i love cute and small thing so...lala is my best answer :D
First: they're small and cute, I like the aesthetic for my caster/healer Jobs, and it looks comical when I have to tank. Second: I find it's a good ice breaker when meeting new/shy people. I can run up, emote some and just start chatting with them. I couldn't do that when I tried miqote or elezen lol. Well, I could do it, but it wasn't received as openly. People just aren't intimidated when faced with a lala, makes it easier to make friends tbh. Also I don't get creepy pervs bothering me all the time the way they bothered my catlady.
Edit: Also there's an odd sort of camaraderie amongst other lalas. I dunno how to explain it, it's just something that's there then you meet and hang out in game. I feel more lonely when it's not there lol.
I'm not sure of this either. People would argue about gnomes being too small to tank in WoW and others would bring up your point.
It all comes done to an optical illusion regarding the size of the gnome versus a big creature. Things look more intimidating when you're tiny but logically that extra 3 foot in height would not affect the combat at all.
Anywho... Yasuhiro was just expressing her thoughts regarding lalafell. Let's not get bogged down because that viewpoint differs from your own. You both like being a lalafell. That's the important thing here.
Because you can do this

The lala walk animation is amazing. Especially if you walk while sprint is active.
Damn, this thread is making me want to go back to lala (again). XD I tend to fantasia every so often, and I've been a lala twice now. I loved it. They're adorable and cute and people do respond differently to you, giving you random /pats and such.
Sometimes I think I should go lala permanently but I always end up missing my beautiful duskwight. ^^
Wow! All of the answers are so deep, and you make me a proud lalafell.
Question: Are we the only race that gets excited when there are 4 of us in a light party?
I love it when I queue up for a dungeon roulette, and am surrounded by 3 other lalas. I'm not sure if any other race gets that excited. It's like we have an unspoken understanding or something. :)
The reason I play lalafell is because I love playing a small character that is powerful. I originally wanted to play a caster and all robes look amazing on them. Even though these days I play tank for my raid group a tiny tank is adorable too. We also look the BEST in the moogle attire.
*waves* We should hook up sometime! I love all lalafell PotD runs! In addition, I have a dream. A dream to get to the 200th floor of PotD and earn my pumpkin with at least three lalafell in the party. Only my health issues have kept me from attempting this. (I suffer from severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I peter out of energy. *sigh*)
Hahahaha! So true! I feel the instance runs I’ve had with a 3 or 4 lalafell are some of the most fun duties I’ve had. We talk, we laugh, we destroy everything opposing us, & we laugh some more. It's a great time.
*nods vigorously* People love to sit and chat with me. It doesn't matter which lalafell I'm on. However, folks are slower to respond when I'm playing my midlander. We are so small and cute which means the stranger danger reflex doesn't kick in.
The camaraderie is definitely there. I believe it's because there is a common ground between us all.
Every time I turn back to a lala is because I am one IRL.
I'm small, fat and have a bad temper ^^"
I think only lalafell and rogedyns get excited when it's a unirace party. I might be wrong though. It would interesting to hear other player's opinions on your question.
I totally get what you say about an unspoken understanding. Ha! So much fun being with my fellow lalafell! It's barely organized chaos! Wheeeee!
I used to get excited when I got paired with other male elezen aswell (back then when Vidu was a male elezen) - but probably for different reasons... more like "Aaah, other people have good taste aswell!". More like a gracious node than /happy-emote spam.
As FemRoe now I'm happy to get paired with other FemRoes too - but I also love getting paired with 3 lalafell. Makes me feel like mama duck and her ducklings... or a kindergarden-teacher. I always need to withstand the urge to ask them to hold hands, follow me in pairs and be nice to each other...
Lalafells always bring a smile to my face. They have the cutest and funniest emotes. It's always great seeing one in duty finder. I'm honestly thankful for all the people who play Lalafell.
Not exactly the same, but....
I find it exciting whenever I'm surrounded by an all party of anything besides midlanders and miquotes (both genders) and female aura. Granted, my main is a midlander now, but I certainly pay much more attention to my fellow's details when it's not one of the carbon-copy-everywhere races. Lalafells are my favorite, as it's like I'm taking the children out to get ice cream, haha. I cannot help but smile.
Seeing groups with majority taller lads and ladies is also great, especially Femroes and Elezen. Combined with being among the rarest, they tend to not have as many "flavor of the month" glamours and look further unique as a result (from my experience).
My lala main eventually became my alt, but things may turn back around some day.
Long story short: FFXI Opening Video showed a bunch of Tarutaru Black Mages casting a Blizzard spell > Made a Tarutaru > FFXIV came out > Wanted to make a character with some kind of tie to my FFXI main > Lalafell.
Same. it was great though, we took a bunch of screenshots at the start and i think it made the mood high enough that no one really minded one of the players was... less than stellar.
I'm surprised it doesn't happen with my fiancé cos we're both lala but we only ever get 3 when queing together
Honestly, I prefer them simply because I smile a lot more when I'm a lala over any of the other races. They put me in a good mood.
Lalafells have a certain fun factor attached to them. I love them to bits, but had playing one ruined by an old FC.
I never correlated the fact no one in the tiny FC playing one was due to the leaders hating the race by concept, so when I logged in super excited by my new look, I was dealt a deluge of really uncomfortable baby body humor jokes. One leader openly admitted I broke his heart as my avatar no longer matched his feelings for me. I was a gross baby now that these guys couldn't have sexy fantasies about anymore and they pushed me out for it.
I was so traumatized I left the game altogether for a few months and started on an entirely new character when I came back, and I'm pretty sure this is why the jokes put on Lalafells (eating popoto people or punting them like little footballs) bother me so much.
Now, I'm so used to the camera angles on the tall races it's hard to swap despite how badly I want to give those old assholes a middle-finger and play the cute race.
I've never played an Lol-I-Fell but this game wouldn't be quite the same without them.
I am so sorry you went through that. Your former FC was full of jerks.
I know all about camera angles. My first character was an elezen and when I switched to lalafell it took me several days to get used to being so low to the ground. I had to adjust the settings to have less grass detail so I could see.
Now, I have trouble playing anything non-lalafell. The camera is too high! Go fig.
If you ever do try going lalafell, let us know in the "Show Us Your Lalafell" picture thread. You'll be welcomed with open arms.
I like being small and cute. ^^ I've tried other races, especially because I feel like playing a woman with a good physique will motivate me to do the work necessary to have a similar figure (lazy about working out) but it never feels right. Also I like having smaller mounts and our emotes.
It's oddly satisfying being the only lalafell in a group, I guess because I stand out so much being so tiny.
Just a hint for people having problems with the camera angle: You can adjust the angle from the game settings so that the cam isn't on the ground when playing a potato. I have my cam quite a bit higher than default.
I have always been playing short characters in games. Dwarfs in Lineage II, Hobbits in Lord of the Rings Online, Dwarfs in Rift. So naturally Lala is my number one race in FFXIV.
Lalas have best animations, emotes and are generally funny and cute. It always makes me smile when I log in and see my character. ;)
It's the only race I find fitting of the whole caster/healer job.
Lalafell are Hydaelyn's chosen people. Do we really need another reason?
I like to compare Lalafells (tiny adventurers) with the battle sprites from original FFs (also looked tiny). ^^
Similar thing happened to me. My first FC's leader absolutely despised lalas. Being that we were also a roleplaying FC, I was excluded from most of the events because of it. I still loved my lala and eventually left with another lala friend, who was the only other lala in the FC and we did everything together because we were shuned by others. I'm currently in a very good FC that loves lalas, so I'm happy here. But the first experience did get me a bit defensive at all the lala jokes.
I am so sorry for what you guys went through. That is so disgusting. I know people joke about lalafells, but I didn't realize some people went that far with their dislike of them. The leader who had his "heart broken" because you changed race....there's so much wrong with that I can't even begin. And being excluded from fc events just because you play the race you want to play is so messed up.
Honestly people should play whatever they want to play. And people who get upset or mad about others playing a certain race seriously need to get a life and a better grip on reality.
It is so sad that racism even exists toward fictional races. Racism, in and of itself, is ugly; but to go one step further, and be hateful to people because they chose a particular set of polygons in a MMO is beyond the pale. The whole concept makes my heart cry.
Anyhow, let's get back on topic. Why do you play a lalafell?
Oh, I missed this sorry! You have to use the link that has the file type included. In your case, https://imgur.com/JSA2G8r.jpg
I'll post the glam project for you. Great outfits!

As much as I tend to joke about Lalafell, they always tend to make me smile with the emotes/actions they have. Though I wouldn't wish this sort of treatment that happened to you. Sounds like they either took their 'character' very seriously or they're just really unpleasant to hang around with, probably the latter if it ended up making you leave. I'm glad you're doing much better now though.
What's even more shameful is that no-one else in the FC called out the leader on that behaviour, and tolerated it... well in both FCs really. I'm really sorry Amatrine and Aronys you were subjected to such treatment, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Kacho, I definitely agree that playing Lalafel does keep you feeling young :D I will post more about it later, left time really short.. again!
Zoloft doesnt brighten anyone up it just bluntens mood, not even numbs it just constricts the extremes both ways.
The only thing Zoloft and Lallafels have in common for myself is neither will ever give me a boner.
