The reasoning behind your statement is irrational. You took a cute aspect of Lyse's character and twisted it. There was nothing homosexual and erotic about Lyse hugging Alisae. But if you really want to believe so, then go on. Whatever floats your boat i guess.

I never said it was erotic I said it was gay. Not all that is gay is erotic.

So hugging other people makes you a couple now?

Seriously, Lyse thought Alisae could be dead. The hug was an expression of relief, not of anything else. If you had a good friend you thought might have been dead and you suddenly saw them alive, most likely (yes, generalization) you would hug them like this. Can we please not try to shoehorn in our own personal agendas into story scenes that already have a very obvious rationale behind them in the first place?

Disclaimer: I have nothing against the LGBT community and have friends who are a part of it. I do have something against the twisting of a perfectly normal situation out of context to fulfill a personal agenda.

Not gonna lie, I ship Lyse with every of-age female in this expansion. >///3///> ♥

I think Alisaie is 18 now. She and Alphinaud left Sharlayan for Eorzea when they were 16 (beginning of ARR) and assuming each expansion takes an in-game year, don't quote me on it though...

This isn't the first time Lyse has had good reason to assume a friend is dead. In fact, there was a pretty big thing at the end of ARR where it seemed like most of the cast died. She didn't seem as overjoyed when seeing them again as she did with her arms wrapped around Alisaie.

Remember that in ARR and HW Lyse was pretending to be Yda and had to maintain her sister's demeanor. In SB, she's more free to be herself and we're seeing that she's a lot less stoic than her sister was. We have several examples of this throughout the SB story where Lyse differentiates from the persona she was putting forth previously. It is entirely possible that Lyse is attracted to women, yes, but it's a huge leap from this one scene to say that definitively.

There's also the fact that Lyse is under more pressure now than she ever has before. As Yda, she was always a very passive character, going where she was told to go and doing what she was told to do. Now, she's making decisions and taking charge - when bad things happen, it's because of choices SHE has made. It's bad to think that a friend has died, but it's so much worse to think that a friend has died because you are the one who put them in danger.

It's not unreasonable to imagine that Lyse really needs a hug in Stormblood, even if she's never been the huggy sort before.

There's a difference between needing to hug a person and needing a hug. In that scene, Lyse didn't need a hug. She needed to hug Alisaie. There's a nuance to that.

I also appreciate that nobody doubts Alisaie being gay. Just whether or not Lyse is also gay.

Like many have said, I doubt it has anything to do with romance. Those kinds of friendships are common between girls and between people in general.
There is this mythical thing called "having a bond" with someone. Not to the extent of romance, but a very strong bond nontheless. I'm sure everyone has one friend they have hugged at least once, that one friend you'd take a bullet for despite that person being a bit of a jerk at times and so on.
I haven't gone much past that point, but that storypoint alone doesn't really make them lesbian.
Trust me, I have strong yuri goggles on my head at all times and they didn't pick up a thing from that scene.

I mean I ship them but to say that this is proof of wlw couple is a far far reach.

Honestly speaking you just sound like you WANT them to be a lesbian couple. You have yet to bring any proper reason and proof into this 'arguement' while simply pointing out that 'it is like that' over and over again.

Just imagine them beeing a couple, if you need that for your proper gaming experience, but don't make up stuff just so you can claim "There is diversity / LGBT represantation / XYZ in the game".

You are right, If I were hugging one of my closest friends after discovering they didn't actually die and held them tight and didn't want to let them go. I would be feeling overwhelming joy, relief etc as opposed to just feeling depressed and needing something to hold me. If someone saw that scene and assumed romance, well again, reaching.

2. Alisaie's first thoughts after that cutscene are about how Thancred said maidens find scars attractive.

3. Alisaie has Lyse stay somewhere safe while being comparatively fine with other friends putting themselves in danger.

4. When people take notice of this fact, Alisaie gets embarrassed and changes the subject.

I mean, the game never goes into detail about their sexual preference, so quite honestly they both could be gay, but to assume that they're romantically inclined to one another because of a hug is just dumb.

How is #2 speculation. We heard the quote from Thancred during like 3.2 or 3.3 and I provided a screenshot of that being the first thing she's thinking on post-cutscene.

#3 isn't different circumstances cuz it's literally the same event. Alisaie goes with Yugiri and Gosetsu to help rescue you, but says Lyse has to stay behind and doesn't provide a reason why. She just gets embarrassed and changes the subject.

I don't agree with them actually being a couple, but I don't really have any problem with people shipping characters.

I mean, hot person + hot person = hot couple doing sexy things, so no complaints there.

I think shipping only becomes problematic when people try to insist that the relationships are real and force those beliefs on others (including the creators).

I'm not forcing things on anyone. I made a thread thanking the game's creators for the inclusion and everyone else decided they had to post in this thread on their own.

They're the ones who decided a girl seeing things as an implied lesbian relationship would not stand and needed to be corrected.

The elf CHILD cares more about Lyse being safe because Lyse is important to the future of an entire country. You don't send key figures out to the battle field when their existance is more important for the cause.

Lyse hug the elf CHILD because she is a CHILD and Lyse probably feel like a mother figure.

I believe the devs have indicated that less than a year has passed in plot time. And no one looks any older, which is a pretty strong indicator as well.

On the other hand, since ARR launch it's been a little more than 75 years in game time, so technically everyone should be ancient now. :)

Wrong. Best estimates for the timeline is that from 2.0 to 3.0(given the official clue that 2.55 to 3.0 was a few days) its 1 eorzean month. Maybe a bit more. The time bubbles are weird. Alisaie is still 16, same as alphi, and every source says the same.

Like everyone else pointed out apparently only a year passed, so at best Alisaie and Alphinaud are 17 now. And I dunno how elezen age system works, I mean, when do child elezens become adults in their point of view?

Most say Lyse isn't 1.0 echo but we know that Ala Mhigo fell 20 years ago and she mentions that she couldn't have been more than 5 years old then. So... 25.
