No, he's right on this point. It's buffs (ballad, ewer etc) that are ineffective. You still have natural regen and can see this out of combat. If you had 0 natural regen you wouldn't get anything back at all and would eventually drain to 0 mp.

since I have extra mp I can get out a extra dark arts attack and it is glourious

From what I remember off the top of my head, 1 piety give likes 7 MP? Meaning 77 MP per rank V materia, 16 slots can have rank V materia, meaning that's about 1232 extra MP, possibly an extra 154 MP if you have it on your weapon's two slots (If it has them).

Which is almost 1 extra dark arts at the cost of a ton of damage and health...

I am reminded of how upset people get when they see a relic built with bad subsets.

Edit: Well upset's too strong a term. More like when I've seen bad relic weapon allocations posted to provoke a reaction.

I just got through telling a buddy we need to go hunt diadam for ilv 280 drk weapons with piety. I was kidding of course but then right away i see this thread.
