Tentative date which might be completely off.
Now answer me this: What exactly would they benefit from less vague dates when in fact only the topic of bitching would change? From "what do they mean by <vague date>" to "they broke their prommise!!1" when the tentative date doesn't hold after all.
It's all about preferences, there is no right strategy.
Saturday, eh.Quote:
Nov. 30th is as late November as you can get, so Dec. 10th isn't a bad estimate based on what SE has stated so far.
I think it'll be early next week. Could be late this week though! Next week is a safer assumption, I think.
Probably some time in January
My money is some point between 12-16 Dec.
Any time after Dec.20 will be a bad time. With SWTOR coming in that day, your numbers are going to be a lot less than what 1.19 gave. I am sure it won't have a dramatic effect, but I would like to try out the Moogle fight before then, because I know I am going to be investing time into SW, but that is only me.
Two things we do know. It will be early December, which will be late this week or early next week, and they will start billing sometime after the patch is released (Citing that they will like to give us time to enjoy the patch before starting this). Since it would be silly to charge us midway or at the end of December it would have to be starting the new year.
Happy Holidays.
Honestly I don't think even this game has much to worry about from SWTOR. It'll draw in the hardcore Star Wars fans and the MMO-hoppers but I don't see it getting much bigger than that. From what I've seen/played it's a very traditional and generic MMO with Star Wars paint thrown on and voice overs. Though honestly I may be a bit biased as I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars or Bioware.
I'd say the safe money is on next week. Nov. 30th is about as late as November can get and +10 days from there would put us at Saturday, which they don't patch on. Generally out patches have come out on Thursdays, though I don't know if this is a coincidence or part of the actual plan.
Probably part of the plan. It makes business sense to have a business day immediately after any patch to be able to have staff available in case shit hits the fan due to a bug or an exploit released with the patch. Where I work, we have releases of new code to production on Thursdays as well.
Though it doesn't break away from the MMO formula, it really holds it's own quite well. I played the beta and had to force myself to put it down, because I know the character would be deleted. Right for the most part in regards to the game, but SW's beginning numbers are going to be really high, and continue if end game holds itself real well, which is the true question if SW will be any good or not.
Anyways, my guess is between Dec.10-15 for 1.20, I wish Dev's would come out and say it though.
Last year's "Starlight Celebration" began on 15 Dec. If they do not plan to delay it this year, the content for that needs to already be in place beforehand.
Yeah I agree. Before I wasn't sure if I was going to try SWTOR, especially because I rarely get into that style of MMO, and there was no noticable controller support. I got an invite to the beta a few weekends ago and like you, I couldn't stop playing. Me and a friend were playing for what had to be around 15hrs straight, it just pullllls you in with the open-ended dialougue and gameplay. I even got Xpadder to work AWESOMELY for this (I was the sole healer in all our group content and had almost no problems once I spent an hour/two working out the kinks). Can't wait to rip some KB+M players a new one in PVP, I'm already in need of my TOR fix. I do plan on paying through FFXIVs continued development prior to 2.0, but I am expecting the servers to see a pretty sharp decrease in population at least until 1.21 comes out. I am in a fairly large LS on one of the most populated servers in XIV, and I know about half are at least trying TOR when it launches.
People will "bitch" either way, but then I don't think people are bitching half as much as people like yourself like to point out. I see nothing wrong with some healthy discussion as long as people are polite.
Anyway, if I was Yoshida I would first and foremost give myself more time to get a patch out. And if, by chance, they get it ready earlier, they could release it ahead of time and we'd all be cheering them on instead of getting annoyed that they're delaying stuff again.
I also think that when he decides to give us an idea about when something is coming out, he could use terms like "sometime between the 10th and 20th of December" rather than saying stuff like "roughly ten days after late-november". It's not the first time he has done this. It all started with the infamous "before the end of summer".
This is not me "bitching". I'm just coming up with suggestions that would, in my opinion, help the situation.
I used to guess patch dates, but then... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hHpT...eature=related
I am just waiting for the Yoshida message saying that because the server structure is so messed up they wont be able to add player search then we can all mail Tanaka our thank you messages.
putting all my eggs on next Wednesday/Thursday.
The question really boils down to roughly ten calendar days or ten work days.
Mug I offer a suggestion for a X date to Y date type format instead of an early/mid/late format as well, but for whatever reason the vocal community as a whole thought the idea to be stupid...when it clearly makes it more precise and clear. :s
Next week will be Patch, Just wait you see! and with it, notification that Billing will start in 30 days.
while im hoping that the patch is this week, with the lack of any communication its most likely that they release sometime next.
Most of the problems are with the engine... Tanaka had nothing to do with crystal tools. He was told he had to wait until it was completed, then use it for FFXIV. It's the same engine made for FFXIII, and the company's decisions to have Tanaka use that particular engine more or less doomed the MMO. Now they realized that, and are letting Yoshi have a new engine made.
I'm optimistic the patch will be this month... In the first 2 weeks, I doubt. Yoshi has yet to make a single deadline. He usually pushes them back 2-3 times. So far it has been pushed back once, so we can expect one or two more delays based off every other patch he's ever done.
Guys the lodestone home page has a post about billing starting on Jan6th. Does this mean that patch comes out dec6th?! (Tomorrow) ?!?!!?!

Interesting i thought they would have given a bigger discount but I guess you got to take what you can get oh I also like the little note about charging for retainers in 2.0 I guess they left that tidbit of info out when they talked about it.
Nonsense. It has been already stated that we will be able to experience the patch for few weeks until the billing starts.
Not necessarily a month.
Also the patch will not be out tomorrow they would have posted something today if it was tomorrow.
Actually I think I have found a better marker for the update in the email I got about the billing deal it says you can change your payment options starting on the 16th.
I was thinking the 16th or 17th. that gives us 3 (a few) weeks to play for free before payment. Also since the update was originally going to be early Dec (1st-10th being early) then a 10 day delay, 6 or 7 + 10 = 16 or 17. /speculation
I found this little gem hidden in the payment info. It may or may not be relevant, but I think this is patch date.

I would not be surprised if they released 1.20 on the 15th. That way they can run the holiday event for 1 month. Just a thought.
The majority of us expected the release late...I am not expecting it till around the 20th to be honest...as with everything SE says people seem to assume something they say becomes and immediacy...just like 2.0 release. Much of what is posted in those notes say after 2.0 release. And when 2.0 is released watch we'll get complaints about they said this...they didn't...people took a statement and ran with it and implied it...until it becomes a semblance of truth. They do this to rage and sound important.
15th to 21st bet more towards 21st for 1.20
Honestly I'm getting sick of coming on here expecting a patch and seeing a message that every single patch for almost half a year has been delayed from one week up to 3 weeks so far. When employees are late to work what do you do, you fire them. SE, your goal was to release this patch end of november, your excuse is as for the last few patches you need to bug test, thats great, none of us want a buggy patch. But if the problem is your unable to CONSTANTLY release patches without a 7-21 released delay, I think you need to stop letting employees play PS3 Home on extended 2 hour lunches and talking about the game rather then sitting at their desk and actually doing work. Constant delays due to more balancing is bs if its constantly been happening for half a year. Your employees are being lazy and whoever is in charge is not doing a good job of watching their work ethics. They are at work to , now pay attention here, to work. Isn't that mind bending? You get a job to do your job? Speechless comes to mind of the concept. *sarcasim?* Get your job done, were getting sick the excuses. If you can't fit everything promised into the patch by that time frame even with everyone doing their job then perhaps you should consider focusing on more accurate release times instead of these release times estimated as if you had godly programmers, cause lets face it, right now? You don't.
I do believe the promise to release timely patches was something used to hold over the people invested into Square-Enix stock. How delighted would they be to discover they were lied to half a year ago when you all were trying to save face and prevent a complete plummet.
Corporate not allowing enough employees on the project because they don't want to anny up more positions cause they want that brand new dodge viper or skyline the second the next gen comes out next year? Stop eating from the CEOs hands kissing butt and tell them how it is from a realistic stand point. If you need more employees to make these times, get it through their heads that after half a year your still unable to with the current staff they need to not take that 30000$ vacation this year and anny up. Corporate pigs.
Apparently, you know nothing about how the Japanese culture and work environment are. Maybe you've been working in a company that sits on their bottom far too long. Of what I know and seen of the Japanese culture and work environment they easily work several times more then many cultures.
They never announced what day they were going to release. Their patch releases are more frequent then most companies. They want to release clean patches not rushed and poor quality patches.
These are systems that are being carried to 2.0 and they need to do them with care.
Your post infuriates and is disgusting and disrespectful!!
I dont really care how you feel about my post. Your post is nothing but words. What I brought up spoke of what has actually happened. Your defense is that they never gave us a release date. Wow beat around the bush, for half a year they have given us a late estimate on all of it, and at what excuse? To test more? Clearly either A) the employees are slacking or B) Corporate won't dish in and tell HR they need more employees working on the project. Regardless of A or B whoever is giving the time estimates is being unrealistic if they clearly have to delay the patch each and every time. And thats the fact. Sorry.
You assume more people makes things move faster. That is so far from the truth! Some systems can only be touched by one person at a time. You assign each individual to code a routine and then you connect them together. You can't magically add more people and make things necessarily go faster. You most certainly understand nothing about programming or else you wouldn't make such ludicrous statements.
My post is nothing but words? I worked in this industry...I think I'm more competent to speak about it then you are.
