Probably Cancelling My Subscription

After Stormblood hit I enjoyed it and then got bored after having done everything. So I got excited waiting for the new housing to release only to see that everything was gone within 10mins of patch. I'm sooo very upset, like I didn't really care much for everything else just wanted a new med house to work on. So I think I'm cancel as well.

No probably for me, did unsub. All content should be obtainable by legitimate means within the games' structure. Be it Mogstation or otherwise. Simply locking me out of content based on "first come first serve" is unacceptable to me for a subscription based service.

I agree with most of these comments. I been saving since i started playing about 3 years ago. I didnt even get a chance. I feel like all my play time has been a waste since my goal was a large house. And out of desperation i got stuck with a small plot in the mist. Im prolly going to let my sub run out and not play again till they have enough housing for he rest of us.

They ignored the outcry in 2.0. They ignored it again in 3.0. Safe to say they'll ignore it again in 4.0.

Yup I'm canceling soon as well, I was excited for the new area housing and new content was the cherry on top, but I can't enjoy what part of the content I CAN access.

Didn't happen the past 2 housing launches, despite people crying about it. The game has actually grown.

The trolls are quite happy.

Unsubbed. SE has 78 days to do something before my sub runs out and I don't reup.

Should be more than enough time to get all the new primal weapons and ultimate savage clear.

Posted this in another thread already; Check out the FFXIVHousingMarket subreddit- there is already people selling new housing plots at absurd prices. That's a kick in the groin for honest players- you can't buy a house but people are making ridiculous profits on them. Sickening.

Hopefully SE banhammers these fools hard, but I doubt they have the sense to do that.

1) Bahamut Ultimate is available to EVERYONE EVENTUALLY. EVERYONE. EVENTUALLY.
2) Housing is RNG. LUCK. Don't you get it mate? You can work your ass off and have 100mil and you won't get it. It is not available to 90% of the population

It is accessible. You just have to do it. Housing you can't have it once it is taken. Logic mate. Where is your logic?

Thats completely different since Ultimate does not have a limit itself..I am quite sure that people would be very angry if suddenly only 20 groups would be allowed to beat it at all and after that the content would be closed off..people can still try Ultimate, they just need enough skill. Housing should be the same but instead of skill it should just need Gil..

I got a small after lots of disconnects and anger but I surely lost a lot of motivation for the game...I really hope that the drop in sub is big enough for them to notice it and maybe finally doing something...if not: Please stop with advertising housing as some great feature of the game if you cant even give a big part of the players one.

Actually, it's an idiotic comparison. The only obstacle impeding players from Ultimate is their own abilities. All one needs do is advertising themselves and work through party finder until they get picked up for a static. Alternatively, they can attempt it later once they out-gear it. Housing, on the other hand, is entirely gone. There is no option to work harder or better prepare when a simple log in error can occur for anyone at complete random. It doesn't matter if people put in hours of dedication for 200M or bought said amount from RMT. Unlike Ultimate, houses just aren't there. Imagine if Ivalice released with an arbitrary gate that only allowed the first 15% of players through while everyone else were told "oh well."

That's how the housing system works.

I was salty the first 5 minutes but I guess I expected this tbh. And although housing is not the main draw for me in the game, I understand that for those it is, it may leave a sour taste. So I agree that stopping to play FFXIV is a good idea. I think there are a lot of other games that may seem more appealing if this is your main draw.

Gotta be honest, I feel the same way, and it KILLS me. I did everything I could, stayed up until 6am EST for my shot, got kicked from the lobby server, stuck in a queue for 20 minutes, and by then every last bit of it had vanished. Now, I can only imagine how working professionals who couldn't afford to take this particular night to get this must feel. It was all gone in 20 minutes, an entire feature of the patch just...gone. It is enough to make anyone who actually cares about this sort of thing rethink their $15/mo.

Already cancelled mine, only subbed for Eureka and a house, but since I got neither of those two, I have decided that after October, I will be taking break for few months (might log in for the christmas event).

Most of what has just been them playing CATCH-UP. How many of the added/adjusted features (major or minor) were things that people went "Jeez, finally, about damn time"?

Housing as it stands right now is the biggest obvious elephant in the room, but the mentality is seen in every aspect of this game.

I can't say that I'll unsubscribe, because at this stage of the game, I'd be a fool to throw away what I've already accumulated, and I didn't ante up all my hopes on this. I will say that the handling of the 4.1 patch and the management thereof has been nothing short of abysmal. This is the first housing expansion we've had, and it went over like a lead balloon. Between server overload, first-come-first-serve, alts, and the basic failure of the housing system in general, the whole thing smacks of a real disconnect between the developers and the players.

As a poster further up said, it's soured me regarding my opinion of the development team, and I think a substantial number of players have the same opinion. After having purchased the expansion, to see this as the first real patch is... disappointing. I fear that if 4.2 is as deleterious as this one, I may have to leave instead of throwing good money after bad.

If they're going to artificially limit the supply AT LEAST make it expensive enough to go along with it. Years ago when housing was first released plots sat empty on my server for weeks and months after because VERY FEW people had the money for it. Now the cost of a large house appears to be pocket change for a very large amount of people. If you're not going to add more housing at least make housing costs more reflective of the actual supply/demand involved. 100-300M for larges, 50-100M for mediums, and 25-35M for smalls would be good ranges.

I think what did me in to consider unsubbing is that my friends daughter with a terminal illness stayed up all night to be faced with log in issues and less than 15 minutes later she couldn't even get a small house to decorate. This caused her so much stress she ended up in the hospital as her disease flared up crazy bad. Granted this is not SE's fault for her being sick or stressed out or whatever but it just opened my eyes that to some people this is a very serious problem. Those who can't go outside and go hiking and stuff like healthy people, this is their whole world and this is soul crushing to them.

Well, what they could have done to fix it was this:

~Only FC's can buy medium/large houses.
~Small housing is FC or private housing availability.

Hmmm I understand that SE wants housing to be rare. But I feel like it is either too rare or too cheap. One of those should've been different to balance offer/demand.

I've manage to get my housing this patch in the location I wanted though not my preferred ward/division. I actually had a fair amount of time to run around and be picky if I wanted but I was so worried I just went with the absolute safest option possible (ward 9 subdivision). But it came with a lot of preparation (rehearsed all my moves multiple times with post-its on my screen for dialog clicking positions and selection + confirmation macros I had made) and an uncomfortable amount of luck. And I feel like luck should not be a factor.

I updated the game overnight, then I was refreshing the launcher by going into world then back to the play button. I must've logged in within 20 seconds at most of the servers being back up, used the post-its on my screen to tell me where to click to log my character in even before things displayed on my screen. STILL got a server full message and a queue of 65. That's insane. I mean sure some people will be faster, have faster computers, or connections. but a full server worth. Crazy.

I actually had a lot more wiggle room once in game than I thought but only realized that after I bought my plot. Even now I still can't get over the fact I was queued in a full server despite all the prep. It was just insane.

SE, if your housing sells within the first 30mn of launch it's one thing. But if everything disappears in under 10 (I think all mediums and larges were gone within like 5mn on Faerie). Then you done screwed up.

Let us not forget 50% of the patch notes was housing related.

just did the math and just as an example (tho my stats may be out of date) there are 194 times as many characters on balmung as there are housing plots

balmung isn't the highest population server either

on something like brynhildr there are about 300 times as many characters as housing plots

when you start looking at these stats it becomes very clear just how fucked this supply is. its a drop in the bucket compared to the needs of the server

Server Ultros. I stayed up the ENTIRE NIGHT... Kept refreshing the lodestone every few mins or seconds and had my finger on the Log In button till 6am EXACTLY. Logged in took few seconds to load to character screen where i didnt even see my character then got in que... I was 624 in que. Took mere mins to log in but by the time I loaded in there was nothing but a few smalls left and not enough time to get to them before they were bought. This is a totally unfair system and Im looking for a replacment for FFXIV. Which is my first MMO and I fell in love with. Play even more than my bf. But having a large home was my only goal for the past 2-3 years. The only reaso. i have wifi is to play this game. So thanks SE for helping me to save money. Hey theyre like car insurence... I dont think making them cost more is going to help. And it makes it more unfair. Making gil in this game isnt easy for everyone.

Yeah, I'll let my subscription lapse after I get MSQ down and 24 man raid. I see no point staying subscribed working on crafters and gatherers to make money, coz there's nothing to spend it on other than minions, and glam doesn't do it for me.

I don't mind dumping 50 million in a house and crafting for it, at least it gives it a purpose. But I see no point staying subscribed between "patches" riding the markets to have a ton of gil and nothing useful to spend it on. Over 100 million in imaginary coin and nothing to spend it on in SE's make-believe land.

This is incorrect. Savage and Ultimate Savage do take skill, yes, but skill is something people can develop with enough dedication. Everyone has the ability to unlock, run, and successfully complete Savage and Ultimate if they put their mind to it; some people it will take longer than others, but everyone can do it. Housing, on the other hand, all boils down to luck. Not skill; not dedication; just luck. Earning gil in this game isn’t that hard. Doing MSQ and Sidequests give you plenty, as do Daily Roulettes, to purchase a small plot by the time you complete all of them. I know a person who doesn’t craft; he just sells items his retainers bring him from Quick Ventures and makes money. Crafting isn’t that hard to do either, even though the leveling process can be and is tedious. Same with gathering. But, I digress...

But, in the end, whether or not a person obtains a house is all down to luck. Were they lucky enough to be #147 in queue, or #1,470 in queue? Were they lucky enough to not get hit with a 5606 or 2002 error, or lucky enough to get multiple errors? Were they lucky enough to load just a millisecond faster than someone else, and click that Placard before the 20 other people rushing towards that same plot? It’s all luck, and it shouldn’t be that way.

~20% of the current playerbase will ever own a house; in reality, however, it’s even less, because one has to not only consider Free Company housing, but also individuals that own multiple houses on the same account. Less than 20% of the nearly 900,000 active characters will own a house. 100% of the active playerbase can unlock and access Savage. >20% of the active playerbase will ever access and own a house. Savage versus Housing is not an adequate comparison.

Considering that many people log in once every 44 days just to save their house, and then never log in again until another 44 days have passed, housing opening up is a rarity, and, again, it is all based on luck. There are two mansions on my server in the Lavender Beds. One is a personal, and the other is a solo FC with a level 1 character in it. They have been sitting there empty for well over a year. Empty. For well over a year. That is just ridiculous.

You were lucky enough to spy a free plot. Just like I was when I purchased my FC house. I literally just happened to look at the Lavender Beds wards and see a small plot open for 3mil. I booked it to that plot and managed to snag it, but that was after months of checking, and months of waiting. Why should players be forced to wait for housing because the developers are seemingly either ignorant of the demand, or just blatantly unwilling to fix this broken system?

This will literally fix nothing. The problem is that there are nowhere near enough houses. Not that they're cheap. Increasing the default prices would make house flippers sell at an even higher overly inflated price. Additionally this would exclude even more players from having the chance to get a house. More restrictions will absolutely not fix the housing issue. We need more options, not less.

It really sucks and is unfortunate that you didn't get a plot. But there are MANY MANY players that didn't get a shirogane plot but ALL had the same intent of logging in as soon as servers came back up to try and get a plot. I know saying "try one of the other housing districts like Ul'dah, Gridania, etc." is not something you wanted nor want to hear, I wouldn't either. But like the opening night of Star Wars there is a limited amount and not everyone will get to be apart of that experience. It REALLY sucks, but like any limited product this thing happens.

Sadly, the 20 min queue is not the real issue. We were 3 players from our FC trying to get a Shirogane house. We were pinging the servers to know when they would come online, we all entered with less than 200 players in queue (one with less than a hundred). We were in the housing ward in less than two minutes after the servers went online. Yet all the mansions were already taken by the time we could move in-game. This game is not missing a few more wards. The problem is much much bigger than that...

That's exactly how it is for me too, Eureka and Shirogane were the only 2 things I was looking forward to in 4.1, gonna take a break when my sub ends at the end of this month until 4.2
