You called a complete shutdown of the game, which is as ridiculous as it gets. Your theory has absolutely nothing to do with what they announced.
This may sound new or strange to some younger folks, but about 30 years ago there was some nerdy bearded guy who went from company to company, trying to sell his own script. Everywhere he went, it was rejected: "Too risky" "Not good enough", "Can you give us some insurance this is gonna work?", "No, we are not interested". The poor guy didn't get discouraged, and kept trying different studios until in the last one, some young executive decided to take the risk and give him a chance.
The name of that nerdy guy was George Lucas and his "risky" script was Star Wars. 'Nuff said.
