what does the Kobald nm look like i never seen anyone make it to him
As long as the instanced NM(s) drop better loot/gear than the open world NM(s), i feel that's going to be fine and i'm sure the Japanese forum players would want that just as much. It clearly defeats monopolization in the face. Those who want to have open world content NM(s), by all means, hope the devs implement it for you guys, but the way it's looking now, instanced NM(s) are on the list of dropping better loot/gear. And it should stay this way. I just do not want an environment where the elitist shells gather about and do their usual botting in open world contents over and over again which refuses other casuals to actually have a shot at it.
If all instanced gear is better then they need to not add NM, which leads to lack of content again. Same problem with the current NMS. All the isntanced gear is better, so there is literally no reason to kill them.
Instanced Gear need to = NM gear. That way those who do not want competition can do instanced, those who want to do NM can. Both are valid and worth doing.
Well I'm not sure how the devs are going to pull it off but at the end of the day, I'd hope that gear wise drops would be "Instanced NMs > Open World NMs". They may include open world NMs or HNMs but perhaps for other reasons. Maybe for titles or achievements. Or people attempting Instanced dungeons to obtain a key pop item so they use it to pop open world NMs. And this gives every single living soul a chance to have a shot at every single NM or HNM created, which in return will possibly rule out camping forever. No need to turn up 3 hours before last death time.
I suppose that's what Yoshi is aiming to get at. Japanese forums probably are wanting the same.
I'm just guessing anyhow.
Why does all BiS gear HAVE to come from instances? Or the pop items for said open world NMs come from an instance? Some of us like the competition involved with the open world NMs and it seems kind of selfish that at least some of the BiS gear cannot come from open world HNMs
It seems like the world of MMOs in the late 2000s are dead worlds -- Instances everywhere is the same as playing a local Co-Op game, it doesn't feel like an MMO since your community interaction would be narrowed down to cities and dungeon lobbies. I really don't get what's wrong with having a lively MMO world, even playing games with high population counts it still feels like a dead MMO because there's almost zero reason to be in the overworld aside a random roaming boss or two, the majority of the game takes place in your personal instance playground or a PvP arena.
For example everyone has a shot at everything open world, 'elite players' holding down something is just something that happens in all MMOs, even more so in PvP based MMOs.
Yes, please. We have plenty of good mob families that could easily just be made "bigger and stronger" and it's all set.
Morbol (Not to mention it's been one year already and there's no actual reason to kill any Morbols at all other than to brag rights), Gobbue, Flans, all beast tribes, Golems, Elementals, Skeletons, both the remora and coeurl from the new dungeon. All these mob types could become very interesting NMs with just one or two new moves and a NM drop ala the original five.
And let's not even get started with the endless possibilites when it comes to making NMs from the playable races, no need for neither new models or moves. Heck, need to test out a few Arcanist or Musketeer moves? Make an Arcanist NM and let's test em for ya.
I'd say ive seen more ppl complain and screen bloody murder over open world content than instanced content.
I don't think anyone really has a problem with instanced content, but some of us want open world content as well, which, a lot of ppl seem to be against. Either because they might not get he item they want cause someone else is campin the NM or they already assume there will be a 24 hour spawn timer. There needs to be both types of content and even a cross between the two, with BiS gear coming from all sorts of different content.
:) i support open world NM's
can't think of anything worthy they could drop though. Certainly wouldn't be gear with superior stats, so maybe crafting material? Anything to make $$$ :D
To prevent monopolization by elitist shells, to deter botters from spoiling good fun for others in game?
I'm sure the devs are wanting to prevent what occurred in FFXI during the early times.
Everyone deserves a piece of the pie. It's not meant for the same old people every time you turn up at the camp spot of a HNM.
Main thing I'd really want to see is the the complete removal of timed NMs or HNMs. The devs should implement pop methods via doing a series of difficult quests to obtain the pop item if you would like open world NM/HNMs. (And also since if your against pop items coming from Instanced areas.)
I'm sorry, but no, everyone does not deserve a piece of the pie. There are always things, whether it be RL or in-game, that some ppl will never get, achieve, or be apart of, that is just the way it is. Just because some people do not want open world NMs that drop relevant items, does not mean you have to spoil it for the rest of us who do.
I have to agree with Syntaxlies that a variety of content is needed and it needs to be relevant too. Just because a group of players are camping a NM doesn't mean the content is bad, if they enjoy that, let them have their fun. Don't ruin it for them because you feel you deserve everything.
What you're suggesting is even more selfish that how you portray these "Elitist Shells" to be. You're denying others the content they enjoy, simply because you don't like competition in a PvE environment.
I personally don't care about quests. How would you feel if I suggested that all quests be completely removed from the game? Is that fair? I'll let you be the judge of that.
It is not fair for 1 group to dictate what is mandatory for other. If gear is worthwhile from both events I see no issues here.
Everyone Deserve a shot at something, everyone is free to camp things. Things should only be deserved for those who want to do it. IF people do not want to camp they do not deserve items. Just like if people do not want to PvP they do not deserve what ever rewards come from that.
Only thing people deserve is the ability to press the log-in button and get on the game... that is where the I deserve X stops. You can pay 12.99 a month or 10,000 a month, all you deserve is the ability to log in.
Everything instanced is not a fun game design. If you disagree in my eyes you are wrong and I don't care about the counter argument... instances get very very boring with repetition, That is how I feel and believe it or not a lot of people feel the same way. I killed Hnms for a good 6 yrs on XI, that adrenaline rush feeling of getting a claim on a rare mob, never leaves even on the 300thish kill.
The game has to have content for everyone, casual content sucks after 1 week of doing it. Atm the only hardcore content in XIV is settlements to a degree... but the drops suck so bad it is really not worth doing outside a few drops.
Variety in Endgame = Good, no variety is epic fail in development. The lack of variety is one of the biggest issues in western game development today. While it might be the standard... it is one that should never be followed.
To comment on the bot situation: STOP COMPARING NM/HNMS TO KINGS IN XI....
The best way to combat bots is to not make a set spawn area or spawn time (make the spawn window extremely varied so it cannot be figured out... if it is ever figured out change it). Make it say lets use Tiamat can spawn anywhere in Corethas away from main road or Odin can spawn anywhere in the game off the main path, they can spawn 1 min after killed up to 24hrs.. no set spawn time no set spawn area. No exact spawn location and no exact spawn time makes camping/botting it very difficult.
Or make the NMs forced spawn. Say kill raptors near Baulderdowns, get a untradable item that force spawns a NM. Can't bot that.
Can't remove bots completely, but you can mitigate what they can do.
All in all if the devs want to make everyone happy they must make rare lotto spawns nms, forced spawned nms, Tiered Nms, dungeons, instanced fights, Large scale raids, mid scale raids, small (8 person raids), duo events, trio events, open world free for all content (defense things like campaign). That is what their last mmo had. Anything less the game lacks variety. They need to not repeat WoW's mistake of limited content.
I guarantee if they do all that above... there is something for everyone no matter what your playtime or style is. Some for everyone = everyone happy, forcing casual content on harcores = hardcore are pissed, forcing hardcore on everyone = casuals are pissed.
Well MeowyWowie if you say so then. But the majority of the game FFXIV is pretty much leaning towards the Instanced Areas path.
I support this, and hope the drops are like the first wave of NMs, dropping mats instead of actual gear.
Great supporting argument. Funny how the majority of people posting on this topic are in favor of NMs, though.
There are times when the majority should get what they ask for. But when that affects the variety of content a game has to offer, no. Just because the majority wants instanced content, it doesn't mean that free-for-all open world content should be nixed completely, which is exactly what you're asking.
Step outside the box for a minute and you'll easily see that your selfishness is no different from that of the elitists shells you seem to loathe so much.
It is the main content. Nothing of note will come from open world NMs. All of the best gear will come from instanced raids. Once a strat has been released for instanced content, it gets farmed to death and everyone has the same gear. The player base becomes homogenised.
Monopolization? The solution is to get better, not make things easier. You have the same opportunities that we have, so don't act like certain linkshells have an inherent advantage.
Is it better that every player has the same gear within a month? If you want the items, become a better player. It shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp.
Is this a joke? I have killed Ifrit over 100 times.
Here's a kill we did in 3:34.
