Do people enjoy Eureka?

Didn't enjoy a single second of it.

Didn't like Anemos, hated Pagos, have not a single hope nor I expect Pyros to be any better.

Didn't have a single drop of hype/expectation at the announcement of Eureka, planed on not doing it at all until the word relic being pronconced and if not for my BRD relic collection I wouldn't have go back in after my first visit in Anemos back in its release.

I only bother doing it because I can't collect haircut anymore thanks to PvP (whom I despise with every fiber of my body) and special IRL event prize. I can't collect emote because of mogstation. I can't collect orchestrion for the same mogstation bullsh*t. Same with minion and mount. So, I suffer Eureka cause at least I can do it by staying AFK and barely play it as intended.

I tried going into Anemos yesterday and it s was constantly dead. Tried Pagos and got 30 ppl 7 different times. And because my seething hated of that place I just logged out. The devs need to fix the relic now bc Eureka has failed

Tried giving Pagos another chance the other day. 50-ish people in the whole instance, got a party but NM was at the furthest corner of the map with legions of one-shot mobs in front of me, someone in shout who'd already died was begging for a rez because their timer was running short...

Well, thanks to their last update, I found the exit right away.

I stopped playing Eureka 2 days in. I.m going to wait until its as nerfed as possible and get the Anemos weapons, thats it.
The grind is so bad it puts BDO to shame

When I first tried Anemos, I disliked it and walked away for a few weeks. Eventually I went back in on a whim and found the train. Loved the zone ever since, most fun I had in open world content for some time. Then came Pagos, I was so hopeful of a new train experience and instead I found a Siberian Gulag. Between the sleeping dragons, crystal farm, level farm and light farm and lack of NMs... it was just too much. I tried and tried but eventually gave up, but to answer the question:

Anemos - Loved it, I met many friends there and had a blast
Pagos - Strongly dislike it and never finished
Pyros - Will be unable to play it due to not finishing Pagos
Final zone - Will be unable to play it due to not finishing Pagos

I enjoy it quite a bit. Leveling my 4th toon there atm and working on my 5th relic.

Overall, I have enjoyed Eureka. Although Pagos was not as fun as Anemos.

Some of the things that I have found fun, or enjoyed, are the storyline, the island scenery, the monster difficulty and the comraderie I have found within Eureka.

I think that the biggest negative of Eureka, has been poor timing on the release cycle for it. To me it seems that the rewards for doing Eureka, have been further behind current gear than previous relic lines, which just makes less appealing to many people.

One thing I was hoping for in pagos was more magicite, making it allowable for double element combinations with your weapon, and having monsters with dual element attunements.

when pogos was releasted I endured the new content and later with the patch it was easyer to do the grind will continue to work on my relics till pyros is released.

No weapons in Pagos, despise the content.

Although I don't hate or like Pagos, I am at least going to get my 1st relic using this method. I really didn't like the ARR & HW relic quest. Eureka at least has kept me going for some reason, even though I do it sparingly, so I don't get burned out. I only go inside at least once a week and do all I can in one go, and then take a break and do other stuff, then go in next week. I keep my sanity this way.

I am one of those that also enjoy Eureka. I started after the logs came out and both were made easier. I like the danger and the whole grouping thing. I got to know many people there since you tended to see the same names a lot of the time. People think I am crazy for liking it, but hey, to each their own.

Anemos was more fun than Pagos, but Pagos got better once I hit 30 and could really start to get around and even more so at 32. But yeah, if you are under 30, DON'T bother with Pagos, it's just too dangerous and annoying. Plus you will almost never get any of the Fates unless you camp at the first crystal.

Also, just grinding the levels out to 35 has gotten me a lot for the Pagos weapon. 5 ice, 400 Pagos crystals, and 20 light crystals. The last 100 PC's will get my light even closer. I figure I will probably have to light grind for about 8-9 of them to get to 31.

To me that's one major flaw among many. People shouldn't have to grind in Anemos past lvl 20 just so they can get around Pagos. That's just...wrong. I realize that this was a "fix" with the challenge log but it's still another thing wrong with Pagos.

Then you never played BDO xD. lvl 61-62, was lvl 61 for 8 months, never went past 50%.

Eureka Pagos, was lvl 35 in 2 weeks xD.

I like that I can independently progress something, even if it's as worthless as a relic.

This was in Anemos too, assuming you meant literally 'getting around'.

Most of the criticism around Pagos centers around the idea that there should be a train. Anemos was just as frustrating to navigate, but you always had 100 other players and a guaranteed raise.

The systems in Pagos are an improvement over Anemos in every way.

But I don't like that the jump from Anemos>Pagos felt like it was all stuff that could have been done in a hotfix, and am concerned that's how Pyros will work. Too little too late. In total it didn't feel like it warranted a new zone and several months of development.

And ultimately, it still feels as though there's no depth to anything in Eureka. It's still just killing monsters. Happy bunny? It's a 'treasure map', but you're still just killing. Mutations, adaptations, you're still just killing monsters.

The majority of this game is killing monsters. Fates, dungeons, raids, maps, deep dungeon, relics, hunts, trials, beast quests, etc. is killing monsters.

I actually like Pagos in a very specific situation:
When I go in with some FC members/friends and there is pretty much no one else in the instance, preferably in a new one.
Being able to split up in small groups of 2-3 and killing different groups of monsters to work on spawning different NMs at the same time feels a lot more enjoyable.
Especially when you now that if a fate spawn on the other side of the map the rest of the gang will wait for you to join them. Doing those fate bosses with 8-16 people makes them a lot more interesting too.

Enjoying eureka is accidental (meeting nice people, for example) and doesn't matter much. Eureka is a waste of energy that shouldn't be made again (empty area, boring fights, anecdotal plot, etc.)

Believe it or not. Yes I enjoy Eureka. Anemos and Pagos and know several people who do.

They do not use reddit or the forums. They know better

I am filled with white-hot rage over Eureka. The relic grind was actually my favorite bit of content in previous expansions; and it's been taken away, to be replaced with this hot mess.
If they gave me the option to get a Eureka weapon for 100,000 mendacity without ever having to set foot in the place again, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Maybe 2 or 3 times.
As it is ... I suspect they're going to have to nerf Pagos much harder (like, it's over from level 20 to finished in less than 10 hours hard) AND telegraph enormous design changes, if they want enough people to even consider setting foot in Pyros...

They need to make it so anything over lvl 30 gives some form of light. Challenge logs after 35 need to give light or Pagos crystals.

Honestly, same with Anemos. If you're lvl 20 you get anemos crystals from challenge log.

You sure can't enjoy Eureka if your only one in the instance. Left 10 times and keep getting put in a instance where I am only one in it. They need to fix this if they want ones to enjoy it.

I have done all of the base relics plus 3 zodiac weapons, all anima weapons to the sharpened stage (so the 50 crystals step after umbrites) plus 4 finished lux weapons. Also all of the anemos weapons plus 4 full gears sets.
Anemos was decent, but Pagos just killed it. Everything about it's design screams "f you for not playing Anemos the way we intended to!" with all its roadblocks and RNG layers. I leveled to 35 to finish the story once the train was back post first nerf, and haven't set a foot in there since. I highly doubt that I'll ever enter Pyros and the SB relic is now dead to me.

I said it before in the "Eureka is ruined" thread about Pagos, but I'll say it here again: Pagos exhibits incredibly lazy design that apparently got the green light just because it'd be something to "keep players busy" through means of mindless grinding for hours (which this game's battle system is not designed for), incredibly stacked RNG to achieve anything outside of leveling with a dash of gating, attempts at dissuading player-adopted behaviors from Anemos (the NM train) and "oh, players just haven't bothered discovering the most efficient way of farming light" (Use a HQ pagos potion, face mobs south on all prime-numbered chains, make sure to spin your Magia board one full rotation every mob, squeeze an elemental in every 5th kill, have your healer spam /comfort on every 10th mob, and then pray RNG decides to mutate your mob on the 30th chain-- how did no players discover this simple, obvious trick?? :rolleyes:)

Pagos wasn't designed to be entertaining, it was designed to be a time sink on all fronts, and that's not acceptable. The biggest culprit is how much of a crutch RNG has become in Pagos to the point that it turns-off more people than it motivates to "tolerate" it, not helped by the fact that the "rewards" are clearly not desirable enough and the content itself does nothing to keep players engaged. They actually thought it would be acceptable to release another Diadem 2.0's Emergency Mission-esque loot system (in Cassie) by only having the drop go to one participating player (in a mob of say, 90+ people) as if there was no outcry against that idea; meanwhile the NM itself so scarcely gets spawned due to the fickle nature of the spawning conditions and lack of manpower most times to do so.

The light system (or chaining, as a whole) discourages socializing (no time for idle chit-chat, or there goes your coveted chain 30) and I've seen it actually create animosity due to camping disputes. Worst yet, you can go for extended periods of no progress in your light bar while one or several people in your party won't shut up about all the light they're getting because RNG isn't just for Eureka lootboxes any more. I'm sure I don't need to elaborate on the Hakutaku eyes and the RNG needed to put-up with for something really only useful in Eureka (which is such a big hit right now that everyone is spending all their time in there, yeah?) or your XI nostalgia-fix glamour. I really could go on, but I'm preaching to the choir.

I mean if you can enjoy it for whatever it is right now, more power to you.

I have been playing Pagos substantially lately. I had struggled to get from 21-25. I really wasn't liking the content very well at all. However once I got to 25 and I met some really nice people that went out of their way, raising me and taxiing me to camps. I really felt a sense of community, more like I did when I was playing ffxi. I think that the idea of Pagos was meant to bring people together.

I do agree that it is rough to get to the higher levels now that a lot of the hard core people have finished their weapons. I think my experience in the last week have been one of the more enjoyable contents due to people coming together. I only wish that more people would have this experience. I plan to buy a dual seat mount, so that I can help people, like was done for me.

Please don't bash me too hard, this was only my experience. I don't have any friends that still play this game, so this was a different experience for me. To all those that have helped me lately in game, I wish you all the best. I really enjoyed your help.

All of this to get the equivalent weapon that you can grind out for tomestones super easy now, 370. The materia slots aren't worth the headache.

It all comes down to is the time investment worth the result. And it seems to a lot of the playerbase, the answer to that is No.

Tried Eureka for the first time today. People are helpful but it was hard to find a group for a little bit. Krile made It sound like I needed to get the Aetherites to continue. So I ran up north to find I need to be level nine. Turned out I needed to level. People said eureka was like the Yo Kai event. Not at all. With Yokai I knew exactly what I was doing, I could easily do it solo though It was more fun with a group. I could do it on almost any class/job and use my Chocobo. After talking to Krile again I realized that she even knows it's bad content:

I would enjoy it more if the content were built for both single and party player use. That, and the ability to actually learn the lore of the island, more matter how big or small, as you go and play crafting and gathering classes through it, too. Otherwise I wouldn't mind the grinding so much.

Eureka was designed to have the players figure out things on their own and then share information among each other for the betterment of the players. Without a critical mass of people in Eureka, it becomes unworkable and there in lies its flaw. Its not like a dungeon where you can contently funnel people into it thanks to the roulette, its a pyramid that once your done with that floor, you go up. The problem with this just like a pyramid, the amount of people who completed the previous levels gets less and less as you reach the top.

Its an experiment on multiple levels, content, zone work, player assistance level and even management as Yoshi let the FFXI team make this for the most part. As long as they learn and improve things in the future, hopefully we will get better content.

I've been doing Eureka for a month post Relic trying to get even a single item from the NMs to no avail. Got no Eyes, no Belt, no Earring. 12 hours a day. I'm dying.

I enjoyed the leveling part of pagos, the light grinding is a bit messy, but the way the drop rates are on the FFXI nostalgia items I wish would be improved.

I made 2 weapons on Pagos before I heard about the new logos system. I'm done lol.

With Logos it just seems like SE is throwing more complications in simply to complicate things again instead of coming up with an innovative and exciting system. At this point I have no interest in even setting foot in Pyros. Shame too, first expac I wont walk away with multiple relics, or even a single relic, for. Had high hopes for Eureka reinvigorating my interest in this game, but if anything it drove me to play more other games instead and also made me question whether or not I will even buy the next expac. The advertising will have to be crazy good to get me to keep going past 4.55 at this point, if I even make it that far...

No. It's lazy, uninspired, boring content designed to be a huge timesink with very little enjoyment involved.

Where does it say the XI team made Eureka? I know it was inspired by (all the worst parts of) XI and some of the XI team now works on XIV but I never heard it was mostly made by the XI team. Esp since the current and small XI team is pumping out monthly content updates I think it would be hard for them to do something of this scale.

I enjoyed Anemos a lot, even though it was just unending FATEs farming. You could talk a lot in the NM train and there weren't many salty people. On the other hand, Pagos is probably the worst piece of content I have ever seen in a MMO (and I've played a lot of GW1/2 and WoW), I don't even want to set foot there to access Pyros anymore.

Not just the relic weapon, but plot. The fate of the Isle of Val has been a mystery since post-ARR, originally raised in the course of the MSQ, and here it is at last... have fun slogging through the content to find the answer, right?

Granted, the crafting and gathering questlines also have stories locked behind them, but you can chip away at that at a much slower pace, or skip a lot of the work by buying all your requested items from the marketboard instead. (I don't do that, but people can if they want to.)

Other "outside of normal gameplay" activities like PVP - or even Diadem as far as I'm aware - don't have story locked behind them in the same way.


It also seems quite hard to gather a group or even a second player for completing the challenge log entries to level up (at least in English on a JP server), and trying to grind solo is massively slower and harder. I just don't want to have to spend my time doing this tedious work when I could be doing something enjoyable.

I think that's what it comes down to. It's "required" work in a different gameplay style to the rest of the game. I wouldn't buy a game that made me play this sort of content from the start, so why should I suddenly be expected to enjoy it seventy levels later? I didn't sign up for this.

I dont enjoy Eureka at all. It become pretty fast boring, and it also feels like i achieve nothing at all there. Feels more like a big waste of time there. And all this monotony there is also giving me more a feeling of demotivation. Really poor and bad "content" in my eyes. :(

Anemos was good, Pagos was so bad that I stopped after one level, Pyros I won't be able to try out because I can't be bothered to do Pagos. :/
For me they just included a content block with Pagos.

For me Anemos was boring but it had some new things like needing a party to kill even low level mobs, having death risk crossing the map at low levels. A very good thing which is people help each other a lot and if you are in a place where people pass you easily get raised. People inside parties go a long way to raise people inside their party too. The feeling of getting beter quality of life as you level up and can move around with less risk, until you have the mount, a great step. Even then you die a lot and need raises. You are carried all the way inside the train since all the damage is done by high level people, in Pazuzu all damage is done by level 20 people. Later you carry other people.

I think in Anemos it was a bit too easy to get many more weapons once you have the first one. I loved that. Probably because it was launched late in the patch and the weapons were already worse than the tome ones people already had. There was also a lot of loot handed to you in Anemos, too much even (repeated gear to bore you, and lots of materia and minions too.) In Pagos the loot is scarce relatively and the most coveted loot is super difficult to get.

Because of that, obtaining multiple weapons in Pagos seems to us a thing you wouldn't consider doing. Pagos phase is not longer to do than other previous relics but it is much harder than Anemos. It is this that has made people upset about it (plus the scarce/difficult loot.) I think Pagos is not worse than the atma or books or light phases of other previous relics. And many people didn't experience for example the Atma phase in its time which was very very much worse to survive. Except the ARR two inicial relic phases, which for me looked like part of the story, I always thought a second relic too much uneeded work. There are many other weapons around. Doing one relic is like a tradition, you don't do it for practical reasons.

Let's be honest. They did this purely to avoid another Diadem scenario where no one did it. With Pagos, they can try to save face and point to some degree of activity. Diadem, on the other hand, is a downright embarrassment as it remains the only piece of content Yoshida has openly said they may simply close down. It's that unpopular.
