I'm... not entirely certain what to think of this thread, seeing how drastically unnecessary a great deal of it seems to be. Regardless of what someone's take is on a situation, only those effected by a circumstance knows just how much their mind can take. That being said, every single one of us should be just as well aware, what the likelihood is of running into a potentially offensive situation (wherever it originates from), this especially including Competitive Modes. Now there is no reason to ever defend the mode however, as offensive commentary is still offensive, and should be reported as such. But the situation is already out of hand, when someone decides to go beyond reporting the player's offensive commentary, and make a show of the situation, augmenting the will to argue in a number of people that happen to catch wind of the thread.

If you take offense to someone's verbal harassment, report it. That's all that has to be done.

Just looks like super impersonal trash talking to me. The OP was addressed as "Dark Knight", not anything personal or outside of the context of the in-game world. So in essence, the OP is choosing to play a PvP match where the objective is to incapacitate (or more commonly referred to as kill) one's opponents. An opponent who they incapacitated (killed) told their character to kill itself, and the OP took this as a personal attack with real life implications.

What am I even reading? There is a very clear point where it is not the responsibility of others to cater to someone's inability to tell fantasy from reality, and this thread reads like some bizarre attempt to blur that line.

Generation of the oversensitive...

You cannot communicate with opposing teams during PvP in any way - no chat, no emotes, nothing.

The only question now is whether OP will abandon ship, stay the course, or acknowledge that his grievance is completely baseless.

You can pvp without behaving like an absolute twat. It's just that kids these days didn't have manners smacked into them at a young age. So they're now selfish, rude, entitled adults.

I don't even play pvp anymore bc people are just so damn mean if your team loses. I did shatter twice since it released & people are always getting up in arms. Seal Rock....don't even get me started. I gave up bc I was tired of ppl blaming me for not healing them when THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON TAKING DAMAGE. Or ofc when THEY'RE WAY TOO FAR OUT OF MY RANGE, sometimes I actually sprint to them as fast as I can but they're just too far.

But somehow it's always my fault ./shrug

If you are not willing to change yourself, what right do you have to ask others to change? There is such a thing as compromise.
If someone says something that upsets you, try to take a step back and ask yourself if it's worth thinking about it! If you are about to say something to someone, try to be considerate!

You cannot even talk to the other team in any pvp mode so unless you were using a third party tool (which makes your original post sound really odd since you are not supposed to be seeing that chat anyway) it might be that they were not even talking to you at all.

If you were using a third party tool well... -cough-

Also, if you were, do you think that the enemy player knew you had the third party tool and could hear them? If not, that is kind of an odd thing to say to someone who you know could likely not hear you.

I'm on PS4, I can't use third party tools. The more I read about this, the more I start to think that player was cheating, and helping the other team. Perhaps they were on skype, or something.

why didnt you shout back? its the only logical thing to do right? favorite retorts always like "No YOU" or "YOURE a kill, yourself" idk i always have fun with people saying whatever, sure it prob bothers you OP but id be smiling that they had to say that after losing to me in combat even a good old " XD"

So you're on PS4 meaning you can't use 3rd party tools. Mate, why do you have to drum up fake stories like this for attention. I know you have mental issues, but come on son, step your game up. Official forums are not the place to make things up hoping for a pity party

That seems logical to me. If they were killing people from my religion or hurting them in some way in a particular area, it's very simple to steer away visiting that area.

If it's my way of living, well I have other places I can live and strive in and do things in.

There's more to this world than the internet or in this case, PVP and not everyone can go to every single place on earth due to either physical or mental conditions.

You all do know what trash talk and banter is right? It's kinda been around since the dawn of competition. It's like going into a pit at the heaviest rock concert you've ever been to and mad you get hit in the face with an elbow. Its just something that happens.

It really might be that it was not even aimed at you. It could have been someone frustrated at a drk who used living dead. Or if you were in shatter it could have been about a drk that jumped off a cliff and died (which happens a lot in this mode and I am not guilty of doing it myself accidentally nope)

As for back on topic, you have the right to be offended, however the world has the right to not do anything about it. Being able to freely express your opinion is not bullying. I really hate how a lot of spaces are trying to make free speech a crime. It's getting to a point where we will just pretend that everything is alright instead of saying what we think to each others faces because of the fear that the police might step it. Do you think women shouldn't go out alone, wear skirts or use makeup because "they're asking for it" too as there may be people there who have no morals? Jesus. Why on EARTH can you find it acceptable to force a "type" of people to go elsewhere so a group of people can have an environment that uses hate to exclude others? That was tried in WWII, the Balkan War & during Apartheid in South Africa. If you find that a good way to go about things then there is no help for you.

I don't think that anyone is asking for it, however as a woman I'm well aware that those to walk alone at night in mini skirts are more likely to be targets than those that dress normal in pure daylight. If you're a dude you wouldn't walk around at night alone in fear of getting murdered or robbed. Somehow some things just make sense as self preservation do they not?

Of course I have, it seems to be a particular issue around Köln but that's not the point. It's got nothing to do with media reporting. The point is that it was implied by posters that those who were raped should have expected it by being somewhere with refugees. Absolutely disgusting. Plus, many of the reported rapes were during public celebrations & meetings in public spaces.

I don't think that anyone is implying that. However if you're at a point where a single uttered comment can send you flying over the edge, perhaps it would be the best if you did not put yourself in situations where you might hear such a thing. That's not to say that it's alright to be abusive. That's to say that there are tools to moderate such abuse such as GMs. However if just hearing abuse once is likely to push you to suicide, just stay away, for your own safety.

EDIT: because I reached my allowed post limit for the day. WHERE DID I IMPLY THAT? Do you walk around at night without any way of protecting yourself? If you get robbed doing so, did we fail to make the world a safe place from robbers? How is the world supposed to read minds before the crime happens? Criminals get punished. However in no society will there ever be 0 criminals. That is simply impossible to achieve. And if you know that it's impossible to achieve, why would you do things on purpose that would put you into harms way? That's not victim blaming. She is not at fault for being assaulted. However was there things that she could have done to save herself the pain of the assault, such as not placing yourself into danger? YES.

Read back what you just said slowly. Instead of making the place safe for women to dress as they want you're saying it's better they didn't look a certain way because it makes them targets. It's okay then, because they deserved it... Now if they'd been dressed "normally" (as you put it) then their rape would be far more shocking. READ WHAT YOU JUST IMPLIED. I am genuinely mortified.

It's doesn't help that this thread started with a lie. As has been pointed out you can not see your opponents chat in pvp. The op was either trolling or wanted to start a discussion here but got caught in a lie. Making up false stories to push an agenda isn't the way to go about it.

OP post is not what prompted my reaction at all. My reaction was prompted by a few comments thereafter that left me totally baffled..all I can do is try to take those comments as coming from young people, because if they come from adults with family...I am scared for the future of this world, be it virtual or, even more preoccupying the real world. The message carried by OP is very sensible, maybe the mean used is not right but that doesnt invalidate all what he said.

Psychological warfare is part of every PvP, going so far back as to chess. While "go kill yourself" is more of a modern thing, you should never let the equivalent of a 13 year old doing some vintage Xbox Live Halo trash talking get in your head like that regardless of your mental health. I don't condone what he said, but at the same time, he played you exactly like he wanted.

I'm not going to argue whether it was mature or not, but it sure reads logically. The internet offers some dangerous levels of stress, from toxic people, for those who cannot handle it. Also, I'm not the least bit surprised that users, yourself included, found my reply offensive. ON top of that, the post is fairly hypocritical which goes on to talk about how one should be sensitive to the possibility of mental health issues of other players, but then doesn't acknowledge that the other player (which I guess is made up) could also have a mental health issue which results in them speaking that way.

I agree with you. If a 13y/o speech and or attitude get to you then you are not capable to be in the internet. It is like allowing a child of age 2-3 cross the street on hi/her own. This person who has mental health problems have a guarding with him/her while playing the game.

Or it is like children allowing to marry a man or a woman to find the role model of a father or mother....sure you would sleep and reproduce and do your marital obligations with ur parents (this is in regard to another thread, the OP said happy Father's day be it biological, adoptive, as a role model or by marriages....)
