I'm pretty excited to check out the new battle system. I'm glad that WHM in now a pure healer! I main a WHM for it's pure healing. I like that now spells like Stone I, II, III, IV are all on one icon and change depending on your level. Cleric stance is the only thing I'm iffy on but I'm not going to make a final judgment until I actually use it in battle. I do know one thing for sure.... I am one SUPER excited WHM, for early access!! Let the healing commence :D

I am more concerned what was sacrificed for giving back our mobility.

Also I am liking the new MCH as it is getting a lot of technology theme skills over gun skills.

The new Job unique energy system will require getting use to because it seems the strongest skills require those Unique energy.

MCH enegery seems to function as a Heat system it requires maintaining low heat so they do not over heat. We can also see the ammo is being redesigned to allow access to better skills.

PLD looks great but I am still not sure about WHM. I am concerned we are going to end up with the same issues with had with healer balance in HW since they seem to be on the road to making the same mistake. If AST is supposed to be able to main heal it needs to be able to heal enough for the role which makes WHM pure heals somewhat less valuable since much of those heals will be excess for the required amount needed. If that is the case, either AST is going to be underpowered or its going to come down to wether WHM brings anything extra to the table on par with AST's buffs and if a barrier is all we have then I am not convinced its going to fly.

All I can say...is I am overwhelmed with joy at seeing Wanderer's Minuet demoted to cooldown status. That...thing has been the bane of my existence since level 52. And it nearly caused me to quit the game, it certainly was one of the factors making Heavensward one of my least liked...if not hated expansions for any MMO.

But now...it's gone...and Bard is free to frolic and dps again. I might actually be hyped for Stormblood now. All hail our lord and savior, Yoshi-P!

member Bard use to not have a cast time before... they pretty much brought them back to how they were in 1.0... machinist never really experienced such a change... so they dont know... but they will come 4.0 ^^

I wonder if Bards and Machinists are gonna get hacked at the knees in their DPS in exchange for being able to run around again. If so, I'll be strongly considering going Red Mage on my alt Machinist.

I hope MCH/BRD aren't apex predators in DPS anymore, especially with our changes to mobility (Moreso to Bard- MCH was always really mobile). We need to be toned down in that regard.

Honestly, I agree since they're getting mobility back. It was okay when you had to stand and cast but it's kinda busted to do that much damage and run around all over the place with ranged attacks that have no directional input. It's the reason they got the lower end of DPS in 2.0 in the first place.

They will balance it by giving us a lot of close range attacks like the flame thrower (so that you either sacrifice damage by being mobile and away or put yourself in danger by being close to boss but increase damage). For bard who knows....they probably have to sing more to keep damage up (just having to sing is a sacrifice to begin with). They already sing but with the new flute and all the singing in the trailer it probably means they have to sing more to have good damage. I've never played bard so I'm making general observations.

So both mch and bard in 4.0 are balanced because of those 2 sacrifices.

I'm so glad Monk finally has an aggro cut after lacking one for so long, I'm glad that it can cross class Goad, and I'm glad that it will be able to buff the party's damage.

They really fixed every problem it had.

Their Red Mage is basically a black mage with a sword (slightly less insulting that Revelation Online's sword mage, but very up there), if the skill showcase is anything to go by. So I beg to differ.

That said, at least cast times are no longer shoehorned into BRD, and that's something to celebrate.

I know War and Pld have a love hate relationship, Pld is not my element but are still the core of Tanking and they deserved that moar Holy power. I trully did suck as PLD

I think the attribute changes are ridiculous. Removing ACC and replacing it with Direct Hit which is similar to DET. I'm wondering is DET next to go? Accuracy is a guarenteed hit that will land which is the same as a Direct Hit(if you land an attack that's a direct hit) and Direct Hit increases damage dealt which is the same as DET, because determination increases damage dealt as well as the amount of hp restored. It's going back to attributes complimenting each other but it's conflicting more than it is attributing. It will be a choice of whether to meld DET or DH, which I already meld DET instead of CRIT, but it seems as though they are trying to get players to notice DET or will they choose the new stat and nix DET. To add insult to 2.0 they are bringing back STR as a stat for the tank. It's also becoming a plug and play with the new defensive skills for the PLD. Why craft if all you have to do is go through raids for gear.

You really didn't get what Direct hit was.

Direct hit is kind of like Critical hit but has less of a damage buff and a higher chance to proc making it more reliable. It also stacks with crit so you can have an attack direct hit and crit hit at the same time for higher damage.

It works nothing like DET.

Tanks won't be able to use STR accessories. They will all be role locked. Tanks will have to use Vit accessories like they do now.

FFXIV is not FFXI. If you want XI's RDM, go play XI. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy with the RDM we are getting and especially happy of how the mechanics and nuances of RDM operate.

It looks like some jobs are changing into builder/spenders. We've been missing those, and i was wondering if they'd ever do it. I'm glad we're moving away from the "press shiny button in sequence" rotations.

This. I'd love to see more team-combo actions that can control your character to some extent in the future, but ONLY if there's also an easy way to turn them off or limit permissions.

BLM 4.0 : Healers rotate through using Rescue, which I'll use my 'teleport to Ley Lines' to return from. I will not WASD. Healers adjust.

I gotta say, if you knew what you were doing in FFXI, RDM was pretty nice as a job. XIV RDM looks fun too tho.

PLD looks a lot more satisfying to play now that they can burn MP on a powerful attack and have spammable AoE damage.
