This made me so happy. The housing plans simply floored me. I love how he really listens to the community's ideas.

I knew it! I knew Dragoons will be launching out combos.
And the Summoning Primal thing. I think people might abuse it to make money.. I really hope they think this through carefully.
Overall, fantastic interview.
What worries me if that there are whole servers full of linkshells that might be constantly competing for the primals, if the demand for the hardest battles with the best rewards make (gear and/or story) is to have a primal on your team in order to succeed then there's going to be a massive demand.
Yoshida stated that it's supposed to be an OP feature. So encounters aren't going to be balanced according to their usage. Either way, you have earned the right to use the Primal, so it's not like you are merely pressing the iWin button. Add some sort of a [Primal'd] achievement so everyone knows you didn't beat the encounter the "traditional way" and there will be no problems whatsoever.
I'm pretty glad that with the introduction of summons they finally seem to be adding some endgame PvE competition to the game.
Anyway, Yoshida's stance in what makes an FF "an FF" is pretty sad.
The only way to do this is to have your game be a mish-mash of everything FF games have introduced before?
It's as if he is trying to make this game into such an epitome of FINAL FANTASY that it is bleeding out of our ears.
Even though the very core of FINAL FANTASY game is that it can stand out on it's own, and not take all its ideas from the previous entries of the series. Yet here we have Crystal Towers, Materia systems, TRADISHUNAL Jobs (from FFV era nonetheless), what's next? The game is set to be the least mainline FINAL FANTASY entry in the franchise with the way everything is borrowed from every other game in the series. Soon it doesn't even deserve the XIV in its name. The milking of the franchise is in pretty epic proportions here. We are about to rival Dissidia soon enough.
I'm less worried about the "what" than I am worried about the "when".
Up to now, most of it is just castles built of mist and clouds.
Let's hope the winds don't blow too strong in 2012.
I understand what you're saying, but I do think you're missing the point. When he says he wants things to be more Final Fantasy, he isn't talking about borrowing the Crystal Tower, he's talking about, for example, giving summons the epicness they deserve... I think.
wow!
Screw the jobs, i want the housnig, that info was sooo Awesome!!!
Think id like my house in coerthas near some pine-trees & a lake,
or possibly some "Snow" covered area.
Wooooo! Sooo excited, i cant wait !!!! ( ^.^)b
Ninja Edit:
And thank you for this interview & getting aswers to questions i've had since launch date! <3
Wow, this was hands down the best interview out of the batch over the past week or two. A lot of awesome information about classes and jobs and thoughts about the future. Thank you for posting this!
So you have to level up two Class to unlock a job now? wow what happen to 1 class = 1 job only role. I guess i see how that play out in the upcoming patch.
This is the best news for me so far. Woah.Quote:
Unlike other MMOs, in which you can only see your own house and each house is based on an instanced system, we want to make sure that other players can actually see your house as well. Around 20 houses can be in one area, you can make houses, not anywhere, but you will be able to decide in which part you want to have your house. You can also design your house itself and have your own garden, maybe you can grow your own Gysahl Greens there or house your own chocobo. You can really customize your own estate.
At the moment, in the Dev Team, you can actually see the mock up of the polygons. So you can see what the estate is going to look like. It’s the Limsa Lominsa version, and the concept is to make it like a European resort area, so it is going to be really beautiful. Up from the hill you can see the ocean, it’s going to be really nice, I believe. I’m looking forward to it.
but the 20 house/area, will this limit the house ? as 1 house/char, with a server of k player, how many area will there be ? lets not mention some will have alt
Wonder if that mean we keep the same great graphics with our PC but low end PC would have lower end Graphics. I know that what he saying but i like to know if it would look the same.Quote:
oshida Naoki: Actually, we are aiming for both. If you have a “high-end system” already, then you will be able to have more characters, monsters or objects displayed on the screen with the current high quality, but if you switch those options off, the game still works with great graphics. But you will be able to see less characters or monsters. We want to aim for laptops being able to run this game and at least to have the PS3 compatible.
I'm putting a huge sign in front of my estate saying "Keep off my lawn!"
Wow, i'm seriously disappointed with the 1st part of the interview.
All that whining, making up excuses and stuff, giving totally wrong information...
Once again i feel ashamed of being german...
Saying that NA's lag is as little as Japans's lag.. what nonsense!
NA's lag is just as bad as EU's lag!
And what's that *** about
"NA or JP got 4-5 seconds longer to evade Plumes" - What the heck!
Plume doesn't even last 2 seconds, how could they have 4-5 seconds to evade??
And getting hit from a plume or so 10 meters away?
Maybe from 3~5 steps outside the circle, but def not from 10 meters.
Srsly, this is just general latency, JP got it, NA got it, EU got it - everyone does.
It's just a little worse for NA and EU, since they're further away from the servers.
Really tho, they should add /sarcasm notes or so to their interview.
Fixed!Quote:
and Frederick is a real hardcore player /sarcasm
This is the only real problem, If you can't do it, don't blame the game, blame yourself.
I'm german, living in germany and I can show you the "Damage taken" parses of my NA team.
There is def almost no difference between NA and EU lag.
This interview made me swoon for 2.0. The Dragoon will be glorious.
I wonder if it will be:
30 CNJ + 15 THM = WHM
30 THM + 15 CNJ = BLM
This will allow the black mage to use the elemental attacks from CNJ and actually make sense.
Hi Jennestia,
Yah I'm pretty interested in this Combo stuff Yoshida-san is talking about.
It could possibly be like Sabin (Final Fantasy III (U.S. (SNES)) / VI (JP)) with multiple inputs, or I hope Yoshida-san is referring to the new Skillchain / Renkei / Regimen System that's replacing the Battle Regimen System, coming soon! :)
Can't wait.
Great interview, thanx for the link!
So what about Shield level?
So Yoshi-P confirms cross-class prerequisites for Jobs.
And we'll have Non-Pet, One-shot Primal Summoning (with environmental changes too!!)
And of course, the map redesign.
Everything I've ever wanted, and then some~
/Joy
I thought the questions were bad to be honest.
Aside from again using that weird amusement park analogy.. .. seriously what's with that? I mean yeah it's kinda true but I'd be really leery of just bandying it about so; a lot of people prefer to think of MMO's as worlds and the theme park aspect as an unfortunate side-effect of not being able to actually make a proper world yet.
ANYWAY.
Aside from that, that was a good interview and informative to boot. 'Kinda hope Forra won't have to wear that Dragoon armour, though.. but the ideas behind primal summoning are really nifty, and same for housing - especially that hint about it heavily involving the Disciples of the Hand.
I hope the talk of the graphics engine was also a reassurance we'd not see a slip in visual quality in the engine switch.. I wish they'd be clearer about that.
Thanks for linking that.
Never heard of themepark vs. sandbox analogy before? The former is an MMO disguised as a game, the latter is an MMO that doesn't even try to be a game.Quote:

here is the link I found random from google
the endless sandbox vs the safe theme park
So, Yoshida said Jobs will have secondary requirements.. Specifically PLD will require 30 GLA 15 MRD. Wouldnt it make more sense for a PLD to require a Healer as it's secondary?
