Yes, they do.
Elitism happens everywhere. Even on my server, which is usually known for being nice and laid back, has "elitists," and I make a habit of not dealing with them. Like if I see one has a PF up for something, I'd rather just make my own than join theirs, even if mine takes longer to fill, or never fills at all. I've ran into them from many different servers: some from legacy, some from low pop servers, some from high pop servers. They're everywhere, not just legacy servers.
That guy was just a prick. And kicking him probably would have better. Though a part of me hates to see him get off without the 30 minute penalty that he definitely deserves. Normally, if someone in a party demands we kick them, I tell them they are more than welcome to leave and enjoy their penalty. I don't think it's fair for them to force a party to kick so they can jump right back into DF and harass another party.
Balmung is full of it.
I main Ninja, am level 60. ilevel 235.
I join a party finder for Sophia Extreme, only to be kicked out for not having "Blood for Blood."
"No offense, but we need people who are actually going to take this seriously."
So I sent a joke of a tell to them saying "It's cuz I'm black isn't it?"
Then they took it seriously......
Yeah.... I couldn't get away from Balmung fast enough after finding out how nasty it was in raid tier after working my ass off to get on that level.
Although, now I'm on a super small and chill server with no raid tier, so it's another can of worms.
I used to be on Gilgamesh and that was pretty chill for me, then a friend suggested I transfer to Balmung, so I did and I regret it every day having to deal with fussy elitists that probably think their shits don't smell bad with how much they ride their own ego when it comes to the game. I never had these problems with any other games I play like Star Wars The Old Republic.
Just wanna say half the kick I get out of this game is helping others. Also, I typically clear raid content waaaaaaay past due, never been on the bleeding edge of ilvl, I swap between two characters on the same server which slows my progress even further, and I'm a legacy player on Sargatanas with both characters created at 1.0 2010 launch.
Unless I'm just an outlier, it sounds like you just ran into an Ascian whole
Maybe I'm overweighing my experiences on Gilgamesh but it's definitely not a good server (happens also to be legacy) for new/fresh players. Wish I knew beforehand that Gilgamesh became the unofficial "hardcore" server because it's just stressful and tense for any new person here. For example, I joined an A9S "progression" party that turned out to be a bunch of people from a static. After the group started, I was the only one put on notice that if mistakes are made the party would "reform."
Objectively, obviously static members won't kick each other on performance grounds even if it's clear they're the ones at fault. What sickens me is that this is the attitude on Gilgamesh towards progression parties, which to me is erroneous; putting so much blame or spotlight on one person is justified for "farm" or "clear only" parties. To me, this supports the assertion that the FF14 raiding community, especially the hardcore segment, has dug its own grave: they only want to fight over the same small pool of "exp" players instead of branching out and trying to develop a deeper talent pool for sustainable success.
Sorry to say. But I would kick you for the same reason out of a party for endgame conten t like the current extreme primal or Savage. The correct cross class skills are important to run a proper damage rotation.
I'm pretty shure the real reason you got kicked was for dealing very low damage.
Check out yourself and go to the Sophia traning dummy in dravanian hinterland.
All servers have scum. As a player on Leviathan (supposedly a legacy server) but only since 2.2 I have noticed that they do things that are less prevalent than on other servers. Things like using gathering & hunting bots - maybe they think that they've been doing it since 1.0 so they're immune, who knows.
TL:DR *All* servers have elites but maybe those on legacy servers push the boundaries a bit more.
Balmung is probably one of the most laid back servers out there honestly can count only a couple times having an issue with someone, There was even a couple of people today who spent the day helping random people get through Sophie EX.
Sorry if you dont have B4B you would get kicked regardless of server guessing you only got by before because people dont usually look at classes its usually assumed you have your cross class abilities.
Some are required if your going to challenge difficult content, try having a healer without swiftcast or a tank without provoke not having B4B makes it so the other 3 dps need to compensate for your loss of dps by not having it.
Its not like leveling is hard these days at low levels its just laziness to not have them
As I said before: Go to the Stone, Sky, Sea Dummy and test it yourself with Sophia Extreme.
It will show you how ready you are for this content.
Sorry, but no. The correct cross class skills are mandatory for content like current (and not to long ago) extreme primals and savage.
There seems to be some confusion in this thread as to which servers are and are not legacy. For reference:
JP Legacy Servers
Aegis
Durandal
Gungnir
Masamune
Ridill
NA/EU Legacy Servers
Balmung
Sargatanas
Excalibur
Hyperion
Ragnarok
They're not required, if they're not apart of the base toolkit they are not required to play the class. All they do is make it easier, having X skill open for cross class isn't a determining factor in whether or not someone should be excluded from content. Stating it is a requirement is exactly what that post is calling out into question.
I have and I have passed all SSS, I've even passed a few of them without WM on, SSS isn't even a good tool to judge by anyway.
That's plain wrong. You can't do Niddhog Ex or Sophia Ex (properly) without tanks having provoce. So unless you go with 2xPLD the other tank (WAR/DRK) has to have provoce unlocked. Else fail, there is no reason to even try without it. Go lvl PLD fast.
[That is... you can also do Sophia with "tankswapping" by "MT dies, OT was 2nd in emnity and tanks now, rezz and repeat with reversed roles".. but... really?!]
If all your dps in the Group would share that opinion you likely wouldn't see half as much clears as you've seen (ok, less likely on Sophia, but on Niddhog for sure). Caster without Raging Strikes and melee/ranged without B4B/Internal Release/Invigorate, MCH without Hawk's Eye, Healers without Swiftcast, tanks without provoce... welcome to a fail group of lazy players?Quote:

Also your argument would also apply to "Jobs". They're "optional" (i.e. not needed for queuing and clearing content) and "only" unlock skills which make it easier to get the job done. You can even wear almost every gear except the relic I think, so.... ? (Hint: You will get kicked without a job, too.)
It's true that you can still beat content with subpar skills/toolkit. But some players doesn't care to carry special snowflakes, who don't realize that up to 7 other people have to compensate for their lacks.
