I've mentioned this in a thread of mine. I personally would love to see a Gunblade job versus just the weapon itself. Beserker or some nonsense like that. It would make for one of the most unique "F-F"y experiences.

No i did but theres a fair few posts before mine so i really dont see why your singling me out.
The current or known future classes dont really fit Gunblade very well at all. Probbably Judge or Soldier but to be honest SE can call it whatever they want. Edit: Maybe with Magitek Knight/Mystic Knight/Celes esque job attached to it.
Limsa already has a Musketeers guild. how could a gunblade not fit to an advanced job for musketeer?
i can imagine an exciting storyline for the job as well, involving some espionage in the garlean empire to learn about their advanced weaponry, including the gunblade that they used in 1.0 already.
The very name says it all Musket-eer they use guns/rifles stand in the back line and shoot. I'm not saying it could never happen but the Gunblade is quite a different weapon to a Musket and probbably Musketeer has about as much of a chance of weilding one as Gladiators do. They would really be wasting Squall Lionheart nostalgia by making a Gunblade Class/Job that stayed in the backlines.
Who says musketeer has to stay in the backlines? Have you seen how Admiral Bloefhiswyn uses her guns? She gets right up in your face, then gives you a second or two to think about what you've done.
Then she kills you.
there we go with a gunblade

for garleans-only ;)
garleans are more technical based.. while we are more magic based. but well. who knows.
would be great though. but i think it would become so popular like jedi-knights in Star wars lol ;XD
a gunblady job would be cool if you think about it.. melee and ranged attacks combined in one class.
Yeah whatever job Gaius van Baelsar is, we need it too. we haven't seen him do too much to know his abilitites, and although he's called the black wolf perhaps he could still be a red mage.
With the easier to modify UI (SE words) and just plain better UI I think it would be highly possible to add abilities to items - It'd be pretty sweet to see gunblades come with abilities.
(Since I dont know how much sense a gunblade class is - its just a weapon with a gun on it lol, there are gunspears, gunblades, and gunguantlets)
The dumbest looking weapon I ever did see.
And that's counting the key"blade".
Wow after 1 year and 1 month 13 days this thread goes hot, I think it's a record.
The should make Dark Knight's use Gunblades seeing they can't use their true FF weapon which is a sword and that is locked on gla so that would be a cool sub.
I dont think cloud had a gun-blade in the movie and do not remember if the bad guys did been a while since i watched but speaking of skills, I would like to have the skill cloud used with his weapon when he took down sephiroth at the end of the movie where his blade split apart into other blades and sliced and diced THAT was bad A..
Its called Omnislash. And if we are talking about guns and FF7, Gun hand, anybody? lol
I dont think anyone in FF7 had a gunblade.
Edit: apparently there is two in Advent Children but they are like gunpistols and hardly that lol
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/G...dvent_Children
They had some form of gunblade (Kadaj and his gang) And Cloud killing Sephiroth was a copy and paste (albeit CGI not 90s pixely) of how he killed him ingame Omnislash if Cloud never had that limit he would never be able to kill Sephiroth (seriously if you don't have it at the end of the game it gives you it just to kill him with)
Comparatively no the harp is a small attachment, the blade is a big attachment, the harp doesnt change the combat style of the class in question, the blade would and if it didn't it would be a big dissapointment to alot of people i'd wager. The whole drive to play a gunblade class/job would be over the top explosive close quarter swinging and shooting weaponskills. Like the ones Squall and Seifer performed. Maybe with some ranged auto attack. I just cant see Musketeer being able to provide all that with the current armoury system and keep everything that would help it expand into the more natural job choices.
A Gunblade is weapon-based. So it only means Gunblade has to be attached to GLA/PLD since they use the sword. Unless they add rapiers which can clearly state (RDM or some other sword-wielding mage class).
I see the Imperials unleashing a new weapon called "Ultima Weapon."
at least a gun and a sword are both weapons.
for the bow-harp, the bow is a weapon and the harp... well... an instrument.
could also glue a cooking pot to an Axe and provide your party with tasty meals during fight.
doing buffs with a Bard instead of damage-only with an Archer doesn't change the combat style?
lolwut?
the only question would be - if musketeer class would have a gunblade job, what the role for party play would be. probably increased damage by combining range attacks and close combat.
So let me get this right, a gunblade is based on a sword so it HAS to be a GLA/PLD weapon, but a rapier which is also a sword HAS to be a RDM weapon. Yes I know that it is traditionaly a RDM weapon, but there is a huge flaw in your logic here.
A gunblade is a specialist weapon, whilst it is a sword it requires someone who knows how to use it, not just any sword wielder so it could go to another class.
Sure the bard has to stop to cast songs but the style of combat does not change hes still a bow user fighting at range. Your talking about a gun user changing from long range specialist firing guns to close combat fighter swinging a sword. Just because the weapon has gun in its name does not automatically make it work with a class that specialises in guns.
Exactly a gunblade is too different from both Musketeer and Gladiator weapons for either of them to just pick up.
No.
I'm talking about a range class that still does range damage with the gunblade but gets a few job-only skills involving the blade.
btw. let's not forget Musketeer comes from Musket. And we know that it was quite common in history to affix a bayonet to a musket.
which is in fact... a blade.
I dont think making a gun class makes sense. There are blades and spears and guanlets - maybe there is a gun axe dunno.
That is very convoluted (armory system) to make a gun melee wielding class, and if you restrict it to just "blades" then you just left out the other types (while still confusing the system since its also a GLD type weapon).
I think gun modified weapons should belong to their specific class like gunscimtar is for blue mage, gunblade for gld, gun spear for lancer, ect ect.
You can still add abilities to the weapon - just add a tab for item abilities in the skill sheet page.
For logic into how a non-gun class learns how to use guns I was thinking of some cross class/job passive system, perhaps you can have the musketeer unlock a passive you can equip to other classes (increases fire damage by 5% and allows use of firearm modified weapons).
In that way you are not screwing up the job weapon organization (not that I would be sad to see the armory system drastically change or anything.... *whistles* lol)
I'd like to see at as a drop. I always thought a gunblade would be cool to have back in FFXI. Maybe it can be an extremely rare drop or something?
The opening of Ishgard may come with new guilds, which = new classes/jobs. However, i think that would come in a later expansion. The devs certainly need time to put out an expansion after the game launches, so I wouldn't expect more than two new job classes (including Arcanist) before the first expansion.
id really like to see a Gunblade job as well. it should be its own job, unlocked with L50 Musketeer and L35 Gladiator.
I think a gunblade specialist class is cool.
You know, I think I saw a thread like this some time ago (started by Gin Tama) that had some great suggestions by several posts about gunblades... I'll try to do a search later.
But I still agree it'll be wicked to have Gaius be the "go-to" person to complete a series of quests to use the gunblade as an advanced class
I'd love to see Gunblade introduced in an 'Imperial' themed expansion, I would like to be able to go into the enemy cities/areas and listen to the NPCs talk, see their architecture and do quests based around infiltrating these areas
I'd imaging Beastmaster or Mechanic could be here too since they use Wolves and Machina a lot
Doesnt make any sense at all. Dark Knights are using dark magic and no technical "ullities".
they use magic for ranged attacks.. and not a gun -.-
and what are your arguments? at least i dont care about a "no never, ever" """argument"""
it would give the FF online franchise a fresh taste.. and a Final Fantasy stemp.
and on the other side.. Gunblades are already implemented... ha..
gramul... you are just like your username and character's race.. an always grumpy person (Roeagadyn :P)
i always see you flaming everywhere.
at least i care about people who deliver real arguments. and no meaningless statements without any argument.
lol yeah i made one some time ago http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...8163-Gunblades
lol its a matter of taste i would say, not everyone can like the same.
