But it's still Free, and that was what he/she was talking about. ^^
But yeah, you have to work for it. I've never been a crafter in any game but lvl'd 1 to 60 for the Moogle mount back then. -heh-

Never Forget, Never Forgive
Indeed - A "Need" is created from a "Want".
Example: You "want" to live, therefore you "need" to sustain your body, as you can not live without sustaining your body. It's either both or neither. You may find the maintenance terribly annoying and would rather get rid of it, but you cannot, because it is "needed" to get your "want" - living. If you however do not want to live, you do not need to sustain your body anymore. It's a bit painful and chances are you "want" to not suffer, but that's a separate issue.
Its sad how SE are charging for stuff u should be able to get in game like, sleipnir from odin, bennu should been a drop from t12, we already have death and flip animation yet they are charging us for a emote single character version of it.
Hi SE how about that gil that ppl been stack piling up because the game basically have zero gil sank, why not let veterans player trade them for mogstation item, while casual can purchase them with their $.
So long as there are willing ppl to buy stuff off the mog station it'll always be there.
Think about it a little here......... With the extra income they get from the mog station they can afford to put more time into developing new content and new jobs for our enjoyment. Their staff and development team don't work for free, no one works a job for free everyone needs an income to survive.
You could argue that those items were paid for already with that month you were subbed during the event time. Missed the items? Pay the month fee like we did during the event by purchasing them on the Mogstation. /shrug
1) ever since I been back playing the game starting at about patch 2.5 there has been 2 new dungeons with every major patch.
2) New QoL items, features and gear are being released with patches
3) They had originally said a job like rdm would never come to the game due to limitations to be able to make the job work for the game while doing justice to the job
Money from FF14 was being channeled into FF15 when they went over-budget... I wonder if something like that is happening again...
No official statement may have been made about where the money goes that is made through the mog station but none the less it's still going into the company and the company needs income to be able to continue to thrive.
Don't forget the servers need to be maintained as well and then there is the customer service team that handles customer inquiries and issues. There is a whole lot to this that a lot if ppl seem to over look and a lot of staff working at SE, they are not a small little company making poor games on a cheap budget.
1.) 2.5 and before had multiple dungeons per patch, 3 in my examples.

Go back further if you want. I actually took part in the concern about why the cash shop was being expanded but dungeons were being lessened back when the announcement was made.
2.) Yes, we are getting new things. We have always gotten new things. However the rate at which we're getting them does not coincide with the increase in profit SE has received from the cash shop. Less dungeons than we used to get despite profit boosts from the cash shop are an example of this, actually an example of how an expanding cash shop has done the opposite of what the reason pro-cash shop people had for it supporting it in at least one way.
3.) Limitations was and still is to a large degree a really common, vague reason SE used/uses for not doing many things. I don't really see what RDM has specifically that made it impossible to implement without upgrades to the servers or whatever. Unless SE figures out some kind of way to make RDM play like TERA combat or something, it's going to fit in with the archetype of already existing combat in some way.
Weren't the Playdead/Backflip emotes? Actually from the other Eastern Versions of FF14.
The general theme so far is items we get from other versions cost a bit more than items actually developed for OUR mogstation. I don't know why this is?
I'll be buying both because I love having more emotes to bring my character to life, I do find them a bit pricy. But I have 100% drawn the line at the 100$ zantetsuken emote, that I really cannot justify XD
This is the first time I've seen SE do something like the mog station and selling in game items like that. The sub is also about the same as the sub for ff 11, I can't say for sure about other places in the world but the cost of living goes up all the time every year the minimum wage has increased by $5 in the last 5 years that ARR has been out.
All those against the mog station items you have to but would you rather they raise the sub fee to bring in the extra income to adjust to current the world market?
I would rather them just switch to F2P if the subscription model isn't working and expand the cash shop until their hearts are content than pay a sub fee AND gradually feel like a second class player if I don't spend more and more on top of that. And yes, this includes with cosmetics since we've established a precedent.
If people make it profitable, SE like any smart business will push consumers to their limits.
That's all subjective. What's objective is many free to play games have found financial success. If SE finds themselves stagnating with a subscription model, they have two choices. Blend the subscription model and cash shop practices into some kind of hybrid or switch to free to play. If I remained a player, at least I'd still feel like I was getting my money's worth with the latter choice. If I'm paying a sub fee and a substantial amount of content I'm interested in is gated behind further purchases, I will feel very ripped off.
And for the record, I know of F2P games that do some things better in my opinion at least than XIV does them. Housing and combat for example.
Cash shops in a sub mmo with exclusive stuff are there to make extra money, but that profit wont be invested back. Square had a max budget per expansion for FFXIV and thats about it.
IMO? People should stop buying anything from there but wont happen, second best option? follow Blizzard current model.
If FFXIV goes free to play that is when I quit.
I don't mind the mog station, it is optional items, don't like them don't buy them.
Never thought a human being could be stupid enough to not want things to be added in the game and wish to pay for it.
That' ain't logic. Or at least give the option to get those items in the game as well, with achievements, grinds etc.
Some will pay, others will grind.
CS exclusivities are a shame (i don't mind recolors)
You'll be getting a sub fee and a substantial amount of "optional" yet exclusive content locked behind the cash shop a-la-a F2P on top of that if people make it profitable enough for SE. If you want said content, it won't be any more optional than paying a sub fee to play the game is. Then you may as well have the game be F2P.
Technically if they only ditched the sub fee it would be B2P not F2P.
If they kept the purchase price and dropped the sub fee, yes.
Whether they'd go the route of SWTOR, dropping the purchase price and sub fee, or the route of The Secret World and being B2P is anyone's guess. Either would be preferable to me over paying a sub fee and getting an increasingly F2P-esque cash shop though.
Nothing but greed as usual, the cash shop should just be boycotted...

hey here is that thing so many people asked for since suggesting new emotes was a thing lets make them pay for it because we know they asked for it. prices are so high that it only takes a small amount of people buying it to justify it on there end such a bummer.....
Wouldn't even be so bad if the subscription included a little bit of cash shop money. Then they'd just be veteran rewards that you can get early.
No it's not enough. It's enough to cover expenses, and maybe even make a little bit of profit. Why add the emotes behind a quest, when you can just sell it on mogstation for 7 dollars? People complain, but those same people end up buying it anyways, keep saying "we don't like this" but then giving SE your money is basically pointless. The only way to show them is to stop buying it, but people keep buying it :P. To be frank though, this game isn't about passion or love, it's a company. Bottom line is years end revenue and profits. The cash shop help brings up the YOY profit increase. Also I mean 15 dollars a month really isn't much for a company.
Also I keep seeing this whole "Why isn't the money going back to the game?" Because once again that's not the point. every year they allocate a budget for FFXIV, and its up to the devs to use it accordingly. Say they make 100million profit, that 100million doesn't go to the dev team, only maybe 10million does. The other 90 million goes into the SE bank account, which is then used to allocate into other franchises.
