I love zoning and then bam goblin just smack the crap out of me.
This. If you're there first and you want to keep it that much, fight for it. Otherwise, find another spotor try again later.
I was farming bomb ash solo on my PGL yesterday. I was the only one there until a ARCx2 THM trio popped up about 20 minutes later. I did a /no to them, they all did /laugh. Most would think "Oh, three people are trying to farm over me. I'd better just give up for now..."
I tossed on my Hermes Shoes and out-claimed them until they eventually left after about 4 respawn waves.
Not cheating when Yoshi put it in the game as a mechanic.
Is using the lift cheating?
Is using the a chocobo cheating?
Is walking cheating?
All things put in the game, that Yoshi wanted.
Remember the "lv 10 in lv 50 pt" got patched, PLing didnt, because Yoshi implemented it, and stated he wanted pling!
So jelly =D, as for OP:
No its not against TOS, dont be silly. unclaimed is unclaimed (tho LOL at their crappy PLing technique they deserve to lose mobs.....), it wouldnt be nice if you just stormed in tho and started killing, but against not against TOS. If you were purposely grieving you could get a GM warning (been there lols), and then finally you could just move camp, there is like 5 mite camps around Nophica...
That's not surprising.
If you were there first, just keep claiming several at a time til they get frustrated and leave. Always worked for me. If they were there first just find another place.
Also, webs specifically are not that great of a drop rate. It's better to do gathering and make money and buy them than it is to spend time farming them off diremites. Just my opinion.
Well .. it's apart of the MMO community. It'll happen, so suck it up and move to another camp, or wait it out. Or, you'll get this:

OP,
Why not make the situation work for both parties and PL them in exchange for the webs? That's really the best solution. Besides, it isn't like there isn't an abundance of mites between, like, FIVE camps.
Seriously, people need to "think outside the box" and work together...
This would require a lot of trust, given they were keen to the proposal or not. Most parties have no real need for a PL anyhow, so I can't see why they would entertain the notion unless they were of like mind. Plus, you have to consult 7 other people in the group and get their approval. I do agree, however.
In XIV's ToS not outright no, but in XI's it is in a sense. White/Yellow name mobs are free gain and yes it's more of a courtesy thing to not touch it but if you can prove that they're doing it to purposefully grief you or interrupt your gameplay you can indeed report it and get them jailed/banned depending on what else is on their record (XI's ToS an possibly XIV's as well.)
Usually the powerleveling/farming parties are using AOE magic to kill them all. Just grab one as soon as it spawns and drag it over to them, they will kill it for you, you get XP. Win/Win
Then, if they are farming sheep, they will stop using AOE and start dragging the train around after you while you fight to sleep you while you are fighting and then you eventually die. Yes this happened to me once. Those RMT are bitter folk.
Can anyone answer me as to why a player with all 50's would need to farm Karakul Fleece?
If you want the luminary tool you need to "level" it again
If you were there first and the exp party didn't send you a tell asking you to not take one mob from their train, I think you're fine.
I don't think what you were doing was against ToS as others have also mentioned.
I wish you were on Wutai... I have more webs from crafting leves then I know what to do with @_@ & I don't get much exp (maybe 38 exp) from turning them to thread anymore.
There seems to be this common belief that people "own" monsters in an MMORPG. If it is not claimed. It is fair game.
It not violate the Tos. If u took it from a train they are partially claimed by them since links and aggro don't show claimed. If they were first then i would call it rude from your part
Monsters are there for everyone. No one owns them, so claim what you need and there should be no problems.
No one can say "My exp is more important than your items," or "My items are more important than your exp."
As long as everyone is polite and not purposely trying to aggravate each other, it's not against the rules.
If I see someone heading towards a monster to grab it, I leave it be and grab another.
nope, just make you an a$$ but legal.
Riding a chocobo just gathers then faster. Its not PL-ing. If they are in range for that certain mite camp, I would have went to a different mite camp. 2 minute walk at most. Why fight over mobs when you don't have do.
NOW sheep camps.. only 3.. really? wth SE. 5 fleece to make 3 cloth? dpn't get me started on the woolen yarn...
>_> lol.
I don't see what the problem is here.
If you were there first and farming webs and they showed up to exp...so what?
If they were there first exping and you showed up to farm....so what?
Unclaimed mobs are fair game to anyone. They should have made sure to obtain claim on all their mobs if they wanted the exp/items for all of them.
Likewise, you could have claimed them all for yourself for the drops.
if you were there first like others stated then i don't blame you at all. personally this happens a lot, people come and try to take over and man handle other peoples camps. i would of not only took 1 but switched to my 50thm and killed everything in site. and if not leave ..i would of probably put them on my sh!t list and forever see them exp'ing take there camps. sounds stupid but take ffxi if you took over a camp like the birds ...you just waisted my 30-3hours making the party cause you too lazy to go somewhere else and you just forced half of my party to want to just log out cause they rather leave then fight for camp so within 30-60mins of very bad exp the party disbands><
only place i'm truely seeing this happen in ffxiv is at the sheep camps. but all the asses that stay are rmt, they don't care if you were there first and they will fight you for hours and hours just to wear you down. i wouldn't leave out of prinsiple but it just ended up being a 5hr fight for camp. then next day he comes back again and does it again but i just didn't want to deal with it and left>< ...funny part is there are 3 rank 50lancer bots on the other sheep camp farming not even pl'ing 24/7 and when he see's you he pops out of afk. ...anoying.
Are you trying to say more people are against PL than for? I have seen a handful of loudmouths on the forums QQ about PLing but its just that a handful, you see just as many if not more ok with it. Also people don't normally come to forums to praise something they come to complain with that in mind the handful of rabid anti PL QQers leaves me to believe that more are ok with it than against it.
why does this thread have 75, now 76 posts.
Kill the mobs and laugh in their faces
then kill them
If you were the one who was (power)levelling and some lv50 came to "steal" some of your mobs, would you have been happy?
Rule of thumb for me is, if the camp was "claimed" when you got there, don't bother them and find yourself another camp. If they "invaded" your camp then feel free to steal mobs from their train.
I was referring to the 2-3 people PLing themselves in turn, whereas a full group came out to do some legitimate footwork. The reason it's only a 'handful' is the fact that there are just that many who can see the negative effects of powerleveling.
To me, it's those kind of people that look at it and say "Wow, I'm getting lots of levels really fast, and hey everyone else is too! This is awesome! How could this ever be bad?!" that are superficial in their perspective on this subject, and therefore defend it to the end.
I've stated some very pertinent points as to why Powerleveling is not a good idea, and if you care that I repeat them, I will.
Allow me to employ an adage: "Too much of a good thing is a bad thing." Sound familiar?
