Guys...
Chill out and enjoy the game, thinking about how hard the Dev team is working on it. This Letter from the Producer just tells us that. All we can do now is support them, give suggestion and most important, Play their f*cking game!
I identify with being Welsh, but as the same time, I can identify with being British, because Wales has been under Englishoppressionrule for so long.
It kinda depends on who you ask, but I like being a part of the UK.
Thank you for recognising the differences between Wales and England, and not calling me English. <3
Wales, the forgotten land.
yea. okay. so here's my letter from a consumer:
on Jan. 4th i went to work.
i think i had a tuna sandwich for lunch.
it cost 3€ (which i paid from my own wallet).
i didn't feel like loggin in that day, so i played Angry birds.
was still thinkin about if i want to pay the subscription fees.
i decided to do so, cuz i knew big things were about to come.
and - lo and behold! - the amount of available mounts DOUBLED within one lettered patch.
and to quote Yoshi-P from the last part in his letter:
"and that you all continue to enjoy paying for the game as well."
I'm not going to deny that I feel a little annoyed by that letter, but I guess this is Yoshi keeping his mouth shut, instead of giving us promises he can't keep.
Hopefully this isn't the only Lodestone update this week.
:/ You people are misreading all that. Let me see if I can translate the letters for you haters
"Hi, we've been on holidays, also I ended up going to the hospital, so we couldn't write a letter yet. Don't worry, we're actually working on preparing the letter about patch 1.21"
That about sums it up what it matters for you heartless, hateful and blind guys
I guess he....

I'm enjoying Letter from the Consumer very much.
Anyway, the Letter from the Producer may be Yoshida's personal thing and he is free to talk about whatever he wants, whether it be flying squirrels or clock radios. However, it is also the most direct means by which he has conveyed information about FFXIV to the playerbase since he took the reins a year ago. There is nothing wrong with being disappointed about the first letter in a month because it is basically 90% "here is our Japanese culture" and 10% "talk to you about FFXIV next time". If you're interested in Japanese culture, then fantastic, but we have rampant, widespread social media for a reason. One would expect them to step up their game now given the first pay cycle has begun.
So...in after....oh, screw it.
Yawn, go team go I suppose?
Just when I didn't think I could hate parts of this community anymore, this shit happens. Yoshida's the director/producer of this game and he's been working his ass off for this game. Then when he makes a light-hearted, New Years post he gets this? This is a Letter from the Producer and that's precisely what we got. It was more about the team and how the year is starting, which is indirectly related to the game. Also it kind of explains why some news hasn't been coming through as quickly, the man's worked himself into sickness. It's seriously infuriating to see the players who have such little compassion for the people working themselves to the bone for this game. It's shit like this that makes the English community look bad.
On the note of the actual letter, it was nice to get some cultural insight.
im fairly annoyed there was no mention of how far away 1.21 is, in real terms, 2 weeks, 2 months, either way, even if its an over estimation, a date to look forward too is nice.
To each and every one of you going, "I don't care about his personal problems", "tell me something about the game!!!", "wtf is this, who cares about Yoshi?" you need to take a step back, get a crowbar to pry your head out of your ass, and actually listen to the callous, selfish, and thoughtless verbal diarrhea you're spewing, as if:
1) Your disgusting and self-serving opinions are somehow valuable because you've played this game for a year (congratulations, they're not),
2) Your playing a broken game is somehow, in any way, shape, or form, more of a job than trying to fix the broken game for nasty little ingrates like you (who, in spite of playing this game for a year, are consistently never happy with it anyway), and,
3) Playing a game means that the people responsible for making the game are now magically considered indentured servants, for whom no pity or personal compassion must be shown, because THEY'RE THE REASON YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS TERRIBAD GAME, DAMMIT. SO SHUT UP AND GIMME MORE OF IT, CHURL.
Really. Really? Really.
Most of you need to take a fucking chill pill, a step back from this game, and pay the fuck attention to something aside from your own goddamned petty desires for about thirty seconds. Yoshi has overworked himself to the point of being chronically ill -- but we haven't gotten a detailed job list, so clearly, he's not doing his job well enough. The man was hospitalized -- but you only got a free Goobbue, so it doesn't matter. What the fuck is wrong with you people?
I just -- I cannot understand. My mind cannot fathom the black pit of entropy that has replaced where your common sense and human decency should be. Maybe that should be the next GC mission! A quest where the player is timed on how long they can not play the game, to go and look for their sense of humanity! What a thought! No doubt most of you would fail it.
I am appalled and ashamed to be a member of the NA crowd. Stay classy, guys; God knows, we need more heartless misanthropes and selfish asshats in the world. (b^_^)b
Just a word of advice, swearing and telling people they're this and that does not help you get your point across.
Why does this qualify as front-page news after no substantial news for several weeks?!
How dare you expect any information about Final Fantasy XIV in the Letter from the Producer of Final Fantasy XIV?
You must be some sort of heartless bastard.
P.S. to everyone preparing to revolt and attack SE HQ because Yoshida posted a cheeky letter: He did the same thing last year, stop getting jimmies rustled.
Fixed!!!!!Quote:
PlayingPaying for a game means that the people responsible for making the game are now magically considered indentured servants, for whom no pity or personal compassion must be shown, because THEY'RE THE REASON YOU HAVE TOPLAYPAY FOR THIS TERRIBAD GAME, DAMMIT. SO SHUT UP AND GIMME MORE OF IT, CHURL.
Yoshida said he would be more careful with estimates from now on (a good thing!), so I doubt we'll hear anything until everything is ready and good to go.
I read that as, "If it doesn't personally affect me or how much or little I may personally play this game, than I don't care to hear about it, because -- other things in life besides my own needs? Pffffft. Screw them; just gimme another hit of crack."
The man was in the fucking hospital. Though, I guess that's his fault for assuming the playerbase might give the slightest hint of a damn about him as a human being, and not assuming he's a robot that exists purely for your amusement. Guess it's my fault for actually caring about anyone in the world but myself, too. I must be behind the times. I GOTTA GET WITH THE PROGRAM.
The bottom line is that he turned a "letter from the producer of ffxiv, RE: FFXIV" to "Yoshida-san personal blog"
EDIT:
Yoshida in my mind lol:

I'd like to see the face of my customers if I tell them about my new year's do when they were expecting a progress update
Happy New Year to u too Yoshida-san! ^^ I hope you have a good year, and yes please take better care of yourself~
We wish u the best here in Eorzea and hope you are feeling better from your fever. :)
Thanks to all your hard work Square Enix~ <3 :D
Sure we care about him, but we haven't had a meaningful update on upcoming content in weeks. We expect such an update in these letters. You come off as incredibly abrasive and insulting. It's not "selfish" to desire details on a product we're paying for rather than reading yoshi's life details, regardless of what his life events entailed.
