show off more of the environment.
Another thing I noticed watching the video;the lack of BRD songs, I realy hope its just not another spell cast, but an actual intrument/song playing.
Damn nature, you scarey ;_;
Also the fade out effect as Simian thrust was firing was pretty stylish.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuh, just saw it. Did anyone notice that that mnk had decoy as the first icon on his action bar at 00:45? At least it looks like decoy?
EDIT; Decoy isn't exclusive is it?
...nevermind~
Although certain attacks such as haymaker seem to have little coloured icons in their top-right corners (slot 9 at 2:07 as an example)
Monk "Dash" is probably Pounce, considering it does the exact same thing in WoW.
My only concern is that it's still timed so I'm hoping it doesn't turn into another run-through dungeon like Darkhold.
Other than that, looks fantastic.
While I let you guys nitpic over the video again (see this thread), I'll comment on a few things I really found interesting.
The fact that near every room was round and connected via mini sandstorms reminds me a lot of 2 places. The Antlion's Den in FFIV (mentioned earlier), and Cleyra from FFIX. Further reminding me of Cleyra is the mention of rivers of sand.

Looks like Copperbell Mines. Hope there's different looking areas inside, otherwise it's just /meh as far as 'visual excitement' is concerned. The boss battles seem fun.
So,
a) 1 unique mob
b) all other mobs are copy pasted
c) whole dungeon is copy pasted
some enormous efforts over here
Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but it was my impression that most people didn't like the timed aspect of the previous dungeons. I sure hope they reduced the amount of regular monsters they placed throughout the dungeon because I don't plan on participating in the trainfest that was Darkhold again.
We're all assuming the monk dashed in and that it wasn't the mob drawing him in which could be a possibility. Looked more like camera position or something changing as he moved in normally to me though.
So just before the "dash" he would position himself a certain distance EACH time knowing he would get "pulled" to the mob?
While that may be possible it seems very far stretched to be taken seriously.
Also notice the purple circle in the middle of the mob. He selects the mob just before he dashes off to it. That's some pretty good timing to do that each time if he is in fact getting pulled. Yoshi-P should also smack the DEV that played a MNK and did it with such precision to give the illusion of such a cool ability.
