Doesn't change the fact that most ppl would be here complaining about relic grind regardless as they did with ANY kind of grind content.
Honestly the most common argument is that the grind was monotonous and boring but frankly I don't agree with that since any kind of grind becomes teadious eventually
Mid-Late January yeah? usually about 3-3 1/2 months between patches 4.1 took longer because the same thing during 3.0 happened. After expansion dropped Yoshida gives the dev team a monthish off.
But savage is an uptuned and modified version of normal, which tons of people do regularly. The changes don't constitute a huge development resource, considering the primary costs of the initial design, art, and music are already there from normal. I'd also question 2% as a number, based on how many savage groups are active on a regular basis.
Ultimate might fit that bill, but ultimate was extremely good for the game PR wise, with people actually talking about it and streaming it far beyond what normally happens. That's a good thing.
The idea that relics and Eureka were delayed because of it is pretty questionable, suggesting that it was simply a staffing issue and not a design issue. It sounds like it was more of a design issue they had to sort out instead, and throwing more people at it won't fix those. In software development, one of the most famous lessons learned is "Adding more people to a late project makes it later."
I don't do savage and want this stuff to get here as much as anyone else does, but blaming this on savage is pretty questionable.
The only complaint I had with the relics was the RNG to get the crystals/atma/whatever else you got from FATEs. Aside from that, the relic quests were a good distraction to the drought in new content. Also helped me practice some of the classes to get better at them.
WoW just released a brand new raid last week. Depending on the last time said person played WoW there's probably a decent bit of content waiting for them to tide them over until 4.2.
Let's be honest, if they didn't get it, they'd leave and FF14 would turn into a mobile game or something like Club Penguin. He'll it'd probably still be profitable, but it wouldn't be good by gaming standards.
I just want to say i am bored... and most of my guildmates are not logging recently... theres nothing to do but leveling and not many ways to level either (post 60) just fates (not time efficient) daily roulettes and some pvp. I truely disslike the pace SE is adding content.
I for one am really glad that they decided to cut down to only one dungeon in the odd patches to bring us more content. Right guys? ...guys?
While Ultimate is a different story, Savage came out way before the content drought of 4.1~4.15. Blaming the lack of current content on Savage is extremely misplaced. Actually, according to LuckyBancho's current census, about 7% have cleared Neo. So that's more than your 1-2% right there. Not sure what the numbers are for the lower floors, but certainly higher than 7% (and that number may be higher still, because I'm thinking he bases it off of who has the mount since not everyone has achievements public). With regards to resources, during the entirety of this game's life, more resources have always been directed to the more softcore/casual content. To say raiders are constantly catered to is blatantly false. 4.1 is extremely dry in terms of casually-oriented content, but you're still wrong to say the developers throw "so many development resources" at them all the time.
If there wasn't Savage content in this game, then that 7% would probably have quit a long time ago. People raid because they need more; I'm part of that group. If I hadn't started raiding back in Creator, I would have left this game probably after finishing SB's main story. Now, don't take any more of my posts and turn them into "anti-Savage" and "anti-raider" posts, please.
Just because I'm agreeing SE screwed up by delaying the Relic (again, since I heard it may be 4.25 now instead of 4.2) doesn't mean I agree that raiders "get all the resources", because they don't.
They have not said anything yet on 4.2 patch content, ppl have said 4.25 for eureka and relic because of what they have done so far
I have had little drive to get on as it is. I have no desire to keep running the alliance raid for upgrading gear and there is little desire to work on other jobs/classes. Been playing other games in the down time.
Originally developers had stated that Eureka was going to be delayed until 4.2 (back before 4.1 was released since people were expecting relic related content based on the previous pattern of Anima relics starting in 3.15), but now there's talk about Eureka being 4.25 now, not 4.2.
Ye there's talk between bplayer nothing official let's not make forum assumption as official statement
Yoshi-p recently said that stuff like reducing the patch's content to one dungeon instead of two, allowed them to do stuff like the last MSQ fight, with more development than just talking to A and then B.
Is it worth it, I ask? You're removing a permanent element from the game for a one-time experience, which is the MSQ. As a FF title, they should ALWAYS bring quality content when it comes to their story. If they can't because their budget is tight, then they should point their fingers somewhere else (cough SE itself cough cough) and not compromise the amount of content they release every patch.
Yes my comment was about the 4.15 tossed around by some players that quickly was made as truth.
True according to past behavior is something to be expected but till something official is said 4.2 as a date is the only thing we know
Actually, it's more likely the dungeon was sacrificed for Ultimate. We've had story fights like Lakshmi previous; most noteworthy being The Grand Melee. Now I don't necessarily mind losing a dungeon for Ultimate since, let's be honest, no one cares about dungeons nowadays anyway. That being said, if they could have lengthened Savage to 5-6 fights per tier or added another Primal. I can't argue people claiming they made the wrong decision given how low successful clears of Ultimate are. And that's a bit saddening to admit because I love seeing and participating in the spectacle. I suppose if it garnered enough attention through Twitch and whatnot, that's a positive.
