Aah, if only it was dyeable and it came with the hairstyle... ;A;
I wonder if they left the hairstyle out this time because they plan to release Lyse's final outfit in the future?
Why it isn't dyable?!?!?! o_O It's a very simple outfit and it costs 14 bucks, which is almost the same than people's sub... put some effort into it at least...
I'm surprised that people are still surprised about NPC outfits, not being made unisex. Also it being undyeable is no surprise as well. Just about no NPC outfit was ever dyeable.
Nah, we are suprised that even tough this game has alot of male NPC with unique outfits, SE decided to sell 2 female exclusive outfit right after each other. If SE released a male npc outfit between Edda and Lyse, then there wouldnt be such backlash from those that are not happy with the release of Lyse outfit.
As for it not being dyable, isnt it about time SE gives their customers something worth their money? Why is it so hard to sell a outfit that is dyable? Instead of the status quo, we should voice our opinion and stand united. I mean who here who bought the outfit is happy with SE's decision to sell a outfit that is not dyable?
$5 for a tiny patch of virtual snow. REALLY?
i love waking up and being disappointed at yet another female-only glamour option!
I mean... It's an optional purchase , so I'm opting to not get it. :)
To the one who said they were gonna unsub, please don't get mad over one item. Fight the good fight, stay vocal, so they can hear what you want.
Why does it not include the hair? Bummer :(
It's not just one item; it's 21 individual in-game glamour items or 60 items (plus hairstyles) in total which are genderlocked with no equivalent for the opposite gender. Check out my posting history. Being vocal on this issue accounts for more than half my total post count, easily, over many years; they really, really don't care beyond the occasional "we're looking into it" from time to time. The insults and recycled non-arguments that the campaigners have had to deal with whenever they speak up on the issue here can be crazy, but we always kept going. Thank you, though (and thank you to everyone else who said nice things).
I'm still going to be able to moan for the next month since I already paid my subscription in advance, but my renewals are switched off and I'll spend my sudden glut of free time complaining about the game elsewhere.
It's just so, so disappointing to keep seeing new stuff released that I can't enjoy on my grumpy elezen guy. I can't even begin to describe the effect it has on morale over time. I love this game, but I hate its recent double standards.
Then they will probably make Hien's outfit to be male exclusive, but add his hairstyle to be for both genders. Not only not making something 100% exclusive to male characters, but also forcing all the female players to buy something they cannot use just because of a hairstyle included in the bundle.
I still don't understand why Aymeric's hair is for both genders but Minfilia's and Yshtola's magically cannot be put on a male character's head. Same for Snow's hairstyle and female characters, since it's just a bandana. Or even Thancred's.
I do feel like the problem here is not the lack of balance between genders, but rather the pacing in which those items are released for us. We got Edda's outfit not to long ago and the male characters had to deal with a big "I'm sorry it's girls time now", which is okay, but now there's another outfit being added that is female only without a male equivalent before it. I'm still waiting for the promised male gold saucer outfit that seems to take so much time and resources to be done for some strange reason.
And since we're at it, SE, if you guys want to keep putting those NPC clothes in the mog station at least make them dyeable. Or better than that, use your own patelle of colors to create those undyeable glamours, because 9 out of 10 times you can't even use those outfits with something other than the entire outfit because the hues simply don't match.
I told a friend when this came out you'd have dudes complaining they can't wear this. I wasn't wrong.
Where's my popcorn
Most of the items in the mog store are undyeable, I don't get their reasoning behind this but for the actual outfits the scions and npcs use they probably didn't want to add a dye option to it since it's already made and they can just toss it up on the store for people to buy without the hassle of testing it out for each and every color.
Alright, while I'm not excusing anything on SE's part here, I believe I can speculate on their reasoning.
There are fourteen character models in the game: one for each race and gender, the Hyur race uniquely having separate models for midlanders and highlanders. You may notice when you create a character that you can edit very little beyond their face, and even the "height" slider does not so much adjust the character's height as it globally scales the model, making the character bigger rather than taller.
This means that each ordinary piece of gear must also have fourteen models, because there's no dynamic engine fitting the gear piece to your character - it just loads the appropriate model, scaled to the correct size and it fits because all characters of that race/gender are the same.
Most of the NPCs in the game also use the same model set as player characters do. When they originally made Lyse's outfit for Stormblood, they fit it to the Hyur midlander female model (because Lyse uses the midlander model even though she's a highlander). They could have released it then and there as a midlander-female-exclusive as that was the model they had, but instead they kept it in development, probably for expected sales reasons, making six more models for it and eventually released it as female-exclusive instead. Now for sure they could have developed it even longer and made thirteen new models for it, releasing it fully unlocked (and maybe they'll eventually do that development later, especially if there's enough demand), but this is why the "NPC cosplay" glamours are released (at least at first) exclusive to the same gender as the original NPC.
This is dumb. I don’t want the outfit but this can easily be unisex. Take the white part off on the top and make the jacket open, and make the white part of the pants fully fill out the legs. Boom, there’s your male version. I’m not on the game at the moment, but it’s like the outfit (used to be a lv50 Bard exclusive body piece but now there’s a job all lv1 equivalent) where the jacket is open — for women there’s a bra, for men it’s simply open.
How hard is that, honestly?
All of the outfits can be, it's not hard per se or that they don't know how to do it. It's just that it's all work that needs to be scheduled and done by SE's 3D modelling staff, who presumably have a fair amount of other work to do as well. If you think this change needs prioritising, then that's a perfectly fair attitude, but be aware that that means something else has to get pushed down the priority list.
Quoting this because someone else did.
Doomsayers coming out of the woodwork after 2 female ones in a row.
Even though they 'have' been better about things, The Hannish set having a male/female/unisex option.
Wait for the inevitable Gosetsu, Zenos, and Hien outfits. Everything is going to be OK.
(And by far the bigger issue is that none of these large-meal equivalent-priced digital items are even dyable.)
(And we're still waiting on both Krile's outfit and the Male Bunny outfit, both have had an 'They're coming' official word since Heavensward.)
Yes, I think that they should put 'more NPC glamours for half their playerbase only' somewhere below 'making the bunny ears equippable by everyone like they specifically promised during a Japanese interview back in 2015'. As I've said before, I could do that in an afternoon (seriously S-E, the offer is open, you know my contact details). We've had two expansions since people were asking for such a simple thing, and three other sets of animal ears. It's silly.
I understand the realities of juggling priorities but when we get a timeline like this, it feels as though there's a distinct systemic bias rather than a few coincidental accidents.
Game launch: Everything is fair.
ARR: Some things become unfair to male characters, but we'll fix it, we promise.
HW: Have more female-only bunny glamour items instead of the unisex version of just the ears we promised before.
HW: The solution that we came up with is to release more male-only glamours in Mog Station.
HW: We're totally still working on that male bunny suit, honest, but we're busy.
SB: We're way too busy to ever finish adapting the bunny ears, but Edda came out a few months ago and you thought she was cute - here you go, ladies!
SB: Last time the ladies got something special... so here's a little something for the ladies again! Psyche!
SB: Actually we now have the same number of glamours in MS, and fewer haircuts, and there are way more unreleased female-only outfits than male ones lined up for years to come. Enjoy!
And that's not even going into all of the reskins and subpar male items now, which are subjective opinions (if you're really optimistic). This is atrocious marketing from any company which wants to retain customer loyalty from the less pretty* half of its playerbase.
* in the eyes of the dev team, apparently.
Male
1 Aymeric <- his hairstyle is made unisex
2 New Thancred
3 Thancredcan be nearly recreated in game for free
4 Uriangercan be nearly recreated in game for free
5 Cid <- his hairstyle is made unisex and in game for free
6 Papalymocan be nearly recreated in game for free
Female
1 Lyse
2 New Y'shtola
3 Yshtolacan be nearly recreated in game for free
4 Minfilia
5 Ydacan be nearly recreated in game for free
6 Edda
Female hair is locked to females only, male hair is either unisex, given in game, or unisex and given in game. The only 100% unique male outfit is Thancred's 3.0 set lol
I left tera because my male castanic got nothing. Seeing male characters get the short end of the stick here too is irritating.
Will miss your posts dude ;_;7
When I woke up and heard that Lyse's outfit was available, I got all excited thinking it was her current one - the Ala Mhigan folk dress
But when I went to Mog and noticed it wasn't it, I sort of laughed XD
I'll just wait until her new outfit (plus the hair) is ready for purchase ;)
On no! Why is this npc-unique outfit for sale, and also not for the opposite gender of the npc it's unique to. This is truly terrible.
It's kind of a shame that it can't be dyed. The jacket doesn't have intricate color shading like the Blackblossom Dress. Also, the sports top is a different (sweaty) shade of white; doesn't match the bottoms.
I bet they'll add the hair later, as a separate purchase, or with the dress outfit.
Now would be the time to begin requesting a dye-able version and hair option obtainable in game. We all know it's on the way, why not garner support to have it not be in the cash shop? In the end at least an attempt will be made.
SE, this outfit and hair style is requested to be placed in game as a quest reward and not a purchase in the mog station. The attire pictured below is not only iconic to the main story quest but also would make a great reward for palyers that have been invested in the Ala Mhigo storyline. As a personal touch the attire should be made in to fit into the five corresponding equipment slots (from top to bottom) Earrings, dress, arm guards, pants, and boots, to include the option to dye all items individually from one another. Expected with the outfit would be Lyse's hair option for all races.

"Half of the playerbase"
Two things, the game actually has many more female characters than males from my experience. And even if it were a 50/50 split of characters by gender, that doesn't mean there's a demand for it.
You're a minority, there aren't flocks of men wanting to run around in feminine outfits judging from other post I've seen from you, correct me if I'm wrong please. or bunny ears ( Though for at least the ears alone I will admit it's weird men don't have the option )
While generally they should take the time to make male and female versions of each set. It seems they take the easy route of releasing what models currently already fit the bodies. And for having say a 100% female outfit on a male ( IE the bunny attire altogether), I don't approve as it'd look silly, to each their own if you want that, it just isn't highly demanded, thus why they don't seem to take the time on it.
This isn't a flame post by all means, just my take on why they aren't particularly huge on this stuff.
"from my experience"
You're using unsubstantiated anecdotal evidence, so don't you dare talk down to me as though you have superior information. S-E's own census has males as the majority and the unofficial player-run Lodestone census has the difference as 3% more female characters/3% fewer male characters, which has already been mentioned here and statistically represents a completely irrelevant gap. There are tons of players of male characters who want bunny ears; Yoshida gets asked about it every time he shows up to an event anywhere in the entire world. Being an outspoken campaigner is a minority position, but being a regular player who would enjoy bunny ears if they were available is not especially weird. Lots of male characters use the kitsune ears. Fun is a thing.
(Heck, sexy bunny boys are a thing too at the moment with Juni Taisen airing in Japan...)
They said we would have bunny ears 'as a priority' in 2015. We know that it wouldn't take long for them to do it; they don't even need resizing for pity's sake, just positioning and removing the genderlock flag. We are, instead, treated as though our subscription dollars are worth less than those who opted for a female model during character creation.
We're all being taken for a ride, and I'm sick of having to justify why that's not ok to people who think they know more about the game's demographics than S-E themselves. If you want to debate, debate. Don't try to bully the opposition into silence by bombarding them with condescending evidence you just made up.
I really wanted the hair. I also really wanted it dyeable. I would have gladly waited another month or two or three if those things had been a part of it. Squenix take note, many of us are willing to be patient and wait happily if it will get us what we want. Evidently this also includes male glamours and versions thereof, which as someone pointed out, could have totally easily happened with this outfit with like...one day of work. You don't need to rush this stuff at us, take a few extra days or weeks and make things dyable, open-gendered when possible, and most of all COMPLETE...still want the hair. I mean, I bought the Minfillia pack LITERALLY just for the hair. The dress is great, and I love it, but it was 100% the hair. And I want Lyse's hair. Also, Hilda's, Ysayle's, Yotsuyu's, Yugiri's, and even Iroha's, since we're on the topic.
Holy shit son it wasn't a bully post or talking down, calm your tits. Just stating some opinion on why SE doesn't exactly make it a massive priority. And just because someone ask him at every event he goes to doesn't mean you have flocks of people running to him at each event YOSHI WHERES MY BUNNY OUTFIT
Besides, this is SE we're talking about. They're not exactly known for innovation, customer service nor a lot of positive things. Their game architecture is archaic at best, they don't bring hardly anything new to the MMO genre. I wouldn't hold them up to any promises of what they say they'd do
I-....I think I should stop making posts like this. It only seems to cause drama..
I mean- I do think more outfits should be unisex. (I kind of want Minfillia’s hair too) ..The Edda post had a better outcome.
I appreciate you :)
Anyone have the outfit and is an Au Ra? I want to see if it looks good on Au Ra so I would know if I want to buy it or not.
