Hothgar was an exciting reveal!

I'm really looking forward to giving Hrothgar a try. It's nice for us that prefer the bigger races to *finally* get some new options. Not sure if they'll be better than man roes though- but definitely takes the number two slot for best race though.

No lie, gonna use the Fantasia I had gotten from my veteran reward years ago to race change this guy to Hrothgar. Had a feeling it would be bara cat people. My only sway as to maybe not doing so, is if they had tails or not. since they do, I'm all on board.

This going to be amazing, finally a great change for the races in this game, nothing to envy other mmos about, for me this games is just perfect.

I swore I would switch from Roe when an actual beast race was announced. I hoped the 'Ra would be the ones, but they were just elves with patches of scales and horns. I had hoped for Lupin, only for my hopes to be dashed. And now we finally have an actual beast race and I screamed in giddiness during the announcement. I'm sorry my Roe, but your time is over. The time of the Gar is now.

Except for the part where we didn't get a new beastial race. We got half of one.

If I want to play a beastial female character I still have no option... So congrats if you want to play a beefy male cat bc sure you got something of this.

I'm really hoping they add the male version of Viera and female version of Hrothgar down the line, because that's a complaint I can agree with. It's not fun for anybody to be unable to play a race because of genderlocking. I just wish more people were a bit more civil with the complaints like yourself and less pure salt reactionary complaints.

I'm glad about the Hrothgar as well. They look like Ronso with the horns! I feel like they add more to the world overall than another "kids with ears" race.

Even I also are a big fan of the big cat,

BUT I just feel they should be making those model more careful,
their body type is too close to the Roegadyn! And the face is crudely made!

Hope they can make some improvement before the benchmark. :/

its not a roe, its closer to kimarhi in that picture than a roe. It is however bigger than other males, which actually makes it a more unique charachter option.

i agree the models/textures appear less refined, but its probably just the lack of clothes/armor, along with the engine finally starting to show its age.

I'm curious how the height will compare with Roes though- bigger (better), smaller, or same size. Probably same size since the model is roughly the same.

I just hope they have straight backs/spines, from what I see they hunch over abit (I know it's petty)

Having a hard time deciding whether to go Hrothgar (cause LION BEAST BOI) or my favorite lady of the series (Viera) cause bunny waifu. But excited for both honestly

People actually like this race!? I thought I was the only one! Day 1 switch for me, finally a beast race, something this game badly needed :D

Tauren in Wow, Charr in GW2, I will always, always, go for the big Beast races. Day one fantasia for me.

I think they look great! I won't be changing to one, but I'll be enjoying seeing them around :)

I hope they are about as tall as Miqote but very beefy.

yea sure of course new beast race with humen feet not even close to ronso feets, and you are happy to see them XD you already run like them around there is a lion headpiece glamour it and voila you have the new race O.o but i was worried about the fan fest in france it was realy weird and suspicous for not showing the male part of viera and giving both race now in japan fan fast yoshi know ppl would be dissapointed and hide it for japan fast bad decision in 2019 for gender lock BRAVO SE

I'm debating if i should fantasia to Hrothgar and give the race a try but I need to see what face options they have. As for their body they mostly did use Roegadyn as the base but Hrothgars look smaller. Still brutish but smaller and with a more tapered waist. I do hope they aren't as tall as other tall races but close Highlanders as I don't really care for playing tall races. I often put my characters to min height.

Also debating if I should play as Viera as it was the race i was most looking forward to play but they are only female and all my glam and store purchases are for male.

i was pretty disappointed. they're genderlocked and are effectively just roegadyn with a new head slapped on and a miqote tail. the racial diversity in xiv is as bad as the alliance in warcraft where they have almost 5-6 kinds of humans. regular humans, fat british humans, short humans, short black humans, tiny humans, lycanthropic humans.

now compare to that to the races of the horde: green orcs, brown orcs, zombie humans, goblins, elves (who strongly resemble humans), blue crack addict elves, hunchbacked trolls, tall african trolls, minotaurs, and moose minotaurs.

aura would've been a good opportunity to have dragon people, but, no. just humans that vaguely resemble dragons.

My main female Charr necro in GW2 was a snow leopard. (I also had a black panther, a lion (yes female there were some nice mane like options), a lioness, and a cheetah.) For a snow leopard Hrothgar I'd probably go with BLM - since ice and all :p

Pretty happy we're getting a beastial race reminds me a lot of Charr gonna be nice seeing them run around Eorzea!

Okay... now use that same logic but with Veira, slap the bunny ears on a hyur and voila you have your Male bunny.

Dont get my wrong, I do sympathise with the folks that wanted Male bunny, (I do think the reception is very childish though) but this is a thread about appreciating Hrothgar.. so dont bring that crap in here.

I just wonder if Hrothgar are like... soft to the touch. :o I'm not a furry I promise I'm just kind of curious. I mean their RSE shows so much skin, I can't help but wonder. Do they like to be pet?

I won't be playing one, but I was actually really excited to hear about this race being added. I haven't been keeping up with all the rumors and I had no idea. I'm excited to see what people can come up with :)

Hrothgar scares me, haha - not that they 'scare' me is bad. Just 'oh heck, you're terrifying' kind of scare. I'm happy some folks will enjoy this race. The music that played during their reveal was pretty damn good. I hope that's the overworld music somewhere; or on a mount.

I'm pretty excited for Hrothgar.

I made an alt for some of the jobs that I didn't want to play on my main (leveling from 1 without road to 60 mainly, but also because I didnt think they suited his character, WAR and DRG mainly)

I went with Raen Au Ra, because I wanted a big burly character to contrast my moonkeeper, and don't want to look like Wreck-it-Ralph, but the horns really bug me.

Cant wait to fantasia him into a while lion with a horn. White to contrast my black moonkeeper, the Ronso look for my DRG, and will take up SCH/SMN to make use of that horn!
