The mobs became a lot harder to get by with patch 1.19 actually. For example the crabs would look at you for like 10 seconds before attacking pre1.19, but now they attack without any warning. But now they're easier to avoid.

Hello, fellow adventurer.
The topic title caught my attention for the word “explore”, being exploration something that not everyone can appreciate.
Before landing in Limsa Lominsa, I had decided that in Eorzea I would have been an Explorer, so I'd like to answer you sincerely.
First of all, no True Explorer ever say the word “impossible”. :D “Impossible is a word coined by the weak.”, so says a certain Chief Admiral.
I spent one month in La Noscea before taking the ferry and reaching Thanalan for the first time, and I did it because I liked that region so much. I never particularly cared about the copy and past areas: focusing only on exploration and immersing myself in Eorzea, I didn't notice it (I know not everyone can understand this).
Yes, I got all the Aetheryte Crystals and Aetherial Gates of La Noscea in my first month in Eorzea, and I still remember how hard it was to reach Moraby Bay (now a piece of cake...). I did it because I wanted to, and it was very fun and rewarding.
After moving to Thanalan and later in the other regions, I purposedly “saved up” some Aetherial Gates, so that I could explore little by little.
And every Exploration was an Adventure for me.
I reached all the Aetheryte Crystals and Aetherial Gates before patch 1.19 all by myself: I wanted to do it with my own strengths, be it Explorer's skills and strategies (like Sleeping Potions in a few occasions), at my low level, no Quickstride, no Stealth and no chocobo's aid.
Personally, that was my big Achievement.
Exploring to me also means stopping and admire a beautiful panorama.

Also, reaching places like the Gelmorra Ruins and Proud Creek (WHY did they remove Grade 5+ nodes, sigh...), as an adventurer interested in the story of Eorzea, made me wonder what their history might be. In patch 1.20, Millith Ironheart in Buscarron's Fold gave me some tidbits on the first place, and that's the type of stuff I like.
Thinking that “It's impossible” or “You need other companions to commit suicide” or “You can't do it without cheating” (and I assure you that I tried to “cheat” on a Doomsvoid Guivre showing my Subligar and I got Caudal Spined nonetheless!), is not a good Spirit to start.
If you really want to explore Eorzea you need passion and patience. :) If you feel like, I can suggest you pay a look at this journal entry of mine, that sums up my exploring endeavors:
- An Explorer's Journey
Turning Leaf, the hardest Aetherial Gate to reach for me, that took me a total of 10 hours (not straight, of course), is now reachable in 10 minutes. That is not what a True Explorer would like. I want the challenge. And that's why I requested more contents for explorers in this Topic here.
In my opinion, more difficult challenges is what we explorers should aim to, not easy stuff (Yoshida-san, hear me!).
So /cheer, adventurer, and don't give up on exploration yet. ;)
I remember solo running to Mor Dhana via Coerthas on my level 15 class during beta without any problems... and people complaining about level 70 mobs? Pfft.
I've been able to run behind hogs and not get any aggro(though could just be very hard of hearing xD). I even did it just yesterday when me and a friend went to Snakemolt. After I got the crystal we went again cause he had died and we got to it without taking any aggro from mobs taking the southern path to the crystal. Afaik all mobs can be avoided if you just have patience and move around them carefully. I've gotten many harder crystals since 1.19 all it takes is patience&perseverance. Things like chocobo/protect/stoneskin/sentinel can help but sometimes won't matter it's far better to avoid aggro then rely on them.
My biggest problem with exploring isnt that the mobs are higher level
its that they are so high the areas arent meant to be naturaly accessed because of it
we dont need mobs above level 65 in the game! hell even 65 is high at that, we wont have content for those ranges for who knows how many years so really what is the point of stuff being that high right now.
It was 1.18, not 1.19 where Efts and Crabs started to agro instantly instead of sitting and "watching" you.
This made Turning Leaf the most difficult node to get in the entire game, where Pre-1.18 it was rather something of a walk in the park.
Oakwood, South Bloodshore, and Last Hold were the other 3 difficult ones (honestly every other node besides these 4 was a cake walk in 1.18)
I remember getting South Bloodshore with a train of 11-15 L70 crabs on me. I was abusing Deflection/Aegis Boon to basically run through them as there is roughly 40-50 of these crabs you must make it through for that node... If I knew the walk trick it probably woulda been a lot easier X.x;
Oh I got every node solo in 1.18 (check my lodestone history, I get 40ish nodes within a week's time). But almost all of them are infinitely easier 1.19 and currently with the addition of chocobo's as many times you can just ride past mobs and they won't attack you since you are so far past.
Please don't change mob levels, getting nodes is one of the most fun activities in the game.
Testing it a bit more, it seems the aggro radius of the true sound mobs, like the boars, is a bit less than sound mobs. It is possible to sneak past them if they are all the way to one side. Also I should add that if you do aggro boars, you may be able to escape them since they don't have a ranged attack anymore.
tried walking? some mobs don't detect/aggro while you walk, and most have narrow vision.
Some of the nodes need to be harder. We do need the easy ones so that people can get used to avoiding the mobs and stuff, but some are pathetically easy. Five Hangs, 'nuff said.
I tired to walk past a dragon thingy out side of Ul'dah at level one......one shot me for 9999 and broke my gear. No way you could walk past them.
On a side note, do things attack you when you are on a Chocobo or is that my timer running out at unfortunate times.
I have better luck with drakes by walking almost over their tail.
I completely agree with you! I really like exploring Eorzea, and I had lots of fun with it, mostly thrilling and excitement! I really like La noscea and black shroud, I also went to Galmorre Ruins and took a lots of SS :p I also remember that sylph temple in Eastern shrouds too :D
I think that most of the peoples can't realize that there's more to the world of Eorzea than it seems :D nice to see you and The stuff you posts are really cool! (exploration, adventure, etc)
P.S
Exploring on Chocobo slows you down actually. (against mobs of much higher level than you) and I agree on Turning Leaf lol, it was the last node I got before 1.20 came (Did it a few hours before it came) it was really difficult to get there. After the patch came in(I was still there) I was surprised that all the guivres, efts, and boars turned into mushroom shriekers lol...
You can walk past every Drake and Salamander in Gridania and Coerthas area, you can walk past any Crab and Salamander in Limsa Lominsa area and the only tough one to get in Thanalan is Dragonhead.
Use Decoy-Sentinel to get past Float Eyes and Bombs ON CHOCO, walk-run behind the Raptors and the only random enemies left that can get in your way are Boars - Hogs and 2 Malboros.
You get past them with patience (wait till they get out of the way).
I got most of my gates in 1.19, its doable solo, nuff said thank you.
/end Thread
Agreed quit yer complaining and learn the game. All gates are easily obtained solo. Especially since the last patch.
Great, I can now avoid aggro towards getting The Isle of Umbra....but how do I actually get that gate? I'm runnin' in circles trying to figure that out :(
Two updates
1) Walking in water will not aggro the sound mobs. I walked through a goddess girdle while in the water
2) The aggro range of true sound (boars, morbols, etc.) mobs is the same as sound aggro mobs when you run, but the range is reduced when you walk. I walked past a morbol without it aggroing me, but when i started to run away from it, it aggroed me.

I got all atherytes way before 1.17 was even out. Trust me, you're not missing anything besides the achievement. The areas all look the same, the monsters all look the same as well. No variety. Found maybe 1 or 2 spots where I was shocked by the view in the entire game.
I am currently 1 node away from having attuned to all of them. All i can say right now is getting to Snakemolt is a total pain in the ass. The main reason being how many pugots are down in the area and there tendency to hang out with raptors.
Likewise. Got them all alone. Many mobs are sound, notably drakes and crabs. Just be patient and smart. Sometimes they can be facing frustrating directions, but trying to bolt for it usually nets you charging headlong into MORE mobs that will aggro as well. There's a warp exploit? What does that even mean? I really don't think something like that exists, and even if it does there's no reason to try and downplay someone else's success over your failure.
I am also curious, the only thing that I could think could even be considered an exploit is the fact that if you lag (like me) you can choco to a point without seeing a single mob because the server response is so slow that by the time the mobs "spawn" and prepare to detect you... you're already long gone :P
Be patient, hug the walls when you can and be attentive to the enemies around you.
For Snakemolt & Lichenweed in The Black Shroud, I had one person with raise accompany me and we made it that way.
Edit: Also, the mobs on the paths of Snakemolt do take a short while to load in - usually not long enough for you to reach a safe, mob-less area, though.
Have you walked into each zone?? If you have, then you have seen everything.
I got that one the other day, it took me 30 tries :( You have to get really lucky with it, I took the top path, buffed fully before going on it, and gunned it with a chocobo until you hit the bottom right part of the X section. Waited on things to move, and then headed toward the left hand of the X section. I waited at the little crevice there, and got lucky the pugot finally moved in the circle area, I was able to move all the way south.
I got close another time too, the pugot near the end moved into a crevice, but i got aggroed by the freaking raptor and died -_-;;;;;;;;;

For anyone that didn't already know, you get to Scorpion Keep from the cavern close to Camp Horizon.
Not knowing this, I went to the lower level of Thanalan (where the Ferry Docks are) and went all the way around & through a tunnel filled with Puroboros that I didn't even need to go into.
Try to Walk or wait Day or Night... Pop changes .... and mobs have multiple type of aggro .-.
I have all Camps And Gates (some taken when i was lv19) other at lv50 with Decoy and Featherfoot as an arc.. other with only chocobo (goobbue and eft are too slow to hit you)....
nothing is impossible guys ^^
I just got South Bloodshore, Umbra, and Snakemolt. The walking trick works, and I am pretty sure I walked through water several times when I got south bloodshore. it would have been the edge of the water, so maybe that makes a difference since when the waves recede its just sand there. Thanks to the first person who posted that trick. I've spent so much time crafting I never knew you could walk past sound agro. I'm down to just two aethers and I have the achievement.
Pretty much what everyone else said, learn what type of aggro each mob has and you won't have to throw bodies to reach a node. I have only a few left (lol Snakemolt) mostly because i didn't invest enough time waiting to sneak by or because SE trolled me and gave the Guivres some weird aggro type which seems to be "range aggro", because i walked behind it and it still sensed me.
Yea the Guivres suck... Anyone have any screenshots of that place north of Lasthold or w/e? I probably could've got there if I used the Dread Spike trick but I just moved on to the next set of nodes I needed instead.
If you press x on the keyboard so that you are walking you can walk right pass sound aggro mob ex. (drakes, crabs, jellyfish, trees from the new moggle fight area.) and sight aggro mobs like boar and raptors you can just walk behind them. I got all of crystals using these two methods.
