A TV and GPU is little different to something that already exists in the game's assets but uhh....keep trying to justify why there's nothing wrong with what they're putting up on the cash shop, assets that again already exist in the game $12 for Red and White, thank you Square Enix!

On that note - when are we actually gonna get to the point where we collectively do something that says "STOP RIGHT THERE!" to these blatantly banal cash shop additions?

Fantasia - why not? /shrug
Server transfer - why not? /shrug
Name change - why not? /shrug
Eternal Bond extras - why not? /shrug
Renting retainers - why not? /shrug
"Optional/glamour only" - why not? /shrug
Dyes that are consumable - why not? /shrug
Past event rewards - why not? /shrug
Exclusive NPC outfits - why not? /shrug
Exclusive NPC outfits that aren't even dyeable - why not? /shrug
NPC outfits that can easily be done with generic gear pieces - why not? /shrug
Minions - why not? /shrug
Exclusive minions - why not? /shrug
Exclusive mounts - why not? /shrug
Exclusive mounts that are only recolors - why not? /shrug
Pointlessly overpriced items - why not? /shrug

Does nobody else feel the problem here?...

That all said, while my other posts here have been about how the only way to stop this from happening would be to convince everyone not to buy them...I MIGHT buy the Red one. I just need a cape for Seki and I'll be golden for her...

Ugh. I kinda sorta really want the white one... but $12 seems a bit expensive for a reskin. It'd be nice if they added an in-game alternative as well as the cash shop method so people had choices in obtaining them.

I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with it, I don't like it either. But here are my options, buy it from the cash shop or never have it. $12 is a rather small price in the grand scheme of things (yeah I'm attempting to justify my spending on it), but it's not like there's another option. Besides, I haven't decided if I'll actually buy it yet.

I wouldn't be suprised if them releasing the cash shop only dyes wasn't due to hillariously sluggish sales after the initial hype-train and whales spending all they own on them the metalic dyes were not very common. now they are atainable in-game, if they were selling them hand-over fist I doubt this would be the case.


Just because SE doesn't come out and say "Jeese guys sorry we were bleeding your wallets" doesn't mean the people who aren't purchasing this content don't have an effect. the "Majority" may not be as much of a "Majority" as you think it is. I mean how many Slepnir mounts are there actually compared to the size of the playerbase? Not really alot I would imagine, also these purchased items have had consumer blowback as well with mounts like Slepnir being called out for not flying, or having special emotes requiring them to go back and put work into them to justify the purchase to the consumer.

It doesn't take alot of people to shell out to make the reskins profitable for SE, but there are farther reaching implications to these things in the long run and consumer apathy doesn't just happen overnight it builds and it can snowball before they realize it. The issues continue to mount and there will be a boiling point if they don't get their ducks in a row.

-Inventory issues
-Glamor restrictions due to cash shop
-Server instabillity
-Delayed patches

Now before anyone jumps on me I'm not on the developers about this I know the pool fools have no choice usually but their marketing arm needs to back down they are siphoning too much consumer good-will especially for a company that is just coming out of a spat of shaky reputation with their game releases.

Why not just let us unlock it in game? There's so many different kinds of content this could of been a reward for... Maybe even have one drop from Praetorium and the other from Castrum Meridianum?

I bought both and don't and won't feel any shame in it. I like the cash shop. These are pretty cheap for mounts (WoW prices theirs at $25), and I'm glad they're going in that direction rather than up in price from Slephnir's $24.

Looks like 3 out of the 4 Magitech Armors are Gundam references.

It's a shame that they didn't add them as rare drops to be obtained in Castrum Meridianum/The Praetorium. I'm a big fan of all things Garlean though so I'll likely buy them to add to my mount collection.

That's exactly the problem though, technically with something like the reskins that really require zero dev resource, one purchase already means profit. :/ Even if it is indeed a very small drop in the ocean.

On the description for the two Magitek mount, it said the song played when riding is Steel Reason, a Garlean music (when we fight against Livia, Nero or Rhitahtyn)

And here I was waiting for someone else to mention that the two new Magiteks TOGETHER are the same price as Sleipnir. Ignore that Sleipnir goes to your entire account. Look at the entire breakdown(especially alt-oholics):

Sleipnir: 24USD for up to 40 mounts
Magitek: 12USD for ONE mount, 480USD for 40, and 960USD for 80(both white & red)

Makes Sleipnir look like one hell of a deal...

The real point is that if they added these kind of things into the game at no extra cost as incentives to play the game. Acheivment rewards, gold Saucer rewards, commendation rewards, you can make these zero dev time items do real "Work" for you at give the players more value to the subscription. People are less likely to fall into the patch on (Pay for a month) and then dissapear for months until the next patch arrives. Getting your customers to stay subscribed steadilly "Should" be worth more than the cash shop is bringing in.

I'm loosing confidence in this game and i start to think about quitting.
This whole cash shop shit is disgusting.

This could of easily been a reward for castrum/prae to encourage people to run them while also filling the duty finder for new players that still need to finish them. Hell it could even be a "run Main Scenario roulette this many times" achievement.

Why not at the very least let your playerbase actually play the game to unlock them?

They're not investing more into FFXIV and yet, I'm still giving them my money, you're still giving them your money, every protestor here is giving them their money. It's hypocritical to say the least, I dislike the direction the cash shop is going in and yet I think about spending money on there, you dislike the server limitations and yet you're paying money for these awful servers. What does that say? That everything is fine, money talks, and you're not talking (but hey, neither am I).

Recolor fit perfectly as "optional cash item". More than a complete new mount.

Honestly, they should just wrap up re-colored mounts and send them out as thank you gifts to everyone for faithfully playing their game and getting them back on their feet. (:

wow! you can get both the magitek mounts for the price of a non-flying sleipnir mount.

Well, I'm kinda happy that it's not $24 dollars for the new mounts, which means that the broom mount will be roughly that price once they put it up for sale.

If the White Devil comes with the Steel Reason music then I am all in!

Besides the fact that I have wavered on my subscription before instead of being a constant subscriber?

I pay for what I feel is a fair value, the base subscription does that just fine, it doesn't mean I don't feel it could be far better. I don't purchase from the cash shop because it is not worth my investment, the game as a whole? Perhaps if they continue down the path they are going I will vote with my wallet and leave. Money isn't the only thing that talks, but I'll leave it at that. It's not just a mass player exodus that would change their tune.

Servers are up early so let me give some information for people on the fence. The mounts do fly and play the music as advertized. The mounts do NOT have the actions the normal magitek mount does, and instead has none like the gilded magitek.

White magitek obtained..

I have no problem paying $12 for it, it's worth it to me. I wouldn't have time for the inevitable grind if they added it in-game. That said, having it both on the cash shop, and as an in-game grind would obviously be a more optimal solution, but oh well.

Okay. I've been gone from the game a good while, but..... when did they start letting people who make sense on the forums? Surely you will be hunted down by the moderators and made to suffer for this.

On a second note. As I said, I've been gone from the game a while, and it's crap like this cash shop that makes me want to abandon it again. Get your collective head, out of your rear SE.

Would it be better if the mount was an exclusive model? Would you pay $12 for the pegasus, and it was never available in game?

I am honestly ok with the recolors because I can safely ignore them. If you think they are too expensive then they probably are, and you can avoid them, while having a recolur (black or golden) in game for free.

I find it much better this way.

At this point, I'm actually expecting achievement rewards to disappear from the game entirely. (Titles are well on the way already.) "You can buy it in the cash shop! Completely optional!"

It's the price and the fact that they're single character only that I think most people are complaining.

Nothing would be wrong with paying $10-$12 for this if it was accountwide, but it isn't. $12 for a recolored mount is pretty exorbitant, especially considering that it's a single character item. I mean, the cash shop items have been creeping up in price a bit recently. The Scion outfits are pretty outrageously expensive, especially considering that outside of the aether goggles and like one or two markings, all the Scions but Minfilia can be accurately recreated with in-game crafted gear.

Recoloring the Magitek mount and slapping Steel Reason on it and saying "It's $12 but that's a discount because its only for a single character" is terrible. I support the cash shop, I support SE making money - but I don't support them screwing over their dedicated players in this manner. It's insulting.
