We were all off on Good Friday at my work instead lol
What? The all worlds is DURING the full day maintenance.

So much for community spirit. Like I clearly pointed out, I was away. I had a real-life issue (which I won’t be disclosing to a bunch needlessly rude people) which trumped playing FFXIV. My beef is that the event was clearly advertised as finishing at a specific time which then clashed with maintenance. Better planning would have easily avoided this.
The NA maintenance was announced back in February and again a week before it was actually due to happen, that's plenty of planning in advance. Not waiting to do the event on the last couple of days could have been avoided

Well, time to roll a character in Europe or Asia.
And again, I took a hiatus from the game due to a real-life issue. I hadn’t played the game for weeks. Upon my return TODAY, I looked in the lodestone and saw the advertisement for the Hatching-Tide event. There was a clear expiry date and TIME. So the fact that the devs started the maintenance when there was only a few hours left for the event is NOT my fault.
I logged in and was rushing the event, and was just approaching the NPC for the last part of the Spriggan outfit when the server went down.

The launcher also had these.
There was a rep post regarding exactly that, Skylocke.

The fourms Dev Tracker keeps a log of all developer and community rep posts, to help us keep track of new information from them.
It just seems a bit odd that they’d move maintenance to clash with an already advertised and active event.
I’ve been playing FFXIV since PS4 release and I’ve only ever missed one other event because I was on pre-booked holiday at the time. So being called lazy is unjust.
Mon->Tuesday maintenances are the usual and they want to make sure they have enough time to really stress and test the world visit system before Shadowbringers. But putting it in only a week after EU's would have been odd. Later and they may not have much leeway with the stress testing (and inevitable fixing).
I'm sorry that a game made plans about a year before now and that they didn't realize that a holiday that isn't prominent in Shinto faith was right around the same time. I'm also sorry to tell you that they reserve the right to take the game down for any reason with no compensation for its player base. I'm even more sorry that you didn't think to double check information on something we knew was going to happen since this past fall.
Everyone with an account can play on any server. Sure they COULD go and find only accounts that have a character on NA servers, but whos to say someone didn't want to make a new character on an NA server today.
Everybody with an active account gets an extra day! :D
Sometimes life is like that but they still gave us plenty of warning in advance. RL takes precedence over any game, so perhaps you were partly the victim of circumstances largely out of your control. The event didn't take very long to do though (seriously, one NPC solves most of the puzzles for you) so there may have been some procrastination at play here as well.
Shame that the servers had to go down, but hey at least they gave us ample time to prepare for it, on the brighter side of things for me at least this gave me the perfect chance to properly discover the forums.
What am I missing here? It states that it begins on the 22nd at 6:00 PM PDT. It's only 4:15 PM. Grrr.
You missed these.

I see. I guess that's not the one they show when I have logged in for the past couple of days. So it's going to be 6 am tomorrow then?
Just wanna say, in all fairness, surely much of the confusion is from the All Worlds Maintenance being the one you have to click through to play. NA Expansion is much easier to ignore/overlook by comparison. And, considering all the maintenance notices that got pushed out all at once for 4.57, overlooking NA isn't so unreasonable.
That said, players on NA data centers proooobbbably should've taken special note of that one post buried in there that sounds like it would be important and probably affect them.
