Despite your clarification, still don't really get what you're talking about. BLM is not top dps at either ST or aoe damage, but it's not abjectly bad at either

Every DPS can put out stupidly high numbers when played right. I've seen BRDs spike at more than 8k damage per second during their openers, and SMN's burst damage can be really, and I mean really high depending on the kind of opener they use. Blowing out all their AF and DW within a 20 second window to fit into Battle Litany can put you at the top of the charts with no problem. I mean, the fact that they can still keep this high burst while running around is why they had to be continuously nerfed for PvP.

As a side note for OP, as others have said, don't judge a DPS by the enmity bars. They are somewhat vague indicators of damage, and actually can give you a good idea of a DRG or MNK's dps, but the rest of the DPS have access to enmity-changing abilities. BRD, MCH, SMN and BLM have Quelling Strikes, and around 30% of a SMN's enmity is actually their pet's, so their enmity will always show much less than it actually should be if it was raw damage.

I pick on Mnk and Smn because they are regarded as top tier dps. Keeping that in mind, Mnks St dps is better then blm's. Not to the point where a blm could never out dps a mnk but still, Mnk is easier more efficient sustained ST dps. But then Mnk also has Aoe dmg thats better then Blm's in most situations. If Mnk has better ST and Aoe dps plus better survivability, why bring a Blm? If the answer is because Blm is ranged, then look at Smn. Much, much better Aoe dps and ST dps that can be better then Blm, plus the fact that Smn dps comes from instant casts and pet dps, so they can have a much easier time dpsing compared to Blm as well. My question right now is "why bring a blm over mnk or smn?". To further clarify, I started playing Blm to Aoe hard. I dont have to be king like Smn is now, but I liked the days when Blm Aoed harder then the melee classes.

Monk aoe damage in no way is better then blm in most situations, you are misinformed i am afraid. Blm aoe is still ahead of melee, i do not know why you think otherwise
Smn sure certain situations could possibly be better ST damage, but in most cases blm is much more ahead in that aspect

Mnk AoE is harder than Blm AoE? Just no.

MNK dummies on Stone Sky Sea are the ones who require a higher DPS output to kill than any other class. Its not by much anyways, and as others have stated it will really depend on the player and the fight in question
