bard performance "rant"

Not trying to derail this thread, didn't want to create an entire topic about it so i figured i'd ask here. As long as we don't stream or upload/record it are we allowed to play songs from other FF games? Thanks in advance.

It's not like they can stop you from doing so, gm's don't monitor activities in the game unless it's reported, after all bots are still spamming away.

I think you meant to reply to your other thread of shutting off as I said there's no way to shut off just the sound of the performance itself. Either don't go in the cities much, put on headphones or shut off the sounds from other players, it's literally the only option you have atm.

There's a reason shops have surveys at the end of the receipt, because they take what people say into account. If it's something that can't be fixed easily enough or doesn't warrant a fix then they'll make that decision. That's what they did with Bahamut's size, that's what they did with guass barrel and why other things have on/off options.

If I have an issue with that sound I would like to turn it off when it's something that's played a lot. I also feel like I shouldn't have to turn off all other player character sounds to do it. In fact they've constantly shown that they support even the smaller group of player's who want certain things done for rping or just because they found it annoying. I'll use /groundsit as another example.

I'm not saying they better add this, I'm not demanding it, but I'm for sure not going to let someone tell me that I can't even put up the problem that I'm having for discussion because they decided they didn't think it was a problem.

We shouldn't have to put up with it but unfortunately as it stands theres only 2 ways to deal with it, turn off player ̶s̶p̶a̶m̶ player sounds or play with your own music.

My suggestion is to add the suggestion of a toggle via the suggestion box in game, let it be known that we don't all want to hear the BRD ̶s̶p̶a̶m̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ playing notes.

This is what OP said and what most of us are +1-ing in this topic for in hopes someone in the devs gets it passed along to them. Player music is cool, but we'd like the option to opt in/out.

I too would have preferred a set list of ff themed songs with the option to collect more scrolls

Yeah I don't mind using settings for other pc sounds as a temporary thing, I just would like a more permanent solution. I know it'll die down over time but ultimately there's always going to be people doing it and I would just prefer the option. I read on reddit that /soundeffectsother can turn off other pc sounds without having to go to your settings every time but haven't been on recently to test it out, does that actually work?

I just wish the people playing songs would play like they're actually using harps and not trying to emulate songs that require them to spazz out and cause the incessant nonstop plunking, this does fall under QoL adjustments though so I'm sure we'll eventually get a sound slider for Performance actions

Uhmmmm it is selfish, and has very little do with a shop selling something cheaper, thats not a noise that can't be turned of w/o muting other desirable noises ... you don't seem to understand how horrid noise could be a problem ... which is even more childish and pathetic then your assault on someone making a reasonable request ... The problem is there, SE created it, SE needs to fix it, end of discussion .

If you don't like the noise THAT is your problem. How to solve YOUR personal issue?

Move further away from character making the noise or move to another area.

.. I'm curious why you are so vehemently against maybe a check box that allows people to stand in public area's without their ears being assaulted by hundreds of not-so-sonorous bards?
This isn't a game breaking issue to be sure, and there are plenty of options for temporary relief, but telling someone that their suggestion to a valid issue that many of us have now verified we also have a problem with is made up?

Sadly people are making too much of a big deal out of absolutely NOTHING. Requesting UNNECESSARY stuff , throwing their toys out of the pram. It's all about moan and moan and moan. It's pathetic.

It's like me saying, I hate MIST background music I wanna complaint cause it gives me headaches please change music or I'll go into a rampage.

I'm a little amused you don't know what your own name means, but I'll leave it be as you've asked.
Your counter example is very much not equivalent. Nobody is saying they'll rage or foam or quit. They're asking for an option to not hear everyone who wants to spam "performances" in the public areas.
This was a "feature" they added recently and until now it hadn't been a concern. Now we login and many of the public areas are filled with people either trying to make music or enjoying the fact they can make noise that nobody can ignore without silencing EVERYONE around them.

Voicing a request or opinion or discussion is what this forum is for. Perhaps you're the one making problems out of nothing?

As a matter of fact I hate most ingame music. Thankfully there is an option to mute JUST the music.

What people want is an option to mute JUST the performances w/o muting other sounds too. Given that the majority has no aptitude for musical performance and the fact that community areas are filled with dissonant plonking, I don't think this is an unreasonable request at all.

Are you talking about the actual animation? Yeah that looks weird.
Real harp players can play WAAAY faster that FF-XIV processes note commands though.

just tell them to pluck off

the heart of the issue, as someone stated earlier, is that this is new. we don't need an option just for bards. i mean, anyone could spam an emote near you and annoy you just the same. if you want to prevent people from harassing you, by any means, then that is the correct option; it's already in the game

Well running through town today I found only a couple people strumming and they were actually good so.... /thread?

P.S. It's not any more annoying than people spamming abilities in town...

Only issue with it is there's no /command to initiate it and swap out your hot bars. Seems like a pretty major oversight and after seeing that lack of functionality I'd wager many will just drop it since a lot of us don't have spare hotbars for this.

A good work around is not share hotbar, make a new gear set for hotbars, then set up your 2, 3, or 4 HUD setting to what works for you. A lot of videos I've seen have it setup like a piano.

Most GM are from the same country as the main server , when some of them quit GM job , they keep playing the game normally , hell you be surprise how many GM have normal game character (with out power off curse).

yeah, i don't play bard, so i can use all my hotbars just for the notes. but someone who plays bard should have some trouble o.ô; wich seems a bit wrong, that someone who don't play bard can use the new exclusive feature for bard and a bard main doesn't xD
