Yea seen this comeing ,the whole point of early acess is essentually a stress test, and server load balanceing im pretty much knew this was going to happen anyways.

Dont need SE apologists either. Its their problem to fix and we as paying customers have a right to be upset and angry at the total lack of response, customer feedback, and simple foresight that would have prevented this. Say all you want but this is solely SE's fault and no amount of "But Im in the business its not their fault this stuff is haaaard!" will change that.
While I don't condone the lack of communication, the amount of people that think SE is sitting back with their thumbs up their asses rather than actively working on the problem is astounding. This is the game launch, they aren't going to suddenly stop caring about their product that they are trying to sell.
Early Access was a bonus for pre-ordering the game. It's like any other pre-order bonus in any other game. Some are physical in nature (e.g., you get a bookmarker, a pin, a plushie, etc.), while most are digital in nature.
In this case, this is a DLC for pre-ordering. This isn't WoW, where there were beta testing available for players to stress test the servers before launch. And since you don't seem to understand how MMO works, this isn't a brand new game. This is just merely an expansion, and as such, SE should've seen this coming from a mile away. If you want to know about their track record, in the past week alone, their reputation has tanked due to major problems with a mobile game (some of you may have heard) called SINoALICE (シノアリスー), which is directed by Yoko Taro (Nier:Automata), and they've probably had a total of maybe 30 hours of uptime over a whole week period in which the servers were crashing, congested and eventually taken down in at least 5 emergency maintenance.
Whoever is in charge of server operations and their network at Squeenix should be fired.

This shows how disgusting it was to make msq, I had to leave the game after expending 3 hours trying to enter in it. You get what you paid for, I guess. Everytime a friend of mine ask how the game is doing, I send this picture.
Lol im not the one sitting here whining about not accessing content. This literally happens to every MMORPG paid and F2P. To sit there and judge the rest of the game based on being locked out due to congestion is asinine in and of itself. You have the right to complain just as i have the right to call you a entitled brat.
I mean problems happens. But what is frustrating is that they are giving us the: wait and try again later treatment when there is obviously not enough instance servers for a normal flow of people to go through the main story quest. They aren't saying that they ll fix it and they are leaving it as is.
Well kid if you and the other person thinks the rest of the content beyond the congested one sucks then here's what ya do. - Delete your game and break the disk in half in a mad butthurt rage because you couldn't be patient enough to let them sort the issue out. There saved you time and wasted energy of getting pissy over congested day 1 content.
It's even worse now.
You wanted to do RDM while the MSQ resolves itself? Can't - There's an instanced portion that, instead of just booting you at Raubahn, will straight up kick you out of the server.
It's gotten to the point where the only thing I can do is FATE farm or grind Hand/Land but we'll be locked into going in an area we cannot access because of the MSQ bottleneck. I sincerely hope that they will reconsider MSQ bottlenecks in terms of area visiting in the future, so that at least we have other things to do while this happens.
Hey hon do you know how 1.0 was fixed? We didn't stay quiet like good little lambs. We spoke up about it. I dont care if you've worked at a IT firm, and i really could care even less as to what Squares excuse is. Why should we be? We aren't employees we are consumers. So how about you do everyone a favor and get off the **TECH SUPPORT** forums and take your disdain of our concerns somewhere else yeah?Quote:
Another word, the worst customers that aren't making things easier instead just full blowing up forums and pour oil into fires. Quit and uninstall games, good. Better for everyone, we don't need these people
I'm new to this game but I have played MMOs for a long time. I am very disappointed that an MMO would allow a customer base to sit around and wait for the product that is being paid for to become available. The problem of server congestion during new content is-or should be-an old and out dated problems. Analysts in companies such as Square Enix have literally terabytes of data (now spanning decades) that can be researched for patterns and predictions that might cause disruptions to its consumers. The fundamental foundation to any profit organisation is 'demand and supply' there is a reasonable expectation that if a consumer 'demands' with money a product than the business will supply it to them. I appreciate that Square are being very polite and seem to be sincerely sorry for this error but this could have been avoided with good business decisions - backed up with analytical research.
I also appreciate that the fan base are very positive and a lot of people are optimistic that the problems will be fixed once the surge of excitement wears off and the servers are back to normal capacity; however I feel that consumers being told to 'wait for the congestion to thin out' is a bit of a slap in the face. If this game were free then I could understand and accept it more readily but we are paying to play this game and as such, don't we deserve to be able to play? I also disagree with people that are saying it happens to every single MMORPG, this simply is not true, I can think of one off the top of my head which I won't mention and I'm sure there are many, many more out there. People who have such a blind and overly optimistic attitude make me wonder if they are trolling or have ulterior motives for their comments.
I wholeheartedly believe this could have been avoided and in this day and age server congestion should be considered a thing of the past.
This is a great game and I'm really enjoying it but to experience server congestion during my 'honeymoon period' of FF14 is making it very hard for me to warm to it further.
I'm not even able to connect to the server half of the time, and I am getting constantly DC'd every time I try to progress MSQ (I am level 30).
My two cents is this, I don't care that the issues are there BnS launch day was hella worse you were forced to be a Subscription user in order to log in, I don't care if the servers can't really handle the load, what I see as wrong is the lack of communication that's it a GOOD customer support/ It team would work together to have at least some form of answer that the community could hear even one as simple as "our servers are unable to handle the load we are doing our best to resolve the issue." Instead we are getting the silent treatment and a literal fuck off pleb. I just downloaded the game and purchased the ARR so me and my wife could try this game out together, we aren't so childish as to demand the problem get fixed but the lack of communication form SE makes them just as bad as Nexon America (which is garbage btw).
Here are some words for ANYONE who seems to think we as customers should shut our mouths: YOU are the reason consumers have no voice, the minute a corporation breaks trust sycophants like you rush to defend them. You have literally stifled the voice of the consumer when you have vast swaths of players quick to tell anyone who complains about BAD SERVICE to shut up and and delete their game. YOU are the reason game companies think they can charge 60 dollars a game, you have lowered the expectations on average for the entire gaming base with this TIRING RHETORIC about how we should give these RICH & COMFORTABLE devs our patience when we, the PEOPLE WHO PAY THEIR SALARIES have the RIGHT TO DEMAND ABOVE PAR RESULTS. So take your "stop whining" bs and just admit that you are the slave to your corporate masters, you sure as hell try to silence our dissent enough to make them proud.
Seems like all the duties are having problems, can't even start the first mission of the SAM questline, everytime you enter the duty the game kicks you back to the title screen.
Wait, there's a dungeon? I can't even get that far...just like my entire FC
So....doing my main quest to advance the story and I cannot connect to the instance server to finish that portion of the quest. I get disconnected right after click Enter to the NPC so as a result I have to go back on and wait in queue to get disconnected again a few more times until I can get back on the game again. It's impossible for me to connect to any instanced events at this time. The only way I can play this game right now is to change class and play in level 1-10 areas while hoping none of my quests are instanced events. I can understand if this is a new game but it's been around for a while. What's going on here?
22 hours and its still not solved. What are you guys letting in one person at a time or something? Just let in a few more so people can move on with the MSQ already. This is so far beyond pathetic customer service and response to the issue. Hundreds stuck at each of the first two solo instances.. just... sad.
Obviously you were not here to enjoy the 18 hour log in q's when ARR launched. SE KNEW exactly what would happen here. This is expansion 4.0......THEY KNEW! They could have just rented some extra servers knowing people would be grinding msq, and potd and what not......could have rented servers for one month to handle the extra instances....but noooooooooo. They knew.....oh did they know.
Hell wouldnt even have needed a month. Better server capacity for a couple of days would have solved EVERYTHING. The lack of foresight, or the willingness to just let the player base deal with this mess, is almost to bad to believe.
They could just, you know, add a queue for the msq instances... I mean I'd rather sit there for 3 hours waiting in line than pounding on Raubahn for 22 hoping to get lucky, it's all just the sheer fact that they basically said "Just keep smashing him and hopefully it works" that is really getting people irritated, with a little bit of forethought this could've at least been moderately circumvented.
And that's not to mention that they "upgraded" their servers to help with issues such as these, (being from Atlantic Canada it wasn't super helpful for my latency though) I would've expected a little bit more pre-planning on SE's part to make sure issues like this wouldn't arise as much as they are, not to mention at this point the communication between them and us has been, to put it lightly, somewhat lackluster.
well, only high traffic duty have this problem, i did my job duty for my drk and pld and nothing happen, rdm and sam have the same problem with msq one just because bunch of guys play with these job now, just like when i queu in potd with my pld, i got instan queu in a party of 3 other dps either rdm or sam while many guy on reddit complain about how long they have been waited for potd queu
It's now been 24 hours and I still can't get this quest done. Patience is gone.
well I liked min to 63m guess what? area I need items for it is in the next area lol. biggest problem is your trapped in 2 zones till you complete this. not even a dungeon yet. first primal is 63.
Yeah, this is garbage mentality. The customer is, in fact, very rarely right, and it's a generation of "customer is always right" bull that has raised an extremely entitled group of 'let me speak to your manager to make up for my incompetence' human beings.
And you are literally the most wrong person who's ever been.
You are under the delusion that you're allowed to have your voice, and the people that don't agree with you should be quiet. ( Hey, sounds pretty similar to what you're accusing other people of doing! ) You should shut your mouths because you are literally NOT HELPING.
Here's the thing about these kinds of situations. The more time and effort a company has to spend dealing with the whining and the crying is more time and effort that can't be directed at the actual issue. Every time someone has to stop to give another pointless 'update' is time they're not working, when literally all the update will be is "Hey, we're still working!"
No one at Square is sitting with their thumbs up their butts. I can guarantee you the buildings are just this side of burning down.
Game companies CAN charge 60$ for a game. They can charge more! All you have to do is NOT BUY IT. Hit their bottom line. But whining isn't going to change their pricing points.
You literally do NOT have the right to demand above par results. You can demand 'par' results, because, guess what, par is what you pay for. Every little extra thing they do where people like you never thank them? Consider this karmic balance. Instead of only hoping on the forums to cry, hop on here to congratulate them on a successful event ( you know, almost every other event they've run ). For going above and beyond.
Things happen. Balls get dropped. Once the issue is resolved, I can 100% guarantee you that someone will lay out a genuine full answer as to what happened and why things went sideways. That's what a -good- company does.
Be as dissonant as you want. You're doing it to feel better, and that's fine. But don't pretend you're doing some sort of ridiculous 'higher calling', or you're making ANY impact other than a negative one.
What's happened isn't unacceptable. It's the reality. All that's left is for them to finish up their fix, let us know, and then you and every other 'dissenter' will be back sucking on your appropriate corporate teat.
gtfo. doesn't matter who you are. you have the right to your own opinion. I give a damn if you ate paint chips your own life. you have the right to biotch. if you don't understand that it's from ffxi. problem been going on over 24 hrs. and they said at arnt changing anything. so don't go saying they are working on it. not been one update since it been going. also go ahead tell me I can't speak my mind. I've served my country for 16 years 5 years at war and been shot and blown up multiple times. so you have no right to tell anyone they are wrong.
I have every right to tell you you're wrong when you're wrong. Nothing's 'broken.' All they can do is optimize, which is what they're trying to do. I explained why updates are stupid. I never said you couldn't speak your mind, just that doing so isn't helping.
Get some reading comprehension to go along with your martyr complex.
have you ever played a mmo that had early access and did not receive any fixes during the first week or two?
Personally i've never played a mmo that has been perfect from day one, they've all needed some fixes. Also while there are some people not happy with combining the term tester and paying customer, they need to realize that even though we have paid for the game, pay a monthly rental for the game we are also public testers for the game even if we dont want the be and the only way not to test the game is to stop playing.
There are two possible expalantions for this huge mess, given SE is sitting on years of experience running these games AND they also knew (or should have known) how many copies of pre-ordered Stormblood were out there, so knowing how many people would be on the servers going for MSQ wasn't even remotely rocket science.
a) This is a level of incompetence that would get people fired in other areas of business. I can tell you for sure (and I have worked in IT just as people close to me) with something as we are seeing here there would have been blood in the meeting room.
b) This is actually planned. Take their money, let them in early… but don't ensure they can actually continue. If people get angry, do a bit appeasement tactic. Renting extra servers for the intial onslaught seen as an investment not worth the customers possibly lost over this. After all, there are the RPers, the avid fanboys/-girls that excuse everything done by SE (as seen in this thread), and many people who will be annoyed but won't cancel their subscription over this. So as long as the net loss of subscriptions over things like these does not hurt the bottom line, compared to cutting corners (insufficient infrastructure, bad planning, cheap production methods/value etc.), increase of new subscriptions through aggressive market ing etc. … why bother.
The second is an attitude I have seen quite often in large cooperations (yes, from the inside). I don't know if it is the case with SE, but increasingly everything I am seeing in this game points in that direction.
It remains to be seen how SE handles this additional cluster**** within the expansion. But my hopes are extremely low.
Right now "Early Access" simply has turned into "Waiting for Access" and I simply regret having pre-ordered. I doubt I will ever pre-order again, if I actually renew my subscription, given how bad SE has become in balancing classes (WHM...), handling the community beyond appeasement tactics and marketing schemes, and many other in-game issues.
If I want to be treated badly or stand somewhere in line I can have that for free elsewhere.
This is pretty much the impression I got, it seems to me that Square-Enix just isn't willing to invest in the additional server capacity required to properly cover their product launches, knowing that this capacity may well go to waste once the hype dies down. From a short term business perspective this seems sound. However over the long term, the more people start to see this pattern of long queues, broken events and sporadic service at launch, the less likely they are to actually invest in those games at launch.
I like to think, by and large, FF fans are a pretty smart bunch, most of us aren't just casual gamers, many of us were around before call of duty turned gaming into the cesspool it is today. I don't think anyone is really stupid enough to preorder a third or fourth expansion knowing the state the original game, ARR, first and second expansions all launched in.
As for people saying "this happens with every MMO launch", it doesn't happen with every launch, but it does happen frequently enough, especially to Square-Enix, that they should by now be learning from these mistakes and not repeating them. As consumers our patience only stretches so far, and when you repeat the same capacity issues every single time you launch, people will lose patience. "Don't attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity" only applies when the stupidity isn't repeated over and over.
The sad thing is that in most businesses, renting intitial servers is pretty much SOP for major launches to prevent messes like this. They had preorder numbers, they have download records, they have registered accounts, AND they have 2 previous major launches under their belt. They should have known that this would happen and that maybe they needed to do a 30-50% boost in instance space for a month. Or you know, use some kind of dynamic usage system they set up with their host. I work in a Datacenter myself, and none of this is particularly hard if your developers know what they are doing, and spinning up load balancing systems is cake.
But the real crime here? Complete radio silence. Nothing has been said from SE or the NA NOC team since 1:45PM yesterday. Where I work, we have to send out notices and status updates a minimum of every 2 hours, even if its "Everything still broken, we have no idea what is causing it".
So everyone gets stuck on the next quest/dungeon? Bad idea.
Last year everyone was stuck in login queues forever and getting error messages. You can at least login and play this time around. And tbh, this is par for the course for a MMO release. I haven't seen a single MMO that hasn't had issues.
What a lot of you fail to see, is that it HAS gotten better from HW release. There's no error 2002 or 90000 preventing everyone from playing.
