in the prod letter they showed an animation of riding the eye. he was sitting on head with legs on side as if horse back

Let's just go one step further and not include anything in this game that falls outside the very narrow "final fantasy-esque" definition as construed by some on these boards and ensure the game isn't enjoyable for anybody at all in the larger world outside of a few selective purists. That's sure to make this a lasting enjoyable success for years to come.
It looks ridiculous. I'm sure the tasteless majority will love them.
Taste being riding the same yellow chicken everyone else rides? Ok. Give me the 13 chocobos and i'll do it.
I completely agree with Zantetsuken. It will make the game look ridiculous.
What's worse is that we're doing it so a fraction of the playerbase can say "LOLIMMAONAGOOBUE" for 5 seconds and then ignore it afterwards. What a waste of resources.
I don't think it's that over the top. Maybe they can make the Gobbue a bit smaller. I'm not sure how this is 'tasteless' compared to 20 people riding a giant yellow bird? If anything it'll add a bit more live to the game. I wouldn't mind see-ing them, but for now I'll stick to a chocobo.
If i don't like it no one else should and no one should have them!
Wondering if this ties into the christmas and new years events... The snowman did turn into a goobbue after all.
Let's hope they are temporary and for a quest line only.
I probably won't use them myself, but I don't mind them being in the game ^.^
There is a chance this is our sub-up reward Yoshi-P mentioned.
I'm torn, I think it looks awesome and a lot of fun to ride around but I do think it would be a bit strange for there to be a bunch of them all running together to Ifrit's cave for example.
I sort of hope they are slow or have a long cooldown and people will only pull them out for the lolz but not seriously use them for travel.
As for not fitting in the game, the Ul'dah opening story is about a tamed Gobbue that gets away from its controller so it is not out of line that they could be harnessed for travel.
Finally, I want to have a Lalafell dance party on its head. :D
I very very frankly can't stand people in your mindset. How bout YOU just only use chocobos and shun the other mounts if you don't like them. Some of us like choices and the richness choices bring to our games. I feel like you should be back playing the old final fantasy games and shutting your gob if you don't like progress. This is their game. End of story.
And ending that rant, that mount looks aweeesoooome
I have to disagree for those wanting it to be a cooldown item. Why can't it share the same speed as my chocobo? Why does it have to be treated differently when it's a mount? I think it should have the same speed as all special mounts (ahriman/drake/magitek) for the fastest regular mount (OBVIOUSLY CHOCOBOS) you have access to. Don't have your GC license yet? You'll have yourself a rented speed chocobo.
I hope they'll also add lightsabers and mass accelerator guns and a /fart emote. That would make for a much more diverse gaming experience and speak to a broader audience.
What's that? You wouldn't like any of those? Well, then just don't use it! This is Final FANTASY, they can add whatever they want!!1
Wait a minute.
Did I hear a cry for artistic integrity in a Final Fantasy game!?
Do I really need to list how wrong that is?
People seriously need to get over their own pretentiousness and remember the good old days of the series when things had a lighter side to them as well. Quit looking a gift Goobue in the mouth.
Make it slower than personal chocobos, and people will still use chocobos. I know I would.
Also, can I ride him through Ul'dah? I just want to re-enact the Ul'dah opening.
Then again, he's not a donkey, so *sadface :(
I get to be a hat?
What sort of topsy turvey world is this?!
SE, heres you prize for being faithful, a slow ass mount<no thank you> make him fast. Would be nice if they have a few choices and we get to pick one so everyone don't have the same thing.
oh please so much whining. FFXIV is moving foward with more uniqe munts. collecting mount is also content for some people and may attract more players.
People need to get over this "Omg we already have one mount"
Diversity is fun, and having options is great. Not everything has to be unique to the series. And it's not like these mounts are "stupid" and I doubt they will just be handed to us. We will have some lore/story to it so calm down.
This is very exciting, walking in the perspective of a gobbue.
When in 2.0 where we can have our mount as a party member this is gonna rock!
the year is 2020 FF23 online. "i think ff should only have chocobo and goobbue mounts because thats what it had before, QQ, QQ"
So your argument is they shouldn't try to have artistic integrity at all, because they failed to show it in another area of the game? A failure that was supposedly forced due to hardware limitations of the PS3, that they plan on rectifying by completely reversing the design decision lead to it?
Anyway, as for topic.. ew. Sorry, I don't like the idea at all, as I said back at time of announcement. It just.. feels wrong. I only console myself with it being a one-off thing but all the same, it comes down to a simple fact that seeing one person riding one might be cool.. imagining a horde of players riding them, clipping through each-other and swamping camps and nodes, kind of turns my stomach.
Call it whining if you want, but that's my opinion for what it's worth and that's that - sorry eh?
Yes, the people who don't like it because the Chocobo has always been the only FF mount can continue to ride their chocobo. You guys complained about the glow effect on the Ifrit weapons because it would be "too much". The moogle weapons are "too cute" and not "Final Fantasy". Come on now people can't we have a little fun? Is it really such a big deal that we will now have another mount to ride around on? I look forward to the addition of the gobbue, drake, eye, and magitek mount and am absolutely dying for 2.0 to release so we can have our battle companion chocobos.
The current devs have decided on a vision that is meant to appeal to a wider audience. Oh no here I go... Yes, the people who play World of Warcraft. SE for some reason has decided that it would like to make some money and I for one applaud them for doing so. Now where's my Roegadyn riding saddle my legs are tired from all the scurrying around. lol
