I don't want to say it, but that's because that is all that matters. If the group's objective is to clear a fight, prog a fight, or even start learning a fight, and you can't participate on the same level due to being sick or because they're lying...you shouldn't be in that party. And you or whoever should not even want to be in a party while you're sick or underperforming, or w/e.

It's way too defensive to say "you dont know the whole story, man" when instead you or whoever should just take responsibility for your actions and adjust.

Actually all that matters in a game is having fun and if raiding actually required you to be a jerk raiding should have died in a fire long ago. Fortunately it's not actually the case.

I've certainly encountered it as well over the years but clearly raiding didn't require it. Your post just seems really out of left field considering the discussion. I'm confused.

In my experience, usually if you get immediately kicked from the party it's probably because the party leader was too lazy to set the PF how they really wanted it and you filled a spot that they actually wanted another job for.

For example many PFs say "no dupes" in the comments but then dont bother to adjust the role filters to avoid duplicate jobs. Another example is when they wanted a standard comp of 2 melee 1 ranged physical and 1 ranged magical but dont filter each dps slot accordingly.

Basically it's probably nothing you did wrong just the party leader being lazy and then kicking people when they dont get what they wanted.

As for people not joining a party that you set up, again how you set up the PF matters. One of the most common reasons I see PFs stagnate is because someone joined and then left the group and the spot they left now only accepts the job they were on when they left and the party leader fails to correct this. I personally see this as a sign that the party leader is either AFK, or too incompetent to even know how PF works, and opt to avoid anything to do with that party.

I agree with the 'didn't bother to set correct settings' explanation. Also I also tried to block my logs on FF logs and it didn't work. Mostly because I hadn't linked the account up correctly. I haven't bothered since but for those of us who play on console, since we can't use parsers, we kind of get the raw end of the deal. We can only be parsed when someone in the group is parsing so we get a severely mixed bag. The person who used the '2 of 50 parses' is basically correct in that unless you're regularly raiding in a party who parses, your actual logs may not reflect your skill level. Hiding mine was just a sort of middle finger because I don't do Savage content so it likely would never matter unless someone was just trying to troll for some reason. But in the end, it was easier to just let it be. I think you honestly just got a string of lazy PFs who already had their melee requirement or whatever. If you want to do Savage tho, listen to the people who do and don't hide your logs because apparently that's a Thing.

I've only raided with you once so I can't really tell if you have a rep or not, but you seem okay in the party we were in. Lol I have also seen your logs before, they're not great. But I kind of guessed that you haven't been raiding for long and might be still new to this. Just try and keep improving. Raiders care more about seeing improvement even if you're not very good at first.

Also, I mostly join pfs that are already half full. That way, it fills faster rather than "starting from scratch" with a completely new pf. That might be part of the reason why people weren't joining your pf. This happens to me occassionally too if the pf is not a prog and it's not Tuesday.

As for reasons why you were kicked, I'll try and think of some potential reasons.
I guess one reason would be you're a SAM. It unfortunate, but SAM doesn't have any raid utility. The only thing useful that SAM can bring into a raid group is high dps, usually 6k or more. As other have said, you could try and test if this is a reason by switching to another melee.

Another reason could be you've joined the "wrong" clear party. It could be a clear for 1, but the pf lead was looking for people who have already cleared that fight. But they've forgot to put the [Duty Complete] tag, so they were kicking whoever haven't cleared (happened to me once). Or it's a "serious" clear group where the pf lead will only let people stay if they bring the HIGH DEEPS. I think op should stay away from those groups lol. Then, there's also the 3 mistakes = kick groups. I think those three types of clear groups that are more likely to kick people compared to regular clear groups. As for regular clear parties, there isn't much expectation except you go in, do your best, try not to die and clear. For some reason, I feel like there's less people raiding this week, so there's less clear party "options" for one to chose from, which is not always good. You'll run into the same faces over and over again trying to get that clear and eventually, you'll know how everyone performs. Because of this, some people will start being picky about who they play with, especially if they're stuck on that enrage for weeks. Unfortunately, this is how you can end up with a reputation on pf Lol.

I suggest op to try a different melee and see how it goes.
Also, don't forget to look up job guides, ask an experienced player, and use the xivanalysis site if you want some feedback on how you're doing. Good luck!

Fwiw, the only person I've personally played with who was both high-ranking and hid their FFlogs is now banned from fflogs for exploiting.

Anyway, the OP mentions alphascape savage, which one was it? Was it a full-PF, or was it mostly a static (who might've had a member log on, so they kicked the pub)?

If you can't get any groups at all and it's pretty low-level (o9s or o10s) try making a PF and calling it a trap party (or looking for them), some people (meme-seekers) join em with low expectations and even if they do fail a lot, hey there are trap parties that work out sometimes too. At least if people see you as a bad player (or whatever reason you're getting kicked for), you probably won't be immediately kicked from something calling itself a trap party.

Thing is you could have literally all the data the only thing you'd need to omit is a players name if they hadn't opted in. Absolutely everything else relating to that parse could stay.

While removing names may skew the rankings for others that wouldn't really matter. As generally it's just mean players were ranked against other ranked players..

As it is. Rankings are skewed because a lot of the people being ranked aren't actually competing for want of a better word. It's like beating the car next to you to the next set of lights when the driver of the car next to you isn't even aware your racing him.

I have no fflogs here, which is a good thing as a returning player trying to master a new role for a job I just hit 70 on 2 days ago...

But I am coming from WoW so Inhave experience with a log site giving me two ends of this mess.

I oicked their recent expansion to finally try DPS for the first time ever on the survival hunter... a class with extreme “job bias” (imagine if for 5.0 they swapped half the abilities of bard and dragoon and made a new melee/ranged dps hybrid out of it).

New class, new role, new raid group, new server... my logs sucked at first. I got a subtle “you will be moved to the backup list” warning. I chose to leave while other things were pleasant. I found a new static the same day by chance. In the few days between one raid showing me the door and the other starting I figured out my rotation and joined the new guys as their consistently top DPS and we even cleared past the other raid after 2 weeks (comparing my data with info from the other raid’s off tank; both of us having known each other).

Now... if my logs from raid group 1 had been public I would never have gotten my spot in raid 2. Given my choice of class every group I joined over in WoW had to begin with a “the class doesn’t suck as bad as you think, just let me try it” - the bias against it was extreme but is starting to fall off... add to that logs which only showed me as “sometimes above the healers” it was bad...

But with private logs, group 2 just gave me a chance... my rotation problem turned out to be trivial (the equiv of using ninja with the wrong mudra while wearing caster gear, as easy to fix as using the right ones and right setup - in WoW terms the actual fix I made was two talents swapped and proper weaving of Mongoose Bite, a melee stab, and a ranged aoe grenade skill. My gear was actually the right stuff but a bad talent in WoW can be as severe as the wrong gear here)...

Now I have all these stellar logs for the same toon. Earned them... but had the logs that got me booted from the first group been public, I might never have been able to get into that second static...

Now...

What happens when a player who was in learning groups and started bad, is now skilled, and tries to move up?

Do that hey have this albatross of fflogs from when they were in those learning groups still following then forward?

OP I'm not sure what to tell you.. there have been times when people get kicked because the raid leader's friend is on and they want to get them a clear or something like that. Look at it this way. If SE had wanted everyone to know their data they would have put a tool in that allows that. Not enough info to tell if this was the cause of the OPs problem.



But that scenario definitely falls into the "don't ask, don't tell" situation. If it was happening regularly and SE stance on harassment. Players could be looking at some game wide unwanted repercussions.

With regularity being the caveat, even I have participated in kicking gray SAMs out of my PFs. Multiple times. BLM too. Like, if you got 8 kills of o9s but aren't even breaking 5k as a SAM or BLM - You just got carried. Now I don't always kick people, it depends what friends I'm running with because some are more hardcore than others. It depends if we're trying to farm or just trying to clear (like weekly clears on alt characters).

Due consideration, IMO someone that's pugging every week is a lot worse off because I know the kinda bs things that can go wrong in a pug environment, so it may not always be their fault. But, I also know that good players can still perform at a high level even in a bad group. Just have to judge on a case by case basis.

As for hiding logs.. IDK I'd probably give them the benefit of the doubt for a couple of pulls at least, but in general I think you'd only hide them if you had something to hide, so it can be a red flag for people.

I think it can. But, if you display a fair amount of confidence in yourself, and willingness to take advice and improve, and then actually follow through with it, it will generally work out fine. My static SMN started out rather middle of the road, but I gave her a chance because I wanted a SMN for our caster spot, and now 2 raid cycles later she's consistently the highest DPS in the group. It's not always going to work out, of course, but if you're determined to make it happen then you got a good shot of getting there.

There is already a tool, called BATTLELOG. Its just that it would be way to much work to read it out properly, thats what the parser does and fflogs is just keeping record of what happened in the fight.

But what i find way more interesting is that most people share literally everything on socialmedia but they almost start a riot when people see how they do in a videogame. :rolleyes:

@Andevom if you read correctly what i wrote you would've seen that i was strictly refering to the chat everyone can see. If i write something in the All, Shout, Party or Yell chat i know that everyone can see it and i don't really care if people could look up what i wrote in there, just like i don't care if people see my logs or not. Nothing of that is somewhere near MY private data, its stuff from a videogame and nothing more.

Yeah uhm how do logs identify you as a person? Logs only show what you did with your pixels in a game. Your real identity is no where listed there.

If someone wanted to read through the battle logs. That are saved on their system that is fine. But unless I missed an update, isn't that info wiped from you when you log out? Also it sure looks to me like FFlogs quantifies that info into another number. You can take it however you want though. It just seems like this ship has sailed along with a few other things in game that people would like to have changed. But I am sure you could almost write the response to what they would say, if the forums were flooded with people are being booted because of fflogs.



The social media thing. I am sure people allow what they are comfortable with online. I think people are a little to comfortable, but that's just me.

Might be worth taking it to court to see though. GDPR does state though that online identifiers count, and people can use your online identifier to track and source your RL identity. It actually happened to me quite recently.

I can access logs stored on my PC that contain text directly from the Battle Logs and chats.
Under My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn > FFXIV_CHR00xxxxxxxxxxxx (my main’s specific character folder) > logs

They’re a horrible mess to read through, but they’re there.

These would be extreme cases which are highly unlikely. But if that would count as personal data, things like lodestone would be completly illegal and your character name had to be censored for everyone besides you to protect your private data.

The Lodestone is directly connected to the game and thus you consent to it having that data when you accept the terms and conditions for the game

you can however go into your lodestone and choose what data you wish to share. you can hide your achievements your friends, your minion collection and various other things.

I need to read more thoroughly but sounds like misconstrued interpretation.

Either way, the world is not the European Union. We have to see other nations adopting the legislation.

With the "glass bathroom stalls" thing, I was referring less to FFLogs specifically and more on the whole "if you want privacy you must have something to hide" mentality.

Hope that clarifies that.

Now yeah, I agree, if you're down with the flu, your cat's on fire or grandma's in a tree, then yeah you probably SHOULDN'T be looking for a top tier, all-clear savage party at that precise moment. But people do... and judging someone *solely* by what's in a log file somewhere is neither a fair nor accurate representation of them as a player.

You would think that players would have enough sense to segment themselves when it comes to joining a PF for learning/practice/clear/farm - but sadly they don't, so I can see a tool like FFLogs being used to try and discern that, even though it's certainly not without its drawbacks.

Opting into it would be ideal. That way, they still get the data and a player's personal information remains private if they want it to be. For those that choose to be anonymous, you could just have their class role displayed -- Monk, Dragoon, etc. This way, everyone gets what they want.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Dzian Cielo isn't an online identifier. It's actually an application of pseudonymisation, meaning the game and all interactions with you inside the game are made solely through that pseudonym and nothing ingame links that pseudonym to your real life identity. That's even why any non-direct messaging is done through Mogmail instead of going to your email account associated with your SE account. All emails regarding the game are handled exclusively by SE and there's no way ingame to discern that email account bar you personally telling someone the address.

So no, parsing your portion of the shared battle logs isn't a violation of GDPR because there's no way to connect that information to your real life identity. GDPR would only be relevant to your online identity as an XIV player, if someone besides SE staff could link it to your real life identity.

What is on FFLogs is available to anyone. As best as I can tell, all of us who play this game have given the rights of our characters and everything about them over to Square-enix when we signed up, but not to anyone outside of that.

Oh you can also keep your logs to yourself if you want to because you can tell them that you don't want your character name in there. Its not much different from social media where you have to do settings for privacy, where i can see most peoples pictures as a stranger anyway, except that you have to contact them. But thats not the point i was going for, a ton of people share literally everything on social media with their thousands of "friends" and i bet some of them are among the people who complain about their logs on fflogs. What do you think is worse? Showing pictures of yourself to the public or that people can see how you can control your pixels?

Yea, I'd agree the GDPR is not applicable to this situation. It's already a stretch to claim battlelog data as some sort of personal data equivalent to your bank account, social security, driver's license, legal name, address, credit card.. etc etc. These are all tangible things in real life. I can't really see how the damage you dealt to a video game boss would fall into this purview. Furthermore, GDPR seems to place concern on how companies use, store, secure the personal data we as consumers have given them, and solidifies our rights to have that personal information removed or modified.

An aside, regarding FFLOGS in particular. Nobody is submitting or sharing your personal information with them. They use publicly available Lodestone data to try and assign the uploaded battlelog to a matching character. For example, I have 2 characters with the same name on different servers. My logs get mixed up between them because I don't personally upload. So it uses Lodestone data to find a match using the person who uploaded it's server as a tiebreaker. More specifically, my alt is on Lamia, but the people I run with on my alt are on Leviathan so when they upload it uses Leviathan as the tie-breaking server. FFLOGs does not possess the ability to actually match your character up correctly, so obviously they aren't using any sort of personal data.

Your Character for example can be identified as an individual person or player. while people may not know your real name or address or anything like that. your character is still an online indentifier and can be indentified as a person. not a group of people but an individual person. and that makes any data pertaining to your online identifier. personal data.

As per that definition you linked, LEGALLY and FORMALLY, no, it cannot. Your character is not a real person, offers absolutely no legal or formal identifier of your real person, and its name is 100% public knowledge. It is not protected under any sort of privacy act like an individual's real information would be.

But you cannot hide your character name, the "identifier" you are arguing. So this point is irrelevant. And, as far as I'm aware, only friends lists and achievements can be private. Mounts/minions are always public - I've never seen anyone hide them and I do not recall ever seeing an option to do so.

I can understand why you would want to hide your logs. I'm a ps4 player and as such I can't control what's updated. I've often found that my runs where I have an off day and maintain a constant Brink of Death will be uploaded, but my runs where I'm on fire and outdamaging several dps combined are nowhere to be found. What really gets me is I can't even ASK to have runs uploaded because someone in the party might have a hissy fit and report me.

Asking someone to upload will not get you reported and your a ps4 player so you can't get in trouble for it.

Could get someone else reported though. Would be risky for someone to respond to such a request in a group of randoms by agreeing to upload logs as that would be an admission of parsing.
