If you don't like Multiplayers. Stop play.
MMOs are time consuming games by definition. And this game has more solo content than any of them, except XI after it was nerfed enough to make everything soloable due to lack of players. If you want solo dungeons, wait a few patches when they'll implement Adventurer Squadrons to help you.
"I'm impatient, so turn this MMORPG into a single player game!"
If you don't want to have to do things with other people, there are plenty of games with no multiplayer capabilities whatsoever. Play one of those instead.
Not to mention we've already seen the issues that arise when people don't understand their class due to leveling it via ulterior methods. A few people in my FC always cringed when they saw a Kima weapon for example and were rarely pleasantly surprised to see that the person actually knew what they were doing. More often than not the player did not understand the class at all, but was still trying to do progression anyways in spite of that lack of knowledge. That isn't to say people who spammed PoTD or even PVP to get their level are lazy or incompetent. Just that when they do get lazy, it's VERY noticeable. Especially if they're a healer or heaven forbid a tank who isn't willing to learn after getting their levels. Likewise with this expansion we've had the boost potions and the complaints against them have been fairly steady of likewise people not understanding either how to play their job or even work with a party at all. I can only see Adventurer Squadrons as having similar results, sadly. Perhaps even worse because at least in PoTD you are interacting with other people so you can get SOME feel for how the dungeons and other content might operate and how to work as something of a team. SE's rather piss poor AI doesn't endear any hopes that that will be the case here, at least for me. (Unless they're programmed like in the 70 SCH quest, in which case I'd have more faith.)
OP is nothing but a potion jumper that wants instant gratification, he doesn't even know he is a tank ffs. Spare me, that#s what you get when you open a can of worms. Thanks a lot SE
They'd have to retune every bit of instanced content with the MSQ to be handled solo, and doing that for all classes would be a LOT of work.
A better bet would be to just create a party finder party looking for a tank or just /sh in a major city seeing if there are any tanks who'd be up for a run through it. Most dungeons take less than 20 mins so I don't think it'd be that bad.
Also, as others have said, make friends and have them queue with you as a tank while you do the same for them if/when they need it.
No but you can easily become one.
First of all, as you have already been told, Roleplaying game =/= roleplaying but rather describes an immersive setting where the game treats you as if you were your character, like Skyrim, which is undoubtedly a rpg but the most roleplaying the average player does there is probably playing through their adult mods.
Now, as for the multiplayer part, while it is indeed not necessary to force group content onto players, allowing everyone to solo play their way up to raids would be a huge waste of server space. Most people don't even do raids, so dungeons and trials are the standart group content, and if you let players do those alone you might as well give them a single player rpg with chat and maybe a lobby to meet up with others. I know that there is other MMOs who allow this, but the thing is that ffxiv has decided their way of handling things, and introduces players to this early on when you get three dungeons in a row starting as early as level 15.
I am not denying that there is a problem when dps have to wait 40 minutes to even get into a dungeon, but at the same time, when those very dps know they could not only switch role but simply ask a tank or healer if they can help them out, but refuse to do either of those, and focus on complaining about their wait times instead of even thinking of leveling a crafter or gatherer to spend the wait, there isn't really much to be done to help you with.
Why do people walk into MMOs expecting to do story from start to finish SOLO?
ITT: spending 45 minutes to an hour in a video game (assuming a 20 to 30 minute DPS queue and equivalent for the dungeon) makes you a neckbeard no lifer.

Imagine if this game didn't have PF/DF and you had to sit in cities to /shout for groups. Count your lucky stars.
Work almost 60 hours per week. Finish my MSQ in 2 weeks. I think its bareable without any issues. Can do something else while queue ing for dungeons. Or ask friends or setup a pf for it. Im sure they're others need willing to help.
If you're wasting your time in queue, that's on you. The game gives you tons of things to do while in queue, so that the time spent is not wasted. A few examples:
- FATEs
- Quests
- Beast Tribes
- Hunts
- Crafting
- Gathering
- Fishing
Whenever I queue as DPS, I'm almost always in the middle of something when my queue pops. No time at all is being wasted.
As a bonus, many of these examples provide decent amounts of exp, reducing the number of queues you'll have to deal with in the future!
While I don't have a problem with there being a solo path of progression of some sort, at best I can see it following the WoW model. You can reach the level cap and access all open world areas via questing, but the real meat of the story is still going to be in dungeons and raids. You're not going to kill the expansion boss in some solo battle for example. You're also not getting access to the highest item levels of gear. If that's what people want then more power to 'em. It's no skin off my nose. But if they want solo access to what requires teamwork then no I can't get behind that.
Someone wasn't around when Rogue/Ninja dropped :3
Go play single player RPGs. What goes on in the mind of someone who joins an MMO and wants to avoid all group content?
I'm thinking the character the OP has showing is an alt...unless they really did buy collectors editions for all three(ARR, HW, and SB). Looking them up, by that character name shown, shows they have Fat Chocobo, Coeurl, Griffin, and Syldra mounts.
This is the same person who was complaining about FATES impeding their quests.
They are either a) the least-suited person to play MMOs ever, or b) a troll.
At this point, as a result of the super inflammatory and stupid posts / titles, I am inclined to believe the latter. If it is the former, I highly recommend uninstalling if you are having issues with such trivial nonsense.
I mean, it is at heart an Asian MMO, and Asian MMOs generally expect you to grind your butt out. GW2 is less grindy and the combat is much more fun.
Or come to PvP, we are always in need of fresh meat. :o
Why complain about playing with other players in a mmorpg? I get it, waiting a long time in a queue, because of your role sucks, but this is how it is. This happens in all mmorpgs, a issue that as of now has still not been resolved.
My advice, go play single player games.
Older content is a real issue though, even as a tank or healer and a dps friend you can face queues up towards an hour. That is just silly really and yeah, skip-potion, of course, of course.
Thing is he's a lv60 Pld so he has no reason to be complaining about queues as he most likely doesn't even have them.
My guess is since he probably just bought the game and boosted his character to level 60 he doesn't like how the game is.
As you can see he has nothing else leveled so yeah my guess is that he paid for the instant 60.

Sooooo OP joined the game, paid for 60 and now makes threads to cry about having to actually DO SOMETHING to get to 70.
Poor baby. *rolls eyes right out of her head*
Yeah this reeks of level boost, especially considering the armour which, I believe, is point for point given as a standard when you level boost (only thing I'm not sure about is the rings)
No wonder OP is complaining about having to DO STUFF, when they're one of those people who willingly paid extra to skip content

Dear SE,
Please do not make this Massively Multiplayer Online game any more single player than you already have. Thanks!
KL
huh.
I've got a life, a full time job. a girlfriend w/ kids. I don't live in a basement, and I don't have a neckbeard either.
and somehow, 20 minute DPS queues don't seem to be that big of a deal for me, if it means I get to play the class that I actually enjoy. tons of things to do while I'm waiting.
go figure.
