Addressing the current Problems with the Dungeonfinder / Ex roulettes and Playerroles

No offense, OP, but that's completely to be expected.

Very, very few people at this stage are going to be max level AND finish the MSQ. And most of the very few people who have are going to be DPS (because it's most popular and it's the objectively best choice to level first with MSQ EXP).

Level another job while you wait for the rest of the population to catch up.

And therein lies the problem: That's exactly what the Dev team want Tanks to do and it's madness.

Rather than looking at their tanking meta and saying "Hmm, we didn't intend for this, but there seems to be a consensus that this is a fun way to run the class and, tbh, they're still being the focal point of the group so let's just roadblock some of those mass pulls and monitor." They went along the route of "Hmm, we didn't intend for this, let's adjust their kits and our encounter balance to make them play how we envision they should."

Is it their want to do this? Sure, it's their game but when you have a class so largely underplayed that's intrinsic to how your game runs in group play: It's dumb, ego maniacal and counter productive.

I feel like a huge chunk of players are quietly mumbling, "I told you so," since we knew the pool of healer and tank players would shrink and not grow without more variety.

I don't even have an issue with Samurai and Red Mage being DPS as the jobs they made are really fun. But that's a catch 22. Heavensward gave Dark Knight, a very appealing job that's a tank. One good job improved the tank shortage, greatly.

I also think that SE grossly underestimates the factors of job aesthetic and queue times playing a part in why so many players opt for certain roles.

How many tank and healer mains play tank and healer specifically for the faster queues? How many people do you know hate the gear that healers seem to always get? Stuff like that.

I do think it will improve as we get a little closer to 4.1 (especially since we can guarantee we will get some major job balancing), but we need to see the tank and healer role get the same attention as DPS.

I really don't get why they dropped such a large boot on SMN though now your mention it, it's not like people weren't playing BLM...

Ya know this "samurai should have been tank" sounds oddly reminiscent of everyone whining DRK should have been dps. Just an observation.

Exactly, it's 9 if we count EA, it's only been 6 days if we count actual release. I have friends myself who have been taking their time going through the story, 1 tanks, 1 healer, another with healing but also a dps. So odds are there are other people in said situation that are tanks/healers, they just haven't rushed to hit 70 for EX yet.
