I think every piece of gear should be dyable, personally.
Making old raid gear dyable would add a lot of fun to the game.
I hope it is crafting related.
I have millions of gil ready for the fending coat. I need it.
Well the new 'useful in raids' crafted gear is going to need models. My guess is it will be the Allagan sets. Considering it's supposed to be good enough to wear in a raid I expect that they will also be some work and cost to make.
I'd love to see the item required to unlock it drop in T6-9 savage level synced only lol
Personally I don't care about the option though I like the gear the way it is :)
I wouldn't be opposed to this but it would mean they would need to create a lot of new armour sets since crafted gear's main selling point is it's dyeability and often crafted gear is just old dungeon sets made dyeable.
Not sure they would do this unless they have hired a bunch of additional 3D modellers and artists.
It's almost certain they're going to be craftable because that's what they've already told us, though. They were asked about dyable Allagan stuff a couple Live Letters ago and they told us they were possibly going to add dyable, crafted versions of the sets, and then they later confirmed that the dyable Allagan stuff they mentioned in that Live Letter would be added in 3.2.
While they could just make the old versions dyable (it's not like they haven't done something different from what they originally told us before), at this point I'm skeptical that that's what they'll do.
Right, cause crafting is totally not an actual gameplay component and nobody actually enjoys it.
You're a PvP'er, and you just want to farm easy kills/wins off people that hate PvP. Got it.
@OP - I'm assuming it'll be done how the dyeable AF gear was. You are required to have the actual armor piece, then you craft an additional item and trade both of them in for the resultant dyeable item (or perhaps just actually craft the dyeable version).
Yeah you've totally uncovered the mystery. Congrats.
I'm a healer in Maelstrom on the Aether data center which equates to people getting easy kills on me, and being a part of the Grand Company that loses the most.
Try again.
EDIT: I also fully support drops from the actual content (Coil) that it originally came from.
I mean in all honesty, with the AF you did a quest. With Allagan you had to actually clear content and get a drop. I'd rather it not be based on crafting.
I mean I don't think it should be based on PVP. I think it should just be made dyable. But if it has to be based on something I'd rather it be based on you obtaining the drop itself from coil
The point of what I said was to show how ridiculous your statements were, honestly.
I mean, you basically claimed that crafting isn't part of the game.
I'm actually hoping you DO need the drops, so we'll enjoy a resurgence in glamour farming.Quote:

Oh, I'm sorry. Please quote the statement I made where I specifically said that crafting wasn't gameplay. I was talking about rejuvenating PVP since queues are pretty much dead in the water.
Maybe next time you should try and make a point without having to implicitly twist someone's words to suit your statement.
Your statement didn't directly say that crafting wasn't gameplay, but the context, of your response to a poster suggesting they should be crafted items, clearly implies it:
If PvP is an "actual [i.e., real] gameplay component," then in context, that means you're saying that crafting isn't one.
You may not have meant that, but if so, you didn't choose your words very well.
Yes, I did not mean that crafting wasn't gameplay.
People, chill and have a cup of whisky. :p
We all favor different aspects of the game, but there's no need to invalid other player's favorite. After all, no one likes it when something they like get bad-mouthed. What's more, going by SE history, unless they stand neutral on a topic, no amount of suggestions (or whining) will change their mind. So at the end of the day, all we can do is pray hard that it will arrive in a way we can accept, and if it doesn't, should we grind or simply ignore it.
I sincerely hope it's not PVP! So people who cleared coil and got drops are stuck with undyable version, but someone who never touched coil but plays PVP gets a better version?? Terrible.
They should either make the items themselves dyable to encourage more people to do the content, or require the gear plus an extra item for a similar effect. Coil has great fights and this would be a good way to encourage more people to experience them. It's not like any of it's hard if you all go in at level 60!*
*except perhaps t9, haha.
I have a thought.. probably not a good one but better than nothing: Since as many here & on forums are saying 3.2 is the new higher ilv patch & we need gear for all area's they could just make all Coil gear dyable AND make new PvP token & PvE crafted are also coil gear (not sure which coil gear crafted & PvP tokens would get) it would make old coil worth a return & add something for both PvP & Crafting to achieve (& charge high in crafting case to lazy/rich ppl)
*note: I am not a PvP player (looked at the vendors thou) & am not a "end game" Raider (got lucky/brave enouf to have a few 1st coil gear T1-5) but wouldn't that spread it around enouf to make everyone at lest semi-happy
