Forcefully move people out of Balmung (and other insanely congested worlds)

Lock character creation but allow transfers, then ever so often try to get people off, open transfers again, later try to get people off again, then allow transfers again...

Genius from a business point of view - at least, as long as the customers are playing along.

I hope that SE has been working on a free company housing transfer system, It seems like that will be part of the new housing in Kugane. When people can take their FC housing with them is when this will be solved. There is stuff you can't get back if you use the current system. rare crafted items attached to the FC and housing. time invested in all the parts.

The ultimate solution would be to split the server into new ones. people would have a windows of time to pick which server they want to goto. only the people on balmung could goto the new worlds for balmung.

or better yet, new sub balmung worlds. when players go to login to Balmung, they would have to pick which sub world to be transfered too. balmung itself would be in a holding state for transfers to these new sub worlds. all their stuff would transfer to the new sub world where it was before.

Simply split the server into 2. Create 2 new worlds and in 1 week have everyone choose between the 2. Whichever world fills up the fastest the rest will go to the other world.

SE would need to figure out how to transfer a player's house with them instead of just losing it and refunding gil. Pretty sure this is a big reason for most that own a house that keep them from transferring.

SE already plan to add more cross realm features (FC, LS and perhaps even a shared market for "small" servers). If they do that the reasons to play in a massive server will no longer be valid and in fact you will be hurting yourself. To me is the best solution long term.

Anything else is a temporal measure, even if they "kill" Balmung people could create a new one in a few months, they almost did just that with Omega.

I respectfully but strongly disagree. CRZ was one of the worst features ever implemented into WoW imo. It was a buggy mess Blizz threw together because they did not want to merge the nearly hundred of dead servers and it failed massively (eventually resorting to their "connected realm" which were merges in everything but name.) It only punished those on lower pop servers while giving them none of the benefits of higher pop ones.

Furthermore, there are many players who deliberately choose lower populated servers because they don't want the world to be filled to the brim with other people running around, especially if they can't meaningfully interact with them. I'm all for SE continuing with features like cross world PF but cross world zones would be awful. One of the many reasons I quit WoW was because of CRZ.

One of the incentives (unless I'm mistaken) is that you are refunded the entire amount of Gil for your house plus an additional 3 million for unremoveable furnishings. Just buy a new house.

Stop blaming each other and blame the company. It's their game, their servers, and OUR money.

Offering players incentives to leave is a good start, but in no way can they make it mandatory for them to do so. This isn't Nazi Germany. It's like offering a lump sum of money for someone to move out of their family house that has been there for generations in order to put up a fast food restaurant and then getting upset when they refuse.

They know how many players are on their servers and they know how many people bought the expansion.

The point is quit bickering with each other and stand United to the company that is at fault here.

That's a load of garbage, there's tonnes of open plots on Mateus still (My ward alone in the Goblet has 5 open spaces), and the apartment housing is barely even touched.

On a side note, a lot of us Balmung residents who've swapped server get a tonne of hostility off the 'natives' ("Balmung turds go home" "Stop shitting up our server" etc), which is something else to think about. People seem to want players to move away from Balmung, but nobody wants those players on their server

That sucks to hear. I joke about wanting Coeurl to stay small and whatnot but I'm never serious. WHY exactly is it popular to hate on Balmung and its players? Why does OP care about Balmung server issues?

I am sick of people on other servers talking about Balmung. You cannot and will not tell us to move. You leave that to our server.

Where? Even Mateus has apparently filled up. There are no houses available. I am also sitting on several million and can make gil hand over fist without much effort. Gil isn't an incentive for me. At least not to transfer off my server. I also did some research and many of those smaller servers have a paltry PvE community. Yes, I know it could grow if people joined, but I am not interested in building one. I'm just not. I like being apart of an existing large community with active hunters, raiders and casual players.

None of this even factors in the roleplay aspect, which I also fancy. While I wish Mateus well in establishing themselves, I already have friends and connections on Balmung.

Yes, because we are all one collective hivemind who just follow the whims of a select group of people. If it were so easy to convince people to do things, we wouldn't have the political fighting we do right now. People on Balmung don't want to leave. You whining about it isn't going to make us suddenly want to.

At this rate the next suggestion is going to be something like a massive ERP hunt to keep Balmung population in check... xD

Just have every balmung player complaining about queue times or incentives to Transfer not being high enough forcefully transfer to a low pop server. The problem would be resovled in a week

A way to transfer houses/FCs would solve this in a better fashion. What would you do if you suddenly appeared on another server, with nothing but your gil and the items on your retainers/invo. No house, no FC, no friends/husband etc. It would be enough for me to quit this game.

Easier Solution.

Step 1: Announce that Balmung and the other high pop servers are being closed down.
Step 2: Allow free transfers to the new and low pop servers.
Step 3: Lock each new server when they have an ample amount of people (meaning queues are at worst 10 minutes)

Ban all Balmung players, delete they're characters, and suspend their SE accounts. Problem solved. /more sarcasm

the best solution is to ban all Balmung players from making complain threads on forum so they will start doing what they need to do and not tell us what others should do for them.

Seriously though, if they forcefully moved players, no one would feel safe and mass exodus of players would occur. This is Star Wars Galaxies grade of issues. Not to mention the sheer number of transfers they allowed in would amount to a masssive amount of money. They'd lose much more than credibility, the game would cease to exist if this idea was put into effect. It's that bad of an idea.

Let's take his idea and apply it to all the servers, see how smug you all feel then.

Why would you "deport" people who dodge the auto-logout rather than the people who actually complain about the queues? It's a bad suggestion either way and fortunately SE is a bit more intelligent, as their solution–bribing people to transfer–is working, even if not as quickly as some would like.

I can't say that is fair. This would be displacing people because they are unable to log into the server because AFK abusers. Why punish those who are not causing the issue? Displacing those who are abusing the system by AFKing would be most appropriate.

Pretty sure the person means someone who has been on Balmung for 6 months would be displaced far more likely than someone who has been on the server for 3 years.

Forcing people who PAID MONEY to transfer there would be a huge no-no. Unless they're willing to reimburse them their money (which they would never do), not gonna happen.

this would make SE lose so many people :p just wait until they release the ability to transfer fc's and fc houses. You'll see more people leaving as whole fc's make the jump to a new server :)
