But it's not the new player who bought the house. All they did was join an FC that had one. So sure, somebody in the FC has plenty of gil to spare. If it's a sizeable FC, then it's more likely several somebodies. But that doesn't mean that those players are available there to port their newest FC-mate around or to give him/her the gil to do so. Maybe they're not online when the new player is trying to reach the house or get back from it.

(I do agree about Return, though. It became an easily viable travel option a while back, when the cooldown was reduced to 15 minutes. This would be a much bigger issue if it were still 30 minutes long.)

They ARE talking about the FC that bought the house, not the player; and generally speaking, if they could buy a house, there's a decent chance they could set up a little fund in the FC chest to get newbies back to Eorzea; accesible by officers to help out the newbies until they get their own money (which, as has been said, isn't really hard; and a FC with enough money to get a house in Shirogane on release probably has enough money for teleports).

Also, the whole thing is moot since it's not even out, yet. For all we know, the NPC that transports you between wards and Kugane can just dump you in Limsa if you don't have SB.

Honestly, everyone should be using a security token. It keeps you safe and it gives you a free teleport location so I would highly encourage any new players to grab one. Especially since you can use the software token, it's pretty easy and available to everyone who has a smart phone (which is basically everyone) or a tablet. Just make sure to tell them that they should write down the emergency removal code for safe keeping just in case!

Return is always a backup option and while it's not ideal perhaps, if they really can't spare the gil then it's there and a 15 minute cooldown isn't that bad. That being said, just completing the ARR main scenario should give them easily around 300k gil. I think they'll be ok~

Neither of you are getting the point I was making. THE FC HAS MONEY. We know this. THE LEADER OF THAT FC (and possibly their top officer or two) HAS ACCESS TO THAT MONEY. I know that, too. But the new player DOES NOT HAVE THAT ACCESS.

Let's see if an example can make it clearer. A few months back I created a new alt on a different server, and for roughly a month or so was playing it actively every day. I joined an FC, socialized with the other members and ran stuff together with them. And I frequently hung out at the FC house, since I liked to craft there. In that entire month, I only once saw the FC leader online, and never saw the other officer (the only other player with advanced access to anything). It took more than a week and a half before I could even get a chance to ask for the orchestrion to be turned back on after a maintenance window's downtime reset it to off.

It doesn't help a new player for their FC leader/officers to have money available if that new player never encounters them, let alone has a chance to ask them for any. Even if the leader/officers are far more active and the new player does encounter them regularly, it doesn't mean they'll be there when the new player gets stuck at the house. What if it happens when nobody else from the FC is online?

For what you are saying to be an issue, they would have had to have 1: Used return within the last 15 minutes, 2: Have under 1000 gil (which isn't even possible for a new player as you are required to do some quests before you even have the option to teleport anywhere, unless they wasted it on something), and 3: They never set a favorite or a free destination. And even 4: No one is around to lend them this pitiful amount of gil. And even if someone falls into ALL of those categories, they'll be trapped in the housing zone for what? 10 minutes while they wait for their cooldown, at most?

Your worry is about something that has almost non-existent chance of inconveniencing anybody. It's a non-issue. Let this thread die.

This won't affect those of us who have been playing for a while but it will negatively impact all new players (unless they are given a direct exit to Limsa - which could be problematical too, as Limsa isn't immediately accessible unless you start there).
I'm hoping some thought has been given to this because retaining new players is not only good for FCs it's essential for the health of the game.

Once a player reaches level 50 they will probably have a good bit of gil saved and they'll have the chance to get Aetheryte tickets from hunts, but for the early levels getting to and from the FC house is either going to require players to wait around for Return to come off cooldown or is going to take a large chunk of their gil.

Using that logic, an FC-house in Mist would just be as problematic, wouldnt it?

Seriously, you people are making way to big a deal out of this... No one is going to be stuck in a housing area because of this. A ferry/exit to Limsa would be nice, but not having one wont be the end of the world either. The game throws enough gil at us, return has a 15 minute CD and free teleport tickets are a thing...

Actually, you only have to have done the first quest, Close to Home, which rewards around 100 gil, though most will certainly have done more than that. And the quest rewards only come once, while players might want to go to their FC house multiple times.

(And as I said, I actually agree about Return. I was only disagreeing with the argument that other members of the FC having gil solves the issue, since it doesn't if they aren't there to provide it.)

Its costing me 174 gil to go from Kugane to our FC-house in mist - thanks to our teleport-buff up, as other have mentioned, its 249 without one. Assuming this will apply in reverse, its gonna cast 249 gil to get to your FC-house in Kugane.
My character is now standing in Mist, checking the teleport-costs to other locations - 432 gil to go to Gridania, 295 to go to Ul'dah. Its currently more expensive to go from LN to Gridania than its gonna be to get to an FC-house in Kugane... thanks to return you wont have to pay to get back, I really fail to see an issue here - except we wanna make the issue "Teleporting is to expensive for new people!" out of it

And as I have stated, we are stating that this is an option if return did not exist. Technically you already can get yourself stuck, by starting in limsa, then spending all your money teleporting to the house in Gridania or Ul'dah. How does the new player without airship get back without return?

This is not an issue. Be glad they let your newbie friend come at all, because they could have easily locked it behind doing Sirensong sea to get to Kugane. But they didn't, because people whined and complained when HW had content locked behind it.

Why do people keep quoting me to talk about completely different points than I addressed?

I point out a simple factual correction regarding the number of quests needed, and get a reply about maximum teleport costs.

I disagree with just one specific argument about the rest of the FC having money and repeatedly get replies about Return taking care of the returning problem (despite the fact that I'd said myself Return takes care of that problem).

I've never said that getting back from an FC house in Shirogane would be a problem, though I did suggest a free option to get there in the first place would be nice. If after the five times I've said it before it's not clear yet, here it is again: Return takes care of new players' needs to get back to Eorzea after visiting an FC house in Shirogane. Why am I still getting arguments about that when I've never disputed it?

A point was brought up earlier that the FC itself has plenty of gil and that should be able to take care of any teleporting problems for new players. THAT is the point that I've disputed. But that point has nothing to do with the Return skill. It has to do with the difference between an FC having gil and a new player who just joined having access to that gil.

You're not understanding their point either, no one is talking about gil sitting in the FC chest where the new player has no access to, the point is ask any person who is online for 1k gil to tp out of the house, because people in the FC are bound to have more than 1k gil, if an entire FC can't spare 1k gil for a newbie then it's time to move on to another FC with people who are less cheap about pocket change.

If there are any new people on Leviathan that this becomes an issue for, please feel free to /tell me in game and I will give you enough gil to solve the problem.

I don't feel like this is a big deal. I've got a low level alt that hit 30k quickly from the first time Guildhest bonuses and the Challenge Log without ever attempting to make money (they're just at joining a Grand Company in the story). That's plenty to cover a few teleports as you start out the game.
I can't see running out of gil unless they do nothing but teleport to and from the FC house without progressing at all and even if they did that Return and borrowing money from FC friends are still options.

New players can also get 99 aetheryte tickets from the Recruit a Friend Campaign if they sub.

As it has already been said, in case of being stuck with no money: /return
It's a 15 min wait only at worst.

Return is free, and teleporting to the FC in Shirogane from an ARR area should cost around 250 gils. And then there is also Favorite Teleports cost reduction, and even Free teleport destination of those with Security Key.

So I don't think it will be an issue. It's just a temporary annoyance for low new level members would will probably not teleport as much to the FC house in their early levels. Fortunatly these low levels go fast.

It's incredibly astounding to see people like you and others blathering about "lol money gets thrown at you" and "it's not a problem, there's workarounds." For one thing, why such an arrogant push-back? How does this at all affect players like us who have played for years, in a way that it shouldn't be addressed? Why want the issue to die? What's the problem with a service within the game not penalizing new players? What's the problem with a service just working properly for everyone?

Once again, it doesn't matter what workarounds there are to the problem - it's still a problem! Returning simply to be in an area to teleport for less is clunky and time-consuming. Telling people to ask their companions to toss some gil their way is ludicrous. This thread was to bring up a legit concern, it doesn't matter how much money people can make or have, it's that so far they seem to have half a system in place and it digs deep into a new player's pocketbook just for wanting to enjoy the privileges of a company house? Who cares that you have a lot of money, who cares that you can "simply wait fifteen minutes" to use Return - you shouldn't have to.

Here. Let's pretend nobody in the fc ever logs in. You have return. Can't get to the house because you're broke from constant teleport? Boo hoo, player's gonna have to learn there's a payment for being able to teleport across a world. This isn't like other games (Looking at you Skyrim) that gives you a world and just says, "Teleport without any costs." You can't just baby every little thing a new player looks at.

And honestly, if a new player manages to spend every gil they have that early, they are horrible at money management. It's not a secret that in the first ten levels everything can seem expensive. That is the point of it. Why don't we make vendor gear free? Why don't we make ship rides free? Why not make mats free so the poor newbie can make his sword? Clearly players needing to learn money is terrible, right?

Calling it a non-issue or telling people to just do this or that is ludicrous. All of the proposed workarounds don't address the core of the actual problem. If Square was the one telling people this kind of junk in regards to a concern, people would be understandably annoyed. Look at when they took away Sustain, and said that summoners shouldn't need it. After all, you can just re-summon if the egi dies, and you have Ethers, Aetherflow, and Lucid Dreaming to keep your MP up, so whaaaaat's the prooooblem~? It's a non-issue right? Just because there are workarounds doesn't make it a non-issue, not if those solutions are not ideal. So again, what the heck is the problem with actually fixing that problem so people don't have to suffer with a less-than-stellar solution? Other than some veteran player thinking that newbies have it too easy and why back in the day Titan Hard Mode weeded out the bads and SKIP SOAR *grumble grumble* DPS LOSS *snore*

And there's more of the arrogant attitude. I never said anything about doing something to baby a new player, I just wanted to bring attention to the fact they a new player with an FC house in Shirogane is going to be at a disadvantage for a couple reasons that should probably be looked into. Heaven forfend the game doesn't screw new players over, either taking their hard-earned gil or making them shy away from the house and its amenities until they hit a higher level.

I think the OP is just an extremely considerate person. I had a friend once who, thinking about left-handed folks, asked for subway gates to have some gates with left-side slots for the tickets after observing the occasional momentary confusion when a left-hander instinctively slotted the fare card on the left side and the gate on the left opened. Practical constraints notwithstanding, the thoughtfulness is endearing.

To OP, TWOXACROSS, it's certainly something for the QoL list. In the interim, we can consider having some faith that the community (FC) and perhaps humanity can overcome minor annoyances and help each other and / or adapt :)

Thanks. Yeah, there's things we can do in the meantime, as is the workarounds people have mentioned, but ideally that shouldn't be the solution. Hopefully Square has thought about this, and just hasn't bothered to mention it because it's not as exciting as the other new features. I could see them having a ferry that takes people back to Limsa Lominsa for a negligible fee (as most ferries have), because at least it gets them back to Eorzea without any sort of expense or time-related constraints.
