I need Ultimate Fight as a PvP mode...
Does this mean he's breaking up with us? :(
I really enjoyed FF15, the things i wish it had was true open world and a bigger world in general. From all the talk they had they made it seem like it would be a truly open world final fantasy game. And they made it sound so huge. And yes the map is large, but i wanted it larger. Probably a selfish request. I mean sure you can get out of your car and explore, but there really isn't much to discover. There is nothing exciting to discover while running around. Outside of the main road, cities, dungeons, and hunt locations, there isn't much to explore.
I do not think that is true, I think allot quit.. I played during beta and joined with Zam FC which was so large we had to use LS so my friends list was massive. Now My friends list has maybe 3 active people on it. A few jumped servers but most have quit.
I think FFXIV has allot of turn over. I thing the games survives allot on new players.Right now it is WOW refuges. I cant believe the amount of new player that I see on my server all the time. Eventually you run out of new players.
For me the reason I am here is the whole MMO industry is bad right now and there is not allot out there for us MMO players. FFXI is not nearly the same game it used to be and is more like FFXIV everyday. I have tried a few others like ESO which was bad.
Sometimes you do not have to be great to do well in a market of mediocrity.
Agreed he defiantly has pull more pull now. I would doubt SE wants to loose him.
He can also change his mind and want a change or to build some thing new.
He doesn't have to give up full control of FFXIV to also work on something else.
I mean the development team has to have much better control on the game now too and the direction.
Not only that him having his name behind a new game even if he does very little might help a game sell some.
I have to say though I was reading on several threads that he has started another project and someone is working under him on FFXIV.
I was just skimming through them though and read this.
There are hiring notices up for the Third Division and this project specifically. If it's an April Fool's joke, they're risking lawsuits for it.
Side note, but as recently as Paris you had Yoshida talking about what he would like to do if he just happened to work on FFXVI.

Calling it. VR / Desktop cross support FF MMO. 5 years out would be enough time for the good VR headsets to hit.
Great.
I can't wait.
Looking at FFXIV, this new game can only be a new breakthrough in the art of videogame.

That'll be very interesting, with SE trying a sort of Bethesda FF with FFXV (mods, open world-ish, etc), and Yoshida not afraid to check out the competition and see what's going on.
With FFXI I don't think they had to worry much about pulling lots of information very quickly so I think some of the design styles that didn't need to anticipate as much fast paced info, say like Blizzard games, were baked into FFXIV's structure. Blizzard, I was referencing, because they've got their account bound, nearly every item glamour log, many different player owned concepts, fast paced loading, and part of that team was the one that went into making Wild Star's housing system (which had thousands of slots for every player for every character, no limit)-- so in that FFXIV experience I hope the team has picked up the tools and expectations that their next MMO doesn't have that concern as often.
I agree that another FF mmo is likely far off but if it doesn't happen in this game I hope their next one brings back airships, I really miss those guys :(. High Fantasy FFIX Mist Continent with high importance to transportation... Yum.
If they keep trying some western concepts (general stereotypical statement) like Bethesda games hopefully they can keep their own style still (take the good stuff, but stay unique), but I liked they were attempting mod support for FFXV (I love mods :3).
I found this

Dunno if april joke or not.
For the record FFXI was actually the most profitable game in their franchise, from a pure money expended to money generated ratio. Something like 12 million to develop the base game which turned over to ten times that profit in the first year and has been a cash cow ever since.
I remember that Yoshi P announced he had been promoted to be one of the Big Wigs at SE some time ago, so I'm not surprised he's being shuffled around and put in charge of other games as well. I don't see SE killing off the FF franchise entirely though. The games are at their core always experimental, and they can slap FF on any kind of game they want and it'll still be a legit game.
They got mobile app to do. There's still FF to do.
Exactly. They constantly complain and offer useless feedback, yet at the end of the day they're still here. I mean, I get it if you're tired or burnt out or whatever, but to constantly waste your time and energy doing something you're not enjoying? A combination of stupid and crazy.
And I wouldn't mind seeing Yoshi's take on a main Final Fantasy title. I would love to see a return to roots a la IX. More classic high fantasy concepts and less sci-fi.
Why is the recruitment page located in the US while most if not every other website is located in Japan!?...
Might be just a joke but if it's not then I'm ready to jump ships to the next Final Fantasy Online, likely to be XVI!...
Again, previous post, but here goes.

Said I didn't know if true or not. But not stated as a joke yet.
I sincerely doubt that this is a joke. I don't think this means he's leaving FF XIV but they apparently like him enough to want him on another project, too. Good for him. He's probably going to be pretty busy though. Wouldn't surprise me if he finally promoted someone to help share the load with FF XIV. He's been wanting to do that for awhile anyway.
That says "additionally" and then segue into "new title for the next generation", so they were probably not refering to FF7 remake. Although I did laugh thinking they put Yoshi-P on FF7-R to make sure it actually comes out on time (because otherwise it'll become famous delay city lol).
But yeah I don't think the article says it's FF7-R that Yoshi-P is working on/with.
^_^ glad I could help~
I read it three times trying to understand what the hell made you come to that conclusion. :p
Also, it's not a joke. Here is the quote directly from SE's own website: https://www.jp.square-enix.com/recru...contents/3dbd/
For the most part we are getting the usual by the looks of it. I wouldn't call it less than other expansions. Most of it could be considered "new content", just not the concepts. It'll probably end up about the same when it's all said and done. We didn't even get new races in Stormblood, so I'd say Shadowbringers has 1 up on Stormblood already. They also said that more things would be announced in the coming months after Fanfest.
This is the most important thing. They still have tons of stuff they haven't actually announced regarding the expansion. Details regarding the battle system overhaul, etc. So far all we've got is the Viera homeland and two hub cities and two new zones on the First, but that leaves at least at least 1-2 new areas we haven't gotten wind of yet. IIRC Azys Lla was barely a blip prior to the launch of 3.0 so it was a real nice surprise to go there at the end.
Hopefully its complete next gen overhaul of XI with still keeping lots of the important elements of the current game. As of XIV. Its already on its way out the door. We already got bunch of cut content and just loads of bad and uncreative ideas from developers. Wouldn't even want yoshida to work on the next mmo.
While I'm incline to agree, I also think they just simply haven't shown us a lot... Doesn't help that they decided to derail JP Fanfest to promote a fricken' movie...
Really depends what you're comparing though; 4.0 to 5.0? Or including the patches that added things like Heaven-on-High? Just the expansions themselves, they're the same. New zones, new story, new lackluster FFXIII style linear dungeons (I mean that as the greatest insult possible), 2 new Trials... Actually, assuming Rebuilding Ishgard is there at launch as it's labeled as a selling point, 5.0 has slightly more content... Problem is they just haven't shown us anything of it... New races too, even if the community is upset over them, 4.0 had nothing in that regard though... I see that as non-content though, same with New Game+, and probably Trusts if they haven't substantially improved NPC AI from Squadrons...
Then there's the stuff they have mentioned, that presumably comes in later patches. That, again, comes out to the same as 4.x, or even slightly more, and for the most part has only been mentioned, not shown. Though I see no reason to get my hopes up for new Raids, Eureka, Deep Dungeon, GC Ranks, Player Farms, Treasure Maps, more Limited Job content (L. O. L.), etc., when most of that's probably going to be exactly the same, with one slight adjustment... Compare Heaven-on-High to Palace of the Dead; The major addition was naught more than a big room...
As I said, I think this development team needs some new blood with some new ideas... At this point I view a lot of the content as stale, and when you see slides like "Challenging new dungeons!" at Fanfest, one can't help but role their eyes at it... Bring someone new in to work on dungeons, then maybe we can get challenging new ones, until then we have stale old ones, only new thing about them currently is the new coat of paint on the same old corridor...
Will we get a Battle Royal PvP now?
I hope not.
Not because I have anything against the idea, could actually be fun if say the "find loot" aspect is "find Logos actions" or something similar, just... Look at how hard SE has tried to kill Rival Wings... It took substantial community effort just to get the queues active, then they go add an entirely new map for one month, then kill it again by splitting NA/EU up... It barely pops as is, the data center split will once again prevent it ever happening... It's really just wasted development time, I guess some view PvP in general as that, but they should just stick to working on Feast or something... PvP is such a niche in this game that it really isn't wise to split the playerbase over multiple modes... I thought they'd learned that with the FL Roulette, but then they went and made RW its own mode as well...
Battle Royal works primarily on a large number of people being there at the start, so it would have to be comparable to 72 player Frontlines. PvP in this game cannot support that post-split, it would be foolish to try. Not to mention, Battle Royal needs very active queues IMO, you can't die in the first minute and then have to wait for the last match to conclude before you get in again, and that is almost certainly how such a thing would work in XIV. That would drive people away from the mode very fast, you need enough people playing for there to be multiple matches going on, and unless you make it much smaller scale, I struggle to imagine XIV even having the population for a single instance...
What I really hope they work on is a Skirmish mode. Queue up for Feast, Frontlines, or Rival Wings. Instantly you're put in a Skirmish "match" that just acts like a lobby. A free for all that doesn't matter where you can just mess around, talk to other people, get a good idea of how many people are even queuing with you, all while you wait for whatever you queued for to pop... Blows my mind that PvP still doesn't have any indication of how many people are in the queue... PvE has had that forever, if Rival Wings had that it'd be far more active IMO, seeing 43/48 might have people stay in queue, seeing absolutely no number and being left to assume the worst? That drives people away. Who knows though, World-Visit has the potential to boost Duel activity, so perhaps we can use that to mess around while waiting in queue, rather than a Skirmish mode...
It's funny how you should say this as I've just come back to the game after being gone for 3yrs...
When I go to check my friends list since I've been back over the last month I've only seen 2 players out of maybe 80 who have been online.
Players are quitting the game cuz it got stale if not explain to us where all those players went to that we playing yrs ago? that's right they got bored-.-
I'm currently playing alot atm because there is alot of content to get through but as soon as I catch up and the new expansion comes out will it be the same old formula? Most likely based on past expansions and if it is then it better damn well be quality at it's best, otherwise players will unsub again.
