There, white knight, I help you out explain it!
If a hair splits and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Some deep philosophical musings for you this fine day.
Huuuhh...
It's funny that you guys are debating over the release of a patch in the future instead of playing the game and wait for it.
What are you paying for!?
If there are delays, they'll F*cking say it! If you don't believe me, then just look for it =)
Yoshi said the delay of 1.20 would not delay 1.21, that to me says that different teams are working on the various content, so the fact that 1.20 was late, doesn't mean the production of new 1.21 content would be delayed.
So far none of the patches have been overlay late, 1-2 weeks over is pretty good time keeping for games development deadlines.
So long as 1.20b has more than 1 mount in it, it'll keep me pacified until the middle of february, where, according to the diagram on the lodestone 2.0 pdf's, it should be due.
So what we're wanting here is for them to release more things incomplete, like the launch of this game? Considering how well that worked the first time surely it will be ok this time right? Right?
As said a couple posts ago, 1.20b won't delay the schedule of 1.21 release.
If anything delays 1.21 it will be 1.21 if that makes sense.
They have different teams working on different projects, in all liklihood the team working on Goobue has less to contribute to 1.21 than the other teams.
They don't just sit there and go, oh, 1.20b is done! We can work on 1.21 now! They probably have been working on parts of 1.21 since last July.
1.20b will probably come sometime this week or early next week, and 1.21 will probably come ~10th of Feb.
Bottom line of all of this is, I don't care when the patch is, Make it polished and take the time you need. The key here is keep us in the loop. Don't let weeks go by without status reports on current progress. Especially as the time grows closer and closer to the expected release window(not date, Window). The longer people go with no information the more speculation there will be,
SE stomp the speculation, give us facts. It's a simple as a "We're right on schedule!" or "We've encountered some issues, and the patch may be delayed for X time." A weekly status report would be nice, I'm sure you have Daily, weekly and monthly steering meetings to ensure they you are hitting your goals, just share the high and low points. High level, no details and commitments.
But there is information you can take from it. Like general status. No ones asking for secrets and internal workings and details.
Hell Put a traffic light on your website for Patch progress status, with an ETA on it. They can change it from Green, to Yellow to Red depending on progress(but had better have an explination for red).
Looking at the pattern in the last few patches I'm guessing we will see 1.21 bumped from early February to mid February for balance adjustments and whatnot. While I'm super excited for the patch, at the same time I would rather it be a good working patch and not rushed out to meet a deadline.
The good news is that they have really been on the ball with at most a week delay in the patch, (not too bad really). That being said, and not knowing their development cycle I can't say if 1.20b is going to delay 1.21, but it might to some degree.
I guess the trick is to enjoy the game as best you can, look forward to the future, and try to not let delays effect you. It will arrive when it does, and hopefully we'll start to get that information shortly. :)
Wish we would get some solid information. I would enjoy some lore or even a pic of a mog house. Seems like the update should be right around the corner and devs have not been putting out any juicy bits lately.
you think people are annoyed with late patches now, just wait till they delay 2.0
As long as 2.0 comes out on time as planned I'm OK with the delays on current... although faster/on time is better :D
YoshiP put in the 2.0 document 1.21 early Feb so we'll see lol
For the person who said we are being left in the dark: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/31373
Posting info like this any earlier would just be repeating themselves. Expect an updated version of the table soon.
Patch Day Prediction: Thursday 1st March 2012.
Now that 2.0 is coming, delays/content of patches is not as important as it used to be.
One could argue that, now that we are paying for this game, delays should be seen as MORE important and harmful to the community than before, not less. I mean, a patch delay here, then a few more there, pretty soon 2.0 gets pushed back until the middle of 2013. No big deal though, right?
Its a tough spot to be in, most MMO's dont have half the community waiting anxiously for the next patch to come because they are busy playing a game with plenty to do.
I predict 1.20b coming out the end of this week and I think it's a safe assumption to expect 1.21 in mid to late February. As far as this resulting in a late 2.0 release? It is very likely that 2.0 will be delayed, but it wouldn't be over these acutely delayed patches.
Going into the spring, patches will be spaced out a lot further from each other and the main focus, I'm assuming, will be on their 2.0 client. During that time is what will determine a delay for 2.0. Not this patch's possible delay. Hardly anything to do with it.
I think the only thing most of us want is info about the timed release of content THEY GAVE US A SCHEDULE FOR. If you bought tickets to the opera and got a program saying the show starts at six, and they didn't go on until 9, but no one came out and said a word about the delay, I am pretty sure you would be more than a little pissed. Things get delayed and pushed back on large projects like this, that part I get. But don't wait until the day before its due or even the day of to come out and tell us to keep waiting, its rude.
Yep, not to mention its funny how the ones who call people white knights are generally the ones that are doing the defending -- as in they continually defend their stance that SE is doing a poor job every time they do something.
Like that old saying:
"If you accuse your lover of cheating chances are it's because it's you who's doing the cheating."
Exactly, but also they got pretty good idea that the thing is going to be pushed back so instead of telling you "oh, sorry the opera will start the earliest at 9" they leave you in the dark or give you a arbitrary answer. Yoshi could say "We're working on 1.20b, letter, poll but they will be released earliest next week maybe later," that's fine, I got no problem with straight up answers. However, "we're working on the next patch and stuff" answer is just annoying. Obviously they are working on that, I have no doubt 1.20b gonna be released or next producer letter, but it's gonna happen when it's gonna happen answer is good as nothing.
Reinheart made a good point in another thread. Yoshi has been posting updates over the last 2 weeks in the Japanese forums, just not in the ENglish ones. After reading some of the stuff thats said in our forums, I can't say I am at all suprised he gave up talking to us lol. Typical example:
"SE needs to hurry up"
"Se should take their time, your stupid"
"No YOUR stupid and your Mom is fat. "
"You can't say that about my MOm even if she is! Back when I was playing FFXI, Noone would have EVER said anything about my Mom like that'
"OMG! You played FFXI, your such a Fanboy!"........
"Shut up troll! No one cares what you think!"
blah, blah, blah "Why haven't we heard anything about the next patch yet!"
That is assuming the 2.0 team is the same as the 1.0 team. I remember at release reading that there was a launch team of 140. In one of the interviews Yoshi-P did he mentioned there are now 250 on the team. Of course there will be cross-over between the two teams but i don't think Goobbue mounts are taking up 2.0 resources.
I think it is safe to assume everybody who is still in this forum wants the game to do well, in their own way, or they wouldn't throw away their money on it.
The difference is some people can enjoy the game AND criticise and complain to help make the game better, and some others will defend SE no matter what they do, to the point of denying obvious facts (like most patches to date being late). If it was for the "white knight" type, we would still be running 15 man parties with random SP gains and silly fatigue systems...
While I am not worried about 1.20b and 1.21, it would be nice to have an estimate from the devs.
A lot of people say this, and it's the same people bashing every shit they can. Like..threat meter ? level icon ? A lot of things. There's a limit on what you can criticize, and how. Goobbue mount meter it's still here, and it's the pinnacle of harrasment of this forum. Never seen so much personal attack like in that topic, at the point 2 entire moderators comed to make it stop.
also nei, this "white knight here, white knight there" it's getting old and offensive. I lost count how much times you said in this topic.

Didn't realize November was a 40 day month and December was only 21 days, Someone tell Santa clause he needs to re think this whole christmas thing, u know just when he does it cause that day doesn't exist
Then there's people who don't know the difference between given an actual release date and a release time frame, which is why people like you say someone denies something even though anyone with a brain knows only patch 1.18 has been delayed beyond it's release time frame.
By the way, no one defended the Fatigue system, if you're going to troll and create your own definition of a white knight, at least make sure it makes sense lol.
