I thought he said he "wished" he could skip the first step? I don't remember anything like that being said either.

He didn't specifically say that the atma quest was the one one that could be skipped. He said the FIRST of the 5 steps could be skipped if you did the grind for your Zeta.

Yes, The japanese notes read that the Lightning crystal is actually for Churning mists.

I also remember them saying people who did zetas could skip the first step. My question was do we loose the Zeta, and it confirmed in the 3.15 notes.

The step better be worth giving up the original. I will forego the skip if it just ends up being some vendor trash items.

Skipping the first step has been known for a while, no where does it say Atmas would be first step which is what she/he was saying in her original post.

"Players in possession of a Zodiac Weapon Zeta may exchange this weapon for items required to progress through a certain quest. Although the Zodiac Weapon Zeta will be lost upon exchanging it, players may purchase replicas should they choose to preserve its appearance via glamours."

In regards to this, does this mean I can use this exchanged item to swap over to a different relic? (I have Dragoon's Zeta but I now main Monk and like to switch)

You get a replica. The Zeta has no value beyond glamour, so I don't see the angst about it becoming glamour.

The 300+ hours is the value. A replica won't replace that. Neither will a trash skip.

If the first step actually is the Atma step, I'll skip the hell out of it. I'll also finally finish my BRD Zeta just so I can skip it again on AST after I finish my BLM one >.>

yes you can use any Zeta. I believe this was asked in some letter/whatever quite recently and its to help the new jobs specifically who couldn't have one on their job.

I hope so cause I played a drg at start of and had zeta 3.0 but then switched to mnk and lacked motivation to grind a second zeta for my new main class.

Then don't use it, let it just sit in your retainers inventory gathering dust while working on the new one. I'm using mine to skip the step; mainly to see what happens differently with the dialogue in the questline.

It's almost like bashing your head for 300+ hours trying to beat Alexander Savage and get full 210 w/ 210 weapon. and in 3.2 they'll be replaced

Don't get me wrong, I find an atma skip well worth trading it in. Not vendor trash, not player made items, though. I don't care about a piece of glamour, in regards to the replica. I put a lot of time into my weapon. My time is what's of value here, not the actual piece of equipment.

I don't care much for Dragoons Zeta so I didn't invest much into materia melds. Just a bunch of cheap disposable stats. Don't care for Warriors axe either but I do like the glow effect. However its nice knowing you can trade a slightly cheaper trash stat relic zetas you don't like and keep the ones you invested in as its still functional compare to a lv1 glam item.

I don't recall that quote either. I do know it was jokingly part of speculation as to what the phases could involve. But nothing before today suggested a new Atma farming round. I just hope those items stack and are not KI's tied to the job taking the quest line.

Yeah because you can get a replica Zeta without having to get the respective weapon on the Zeta stage first :rolleyes:

i figure the part you can skip with the zeta wont be that big. i recall the devs saying that it not do do a relic just for the boost as it won't be worth it. if the new fate farming is anything like the atma quest then i doubt that's the step we can skip

it might be a quest where its "we need somthing to use as a base for the anima weapon" and either a item or a zeta will do

The difference being I actually put time and effort, 7m, 300+ hours, and leveled a stupid tank to not sit in queue for an hour and a half as dps to get my item.

Crappy stats and 61gil.

Crappy stats... it's an irrelevant weapon at 60, a glamour piece at that point there is your difference, all that other stuff doesn't matter anymore gil spent/time.
I came back to the game late, what I would give to be in your position with a Zeta to trade in and skip an extra grind step.

Wait a minute, if we can buy the replica of Excalibur. Shouldn't the name be Excalipoor and wouldn't Gilgamesh be the vendor for the imitation relics?

Oh well for some reason I'm not bothered this time. I'll be using my Zeta. Hope the Anima spear looks better than Longius.

I have attachment to my Zeta but its really just sitting in my inventory. I only regret loosing the stats but bad stats or good stats they're useless if the weapon itself has no use anymore. .-.
It did its job when it was relevant but right now its got no use so I don't mind trading it in. Just my thoughts though.

Sure? I mean i got my Zeta as well back when they were relevant but it isn't like i'm using it for stats at level 60. I would hope nobody else is doing this as well.

If this is just about the "Replica" part of the text in the item description then, i dunno what to tell you w/e floats your boat dude.

You must not read. I said It's my time that's of value. Anything less than a 40hr skip in effort is a slap in the face by comparison.

I didn't wait 2-4 months for a nerf like most people.

Odds are that new atma-esque grind will take time.

I'm sorry you have no problem throwing your time at this game without any regard to its worth in the end.

I actually care about mine, and I don't see anything other than skipping a grind like Atma worthwhile.

I'm kind of with Laerad on this. My Zeta isn't just a "pretty" weapon, it is MY weapon. It's stats are picked to exactly fit my taste and I remember every hardship I've been through to get to where it is now.
There is a huge difference between this and a mere glamour item. But hey, everyone has a different bond to their items. I am one of those people who have an entire retainer bag full of 1.0 items like prophecy scrolls, deaspected polycrystals, Maelstrom medals and the like. It's the same kind of memory chest people have in RL with concert tickets, postcards and seashells they picked up at their holiday location. My Zeta is part of that and there should be a good reason to throw it away.

The hours you spent on it won't magically make it match the current ilvl meta, Glamour is glamour, No amount of gill or hours you spent on it will change that. Just something you'll have to get over, The zeta serve the same use as the replicas, Only for glamour.

Here is the difference nobody can buy a replica zeta of any kind unless you once own a zeta and its very specific too. Lets say you owned a BLM zeta weapon and trade it in to skip a step you cant turn around and go purchase a WAR zeta replica, you can only purchase a BLM Zeta replica.

I think you are confusing the value of memories vs bits in a PC game. You can still get a replica which says a lot because in most mmo's you can't trade in anything for an upgrade let alone purchase a replica. So please place more value in the memories you have of creating the Zeta than bits of information on a screen. No matter how you look at it that replica zeta holds as much value as the actual Zeta you hold in your inventory. Being able to skip a step is more than enough + the ability to purchase a replica of the zeta you earned... Its a win win.:cool:

more important, a lot... most of the community simply don't care of the savage raid and want to have something worth it to do. until the 3.2...
some people love raid, fine, but since SE refuse to give us a true alternative to the raid as end game at least let the other get a good item throught them hard work. (especially if they have a step a la atma).

Fair enough. Though I'm more worried about the tradeoff than anything else. I don't know why glamour keeps coming into this.

You don't HAVE to trade it in, it's just an option, if you want to keep it that badly you can keep it, you'll just have to suffer through the 1st step.

The whole Zeta replica thing makes me bang my head against the wall so damn much.

Is it good? That they thought of including that as an option, that we get that? Yes, of course, it's great.

At the same time though, I can't help seeing it this way: here's a perfect example that just screams "IF WE HAD A GLAMOUR LOG THIS WOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE". And it just makes me rage like a lunatic.

I know, I know, beating a dead horse. But imo it's a dead horse that's worth beating, and hey the dead are known to come to life sometimes.

Agreed if DCUO a F2P mmo can give us glamour logs and create any style you want from any style in the game no matter the job you play FOR FREE (NO IN GAME GIL REQUIRED) then why cant SE get off that wacky ban wagon of there's and just implement a style (glamour) tab?
