For my first run I am bringing me, myself and I.
Would be nice if we could bring our chocobo companions in. You know give them an actual purpose? But since we know that wont happen I'll try to solo this on my dragoon. But since the devs have said yes you can go in solo but its not meant to be solod so ill likely end up getting frustrated and giving up on it after a day or 2.
That's not the impression I got from the interviews. They implied that if you use the lvl30 save point then try to run the first floor (lvl1) you will become a lvl1 player again. It's to prevent speed running through in the manner you suggested. You will technically always be at the "Deep Dungeon Level" of the "Deep Dungeon Floor" you are currently running.
Although we have to wait until release to be sure as we all know how things change last minute!
i wonder what happens if u want to change job , those save slots are confusing....so if i solo as bard to floor 40 then 41 is too hard , and want to go as sch? D: i will need to start from floor1 ?
why any1 would want to go solo as anything other than war , sch or smn?
Four of us from my FC are planning on running it. We all have multiple roles so we'll probably start with tank, heal, two dps, and go from there.
Greetings,
Patch 3.35 is near and brings with it the brand-new Deep Dungeon: the Palace of the Dead. While we showed off a bit of this during E3 and also in a Developers' Blog entry, I'd like to share some details in regard to participating in this content.
There are two ways to enter.
- Entering via a "Fixed Party"
Attachment 2871
Players can enter with their currently formed party.
Since there aren't any restrictions to the number of participants or roles, players can make a group with up to four players to enter.
When continuing with a fixed party, every party member needs to have the same save data saved.
<br>- Entering via a "Matched Party"
Attachment 2872
Similar to the Duty Finder, this system will match players within the same data center, and will progress with that party. This mode will be done with 4 players; therefore, when participating in this mode as solo or groups with less than 4 players, it will fill in the remaining slots. There aren't any role restrictions in place.
When resuming progression with matched party mode, you will be matched with others who are at the point in progression. In addition to this, you will also be able to group up with players who have the same save data in the matched party mode beforehand.
Moving onto the save data.
Players will be able to store up to two save data.
This can be either fixed party or matched party mode data saves.
(You can save two of the same type of mode as well.)
In addition to this, you can also convert the fixed party data into a matched party save data. By converting, you will be able to group with players who are at the same floor as you. However, please note that once the data is converted from fixed party, you will not be able to revert back.
You will be able to reset the save data as well. Resetting the data will reset your level and progression. We anticipate this feature will be utilized in the following manner:
- When players get stuck on progression, they can take advantage and try to improve their equipment via earlier floors the next time around.
*The status of equipment upgrades for Deep Dungeon-specific gear will be carried over even if the save data is reset.- Upon completing all floors, players can start over from the first floor by resetting to release the save slot.
Pretty deep stuff! ;) I hope you are looking forward to Patch 3.35!
The one worry though is what about inventory? I mean it looks like we have dungeon specific gear and items, are we going to have a seperate tab or slot that will be in use or is this going to bog us down even more?
How does changing class / job work? Thanks!
When is Patch 3.35? 5th or 12th?
I second the inventory concerns...SE keeps adding more and more items and our storage space remains the same. I guess they hope to get more money out of us via additional retainer fees. That's pretty crappy, in my opinion. It should be understood that with the addition of more items over the course of time, player inventories should also be expanded to accommodate the addition of said items.
You guys aren't getting it, if you watch the previous video explaining it you can see that there is a totally separate window on the Hud where the items obtained are displayed and used. Since these items are temporary and can not be used outside Deep Dungeons I highly doubt they would go into your actual inventory. Same with the weapon and armor, uses its totally own Hud and doesn't go on your actual character armory.
i plan to take pikachu.... maybe Blaziken.
more seriously duo with a friend PLD x SMN
Like I said somewhere else on this topic - look at Deep Dungeons as an "Easter Egg" type game that's 99.9% separate from FFXIV. Only in rare instances do they cross over, like when you can bring a rare glamour out from Deep Dungeons. There's talk of being able to level up a FFXIV class inside the dungeon but at a much slower rate to balance things out. That would be another crossover. I doubt we'll be able to take items into the dungeon either (consumables like potions) but rather we can collect them whilst in the dungeon itself & keep them in our dungeon backpack. Fun!
They may have to add some Tome rewards to leave some trace of reward to bring back other than vanity though.
It would also get players farming Anima feel as if they didn't lose some level of progress running the Deep Dungeon when they could have farmed for eso tomes or at least some incentive to go into Deep Dungeon other than mindlessly farming a certain dungeon for Eso tomes.
How does skills and abilities work in this one? Lets say my real level for MNK is 30, and I go into the deep dungeons. Will I be able to use the levels 35-60 MNK skills once I hit that level in the deep dungeons?
Given that, I kinda expect to see some 4 man "class" runs.
why the summoner's pixel character using garuda! o_o no titan/ifrit? lol
Off topic, but what does the DRK sprite look like? I really wanna see!
WM of course, who need a team when you can heal yourself AND Dps like hell ?
just to ask since gear is separate inside and out does this mean we can go in wearing anything we want to?
trying not to think about it until it's released so I don't get my hopes up again.
The save slot system seems REALLY bad.
Why can't I just have 2 character slots and party up with whoever I want? I'm basically limited to who I can do Deep Dungeon with, which sounds stupid.
If I want to be able to do it solo, I can only choose ONE GROUP OF 4 OR LESS for my other slot, and I can't organize a group consisting of anyone else. That's dumb.
Alternatively, let us have more than 2 slots. I'm really worried that I'll rarely get to experience premade Deep Dungeons, as only being able to go when a specific 3 other players are on for that save file will make it similar to scheduling a raid for 4 people, for casual content.
Me, myself, and Irene.
yeah 2 slots looks like nothing , 1 for solo (just beacause!) , another 1 for matching ...and if some friend want to duo , or static want to form , u need to sacrifice 1 .... :(
dunno how hard would be to add more , but 5 would be cool , solo , match , and 3 for friends (duo , 4 man , another solo job slot )
Only 2 save slots really is completely inexcusable and incomprehensible. There is some irony in that the UI pleasantly looks like an SNES FF game, which even back then had 3 save slots. Why doesn't Square Enix give you guys servers that aren't hunks of junk that they picked out from scrap heaps?
Because of profit margins and quarterly statements.
On-topic, I'm probably going to start with WAR (because OP Equilibrium, Bloodbath and Vengeance) and then try SCH later for lulz. I imagine, just like all solo-able content, that SCH/SMN will be very good choices.
I start any new piece of content as my healer, its just easier to settle into it and get to know mechanics
I, too, am a bit uneasy with the description of how the save slots work. The "saved party" option seems entirely too rigid, at least as it's been described. What if one member can't make it one day? Then, nobody can progress. Or, a worse case, what if you've progressed deep into the dungeon, and one member suddenly drops from the group or quits the game or whatever. That save point is now useless since you can't enter with your saved group. The remaining members all now must start again from square one?
It seems like it would be much simpler if you could go in with any party, at any time, and progression would default to the furthest-behind member of the party. That way, if you have a group of four friends progressing together, and one friend can't make it to a session, the other three can continue on while the fourth makes up the difference on their own (or with another party) until they are caught up again. Then all four can continue on. If a person permanently drops from the group, it's easy to bring in a new member at a similar level of progression.
Perhaps the party save option isn't as bleak as I'm painting it, but right now it looks kinda bad...
